How to replace the heater in the washing machine Electrolux

How to replace the heater in the washing machine ElectroluxNoting that the automatic machine Electrolux does not heat water during the washing process, you need to find out the cause of the malfunction as soon as possible. Most likely, this happened due to a breakdown of the heating element. To fix the problem, it is not necessary to call the wizard, examine the part and, if necessary, you can change it yourself. To replace the heating elements in the washing machine, you do not need to have any special knowledge, just read the instructions below.

Get to the desired part

Usually, the heating element in the Electrolux washing machine is located behind the washing machine, it is very easy to get to it, such manipulation will take no more than five minutes. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  • disconnect the machine from the power supply;
  • disconnect the machine from utilities;
  • extend the unit to provide easy access to the rear wall;
  • remove the back of the case;
    remove the back cover to get to the heater
  • remove the drive belt (if it interferes).

After completing the chain of simple actions, you will see the heater. The described step-by-step instructions are suitable for front-loading cars. But what if your top-loading washer? The stages of the work will be the same, only the right side wall should not be removed, but the right side wall.

Part Verification

Whether the heating element needs to be replaced, a test of its operability with a multimeter will tell. To conduct it, it is necessary to disconnect the contacts of the supply wiring from the part, dismantle the temperature sensor. After you need to turn on the mode on the multimeter, which will measure the resistance. Set the device to 200 Ohm, connect the ends of the selector to the terminals of the heater.

If the heating element is serviceable, the multimeter will display resistance in the range of 26-28 Ohms on the display. When the value has a deviation from the specified interval to a greater or lesser side - the heater is faulty. If the device showed zero resistance, this also indicates a failure of the heater.

Important! When testing the heating element, observe safety precautions, be sure to turn off the machine before starting operations.

check the heater with a multimeterIf the device has confirmed the uninterrupted operation of the heater, this does not mean that the system is functioning properly. In the cavity of the tubes there is a dielectric, and, probably, it goes to the body of the automatic machine. It is necessary to test the heater for the presence of a breakdown on the housing. To do this, the multimeter switches to buzzer mode. To make sure that the mode of operation on the selector is selected correctly, a light will help, which lights up on the device and will emit a characteristic sound. You need to check the element as follows: attach one end of the multimeter to the TEN terminal, attach the other end to the body. When the tester does not make any sounds, then the system is fully operational. If a characteristic beep is heard, the heater must be replaced.

Heater replacement work

Once the reason for which the washing machine does not heat water has been clarified, it is necessary to proceed to the elimination of this problem. It is not difficult to replace the heater with your own hands, the main thing is to strictly follow the following instructions.

  1. Unplug the machine from the power outlet.remove the heater from the washing machine
  2. Get rid of the remaining water, this can be done using a drainage filter.
  3. Get free access to the heating element.
  4. Take a picture of the connection diagram of the contacts to the element, this will allow you not to make a mistake with the polarity of the wires during the subsequent connection.
  5. Disconnect the wiring from the heater.
  6. Find the bolt that secures the part, unscrew it from the groove.
  7. Slightly push the mount inward, pull the heater towards you.

If you are unable to remove the element, try to pick up the rubber band of the seal with a screwdriver. To facilitate the removal process, the sealant can be treated with special liquid WD-40.

Attention! If you are not completely sure that the problem lies in the heater, pull out the part very carefully, suddenly it is fully operational and does not need to be replaced.

After the heating element is disconnected, do the following:

  • clean the hole in which the part was located, from accumulations of debris, remove deposits and residues of scale;
  • put a new heater in this place, be sure to connect a temperature sensor to it;
  • tighten the fixing bolt;
  • connect the power contacts according to the photo taken at the beginning of the process.

After completing work, check if the malfunction is resolved. To do this, start the washing processes one after another, always at different temperature conditions. If the machine is functioning properly, you can put the housing cover in place and continue to use the washing machine further.
