How to replace the pump of a Zanussi washing machine

pump replacement in Zanussi_1In the Zanussi washing machine, the pump performs one of the main functions. He pumps out water from the tank when the machine is finished. Therefore, the slightest malfunction will immediately change the quality of your washing: water will remain in the washing machine after the end of the process, which will not allow you to get the laundry out of the drum. In such a case, you need to know how you can replace the pump of a Zanussi washing machine and return your washing to excellent quality. After reading our article, replacing the drain pump with your own hands will not seem an impossible task.

Get ready for work

To begin with, you should think about whether you intend to replace the pump at the Zanussi washing machine yourself or with the help of a specialist. Obviously, the master will replace quickly and efficiently, but his work will cost some money.

If you want to make the replacement on your own, you will only spend on a new pump, but it will take more time to repair than if a professional did it.

In order to make repairs yourself, you will need the following tools: a screwdriver, a set of screwdrivers, pliers and a multimeter in case you have to check the pump. For work, you need to find a suitable place, since the washing unit will have to be disassembled, and to do this at the installation site is unlikely to be possible. Therefore, it is better to drag the machine into the middle of the room or into some large room (garage, for example), after disconnecting it from the mains, sewage and water supply.

We will replace

The location of the part is different for some Zanussi models. Therefore, the repair of a device will be made in slightly different ways. We will figure out how to proceed if the pump of your machine is located on the side of the back wall.

  1. To get started, pump out all the water from the washing machine by placing the drain hose on the floor and substituting the container. Thus, all the water from the machine will exit by gravity without additional effort on your part.
  2. When done, you can remove the back wall. To do this, unscrew the screws that hold it, and also remove the intake valve cover so that there are no problems with disconnecting the rear wall.
  3. Now you can remove the wall itself.

  4. Now you can easily interact with the contents of your device. Before removing the pump, carry out a few preparatory steps. Carefully disconnect the pump power cord and remove the entire snail (be careful not to damage it). When removing the cochlea, do not remove the nozzles from it, for this further work is not necessary.
  5. Then you can remove the pump itself by unscrewing the screws on which it holds. Be sure to remember the location of the part! Also, before installing a new pump, wipe its seat. The less dirty it is, the stronger the new device will hold.

  6. It's time to put a new part. To do this, install it on special runners and slide it into the unit until it clicks.
  7. Now connect the machine to the mains and water supply and conduct a trial run of the washer, not necessarily a long one. Your task is to make sure that water enters the tank and is pumped out of it without problems. If everything is going well, then you did everything right.
  8. When you are convinced that everything works, you can install the back wall, mount the exhaust valve cover and put the washer in place.

On some Zanussi models, the pump is built into the bottom of the washing machine, so you have to get it through the bottom. Let’s figure out how to do this:

  1. To begin with, again, using a drain hose laid on the floor, pump out water from the unit.
  2. Lay the washer horizontally, with the drum up, so that you can safely work with the bottom of the machine.
  3. Unscrew the bottom wall so that you can interact with the contents of the apparatus. On the right side inside, locate and remove the pump, and then remove it from the machine.
  4. Now take a new part. Insert the new pump into the place of the previous one and push it inward a little until it clicks so that it stands up confidently (do not forget that the pump seat should be as clean as possible). When everything is ready, connect the power cable to the pump.
  5. To conduct testing, you need to screw the bottom cover of the machine back, and again set the unit in a vertical position. When everything is ready, start a trial wash.
  6. If water collection and pumping are performed without problems, then you did everything right.

In fact, replacing a pump in a Zanussi washing machine does not require a huge investment of time and effort, so with proper care and attention, you can do it yourself. However, if you doubt yourself and your strengths, it is better to consult a specialist.
