Designations in the dishwasher

designations on dishwashersAfter buying a dishwasher, before starting it, the user has to look for instructions in the decryption of all the symbols and icons available on the control panel. It is not always possible to intuitively guess which symbol that means. Moreover, the wrong choice of mode can not only affect the quality of the sink, but also spoil the dishes. If for some reason there is no detailed instruction at hand, then this article is for you.

Control Panel Icons: Deciphering Them

In built-in dishwashers, the control panel is located at the end of the door. In most cases, all buttons are indicated by small icons in the form of a pan, glass, sun, etc., such icons allow you to compactly and neatly arrange all the necessary buttons. In freestanding dishwashers, the control panel is carried out on the facade. In addition to small pictures, buttons are sometimes signed, but in English, which not everyone can translate. Therefore, you have to refer to the instructions more than once, until you remember all the notation.

Consider the different icons on different dishwashers. For example, designations on Bosch dishwashers.

Bosch dishwasher control panel

  • button under number 1 (pan on stand) - intensive washing program at a temperature of 700With for very dirty dishes, you can wash pans and pans;
  • button under number 2 with the inscription Auto (sometimes a cup on two saucers) - automatic washing program at 45-650C, you can wash different dishes, except fragile, and cutlery;
  • button under the number 3 with the inscription Eco (or a glass and a mug on a plate) - an economical washing program at 500C, like previous programs includes pre-rinsing;
  • the button under the number 4 (a glass with a mug, or a glass with a mug and two arrows to the right) is a quick program that involves washing at 450C, no pre-rinse;

    Note! A sign with a glass and a mug (without an arrow) means a delicate sink; you can wash crystal and other fragile dishes.

  • button under the number 5 (drops of water in the form of a shower) - pre-rinse function;
  • the buttons under the number 6 (+ and - with the inscription h) - assume the choice of time;
  • button number 7 is the function “Save time” (VarioSpeed), which reduces washing time by 2 times;
  • button under the number 8 with the inscription ½ - half load function;
  • button under number 9 (pan, and rockers are drawn above and below it) - the IntensivZone function, when water is supplied to the upper and lower zones at different speeds and different temperatures;
  • the button under the number 10 (baby bottle) is the Hygiene Plus function, in which the dishes are at high temperature for a long time in order to disinfect, you can wash cutting boards and children's dishes.

The program start button is most often signed with “Start”, and the inscription “Reset 3 sec” means that the program will restart when pressed for 3 seconds. In addition to the symbols denoting programs, there are symbols on indicators, on almost all dishwashers they coincide, you can familiarize yourself with their decoding in the article Bosch Dishwasher Indicators.

Consider the basic designations of Hotpoint Ariston brand dishwashers:

control panel dishwasher Ariston

  • the designations under the number 1 are the inscriptions of the indicators, the one that is signed with the letter S is the salt indicator, and the one next to which the cross is drawn is an indicator of the presence of rinse aid;
  • symbol 2 - intensive washing program;
  • symbol 3 - normal washing;
  • symbol 4 - economical program;
  • symbol 5 - program for quick washing and drying;
  • symbol 6 - soaking;
  • symbol 7 - a program for washing fragile dishes, you can wash crystal;
  • symbol 8 - button to turn on the machine;
  • P symbol - program selection button.

Note! Control panel inscriptions in the form of the following characters - h2, h3, h6, h9, etc. mean delayed start time of the program, 2 hours, 3 hours, etc. And the symbols P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6 are the designation of the program, i.e. program 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

The designations on the Beko brand dishwashers shown in the figure below are slightly different.

Sign number 4 (Quick & Clean) means a program for washing dirty dishes that were in the dishwasher.

There are some features in the designations of Asko dishwashers.

Such designations and inscriptions may also occur:

  • drawn star (My Favorite) - means the ability to remember a frequently used program;
  • Delay next to the clock is a delayed start function;
  • a drawn tablet (Multitabs or 3 in 1 inscription) is the possibility of using a combined detergent in the form of tablets;
  • a drawn pan or plate is the usual washing mode;
  • the lock icon indicates the lock on the dishwasher door.

Bosch dishwasher marking

In addition to the symbols and signs on the panel of dishwashers, some users are interested in lettering in the names of the dishwashers. We will deal with the marking of the machine on the example of a Bosch dishwasher model SPV 53m00ru.

The first S symbol stands for spueler, which means that this Bosch machine is designed for washing dishes, and therefore all dishwashers have this symbol. The second letter is the generation of the dishwasher and its width. There may be six:

  • R - narrow machine (45 cm) of the old generation;
  • P - a narrow machine (45 cm) of a new generation;
  • G - a full-size (60 cm) machine of the old generation;
  • M - a full-size (60cm) machine of a new generation;
  • B - a high full-size machine 86.5 cm high and 60 cm wide;
  • K is the new generation compact dishwasher.

Note! Dishwashers of different generations have different parts, a water supply system, which affects the repair of equipment.

The third character indicates the type of dishwasher depending on the installation:

  • S - freestanding;
  • I - partially built-in;
  • V - fully integrated;
  • U - stainless steel door partially integrated with the facade.

Next in the marking is a figure indicating the configuration of the model. Changes from 4 (basic equipment) to 6 (with a large set of programs). The next figure is the model equipment in a certain series of machines, for example, 8 informs about the presence of a drawer for cutlery in the machine.

The next letter indicates the class of the dishwasher, there are five in all:Bosch SPV 53m00ru

  • E is the youngest;
  • N is the lowest;
  • M - medium;
  • T is the highest;
  • U - premium.

The following two digits are manufacturer information. And the last two letters are a designation of what market the model was made for. RU - for Russian, EU - for European.

In our example, the Bosch SPV 53m00ru dishwasher, judging by the marking, is a fully integrated new generation machine with a width of 45 cm. It has additional functions, since the equipment is higher than the basic one, which relates it to the middle class of machines. This model is on the Russian market.

Summing up, we note that most of the symbols on the control panel of dishwashers of different brands are similar. Most of them mean one of the washing modes (main, intensive, fast) or function (drying, half load, delayed start). Be careful when clicking unfamiliar buttons, we hope our article will help you deal with them.

    Good article. Thank you very much!

    But I still did not understand what the numbers 88 mean, this Bosch SPS69T88eu model.
    Just when I chose, there were two similar models, the difference was only in one figure.
    SPS69T88eu and SPS69T78eu, so the one in which the number 78 is $ 50 cheaper.
    So it became interesting what the last numbers mean?

  3. Gravatar Sergey Sergei:

    So, this is clear.And what do the numbers after "/" mean? For example, spv69t70ru / 14 or spv69t70ru / 17?
