How to change the pump in an LG washing machine

How to change the pump in an LG washing machineAfter using the washing machine for a long time, the drain pump may fail. Washing machines equipped with a self-diagnosis system will certainly notify the user about this by displaying the corresponding error code on the screen. It is permissible to replace the drain pump on your own, without resorting to the help of a specialist. As for purchasing a replacement part, the pump can be purchased in specialized stores or ordered from the manufacturer of the washing machine.

Part replacement guide

Automatic machines from the ElG brand are characterized by a rather complex design. To repair a washing machine at home, you need to understand the essence of the equipment, have free time and a minimum set of tools. To change the pump in the machine LG, you won’t have to disassemble the unit and remove the housing cover; all work will be carried out through the bottom of the machine. The algorithm for reinstalling the drain pump on ElG washing machines will be as follows (repair of the LG WD-80130N model is described):

  • drain the water remaining in the washing machine tank, close the fill valve;remove the pump
  • Cover the floor with an additional covering (a blanket, a piece of cardboard, etc., this is necessary to preserve the floor material) and lay the machine on its side. It is important that the pump is on top, so it will be more convenient to carry out repair work;
  • disconnect the lower trim panel of the case; to do this, either unclip the fasteners or unscrew the fastening screws;
  • Unscrew the drain pump from the base of the machine. The bolts holding the pump are located on the outside, near the drain valve;
  • start pressing on the pump from the side of the drain valve, pull the part towards you;
  • disconnect all power wires connected to the pump;
  • remove water from the pump, if there is any in the cavity, to do this, loosen the clamps holding the drain boy and take it off;removing the pump
  • if the snail does not need to be replaced, then install it in place along with the purchased drain pump. To remove the volute, you need to unscrew the bolts holding the pump, and then remove the screws connecting the pump and the volute;
  • Clean the extracted snail from any accumulated debris. The part of the part that will come into contact with the new pump should not have even the slightest contamination;
  • reassemble the pump and volute in reverse order;
  • Reinstall the pump in its original location and connect all power wiring to it.

Replacing the drain pump will not cause any serious difficulties. The procedure is quite simple, even the average person can handle it. However, if you have problems when working with your own hands, it is better to turn to professional craftsmen to minimize the risks of increased repair costs.

Let's improve filtering

Recently, drainage filter elements are in high demand among owners of washing machines. The drainage filter is made in the form of a tube with numerous holes to increase the efficiency of water filtration.

Over time, the drainage pipe may become worn out. You should not immediately buy a new filter; experts recommend first trying to wash the old cleaner. To carry out the work you will need a container, a rag and a brush. The sequence of actions will be as follows:disconnect the clamp

  • run the drum rotation program for a couple of minutes, this will remove all the water from the tank;
  • Turn off the power to the washing machine, remove the back wall of the case;
  • find the drainage tube and pull it towards you;
  • drain the remaining water from the hose into a prepared container;
  • carefully rotate the tube from right to left and remove the drain filter;
  • using a brush, clean the surface of the filter element from the inside and outside, rinse the drainage under running water;
  • return the drain filter to its original position, secure the drain hose, replace the rear panel of the housing, and secure it with bolts.

When performing work, do not forget about safety precautions; be sure to disconnect the washing machine from the power supply.

Cleaning the drainage filter element on an LG direct drive washing machine by yourself is quite simple. Therefore, you should not immediately look for a new part in stores, but you should try to give a “second life” to the drainage.
