How to clean a clogged drain in a washing machine?

How to clean a clogged drain in a washing machineIf, after the next wash, you notice that the water from the tank of the automatic machine leaves more slowly than usual, the drain of the washing machine is most likely clogged. Such a problem occurs quite often, since the elements of the drainage system are clogged from time to time with pile, debris, hairs that are washed from things, and soapy deposits accumulate on the parts.

You can cope with a blockage yourself, without resorting to the help of repairmen. To clean the drain system of the washing machine, it is necessary to prepare a special cleaning agent, sponge, brush, polymer cable, as well as stock up on a couple of hours of free time.

Let's start by cleaning the trash filter.

The filter element is located in front of the washer, in the lower right corner, behind a special door. To access the trash filter, you need to pry the hatch with a flat screwdriver and carefully open it. Some models of automatic machines do not have a separate door, but are equipped with a continuous false panel that hides the filtration system. In such a situation, you will have to remove the entire panel by loosening the latches holding it.

What to do after access to the trash filter is open? The algorithm of work will be as follows:

  • unscrew the screw and remove the filter element from the body of the machine;
  • place an empty container under the opening or put unnecessary rags;
  • carefully position the unit at an angle, ensuring free flow of water remaining in the system;
  • Use a cable to clean the system of various kinds of contaminants;
  • Wipe the structure with a damp cloth while removing any deposits that have deposited on the walls.Let's start by cleaning the trash filter.

If scale is found on the filtering system components, it will be necessary to replace damaged parts.

After cleaning the filter and structure is completed, fasten the element in the housing and replace the removed panel.

Cleaning the snail, nozzle, pump

In addition to the trash filter, clogging can also occur in the drain pump, as well as in the snail connected to it. The free cavities in the listed parts are quite large, so dealing with contamination with your own hands will be a little more difficult than washing the filter. The procedure for cleaning the snail and pipe will be as follows:

  • unscrew the screws holding the cochlea and disconnect the part;
  • loosen existing clamps;
  • unfasten the pipe and clean it of debris;
  • rinse the snail by removing all existing contaminants
  • reinstall the accessories, tighten the clamps and tighten the bolts.clean the pump

During snail removal, the drain pump can also be checked for obstruction. Unfasten the chip with the contacts, remove the pump from the housing of the washing machine. Disassemble the pump, pull out the fibers, hairs and other debris that have accumulated in the cavity of the part and around the impeller.

Hose or drain pipe clogged

The drainage of waste fluid is difficult due to clogging of the cavity of the drain hose or the place of its attachment to the sewer pipe. To clean the drain of the washing machine, you will have to disconnect the hose from the utility network and clean it. The following actions must be performed:

  • disconnect the washer;
  • close the water intake valve;
  • get access to the trash filter, remove the element from the housing;
  • through the hole that appears, drain the water remaining in the system;
  • using pliers, disconnect the end of the drain hose from the sewer pipe or distributing siphon.

Then you should disconnect the drain hose from the automatic machine. The process will vary slightly depending on the model of the washer.flush the drain hose

  1. In machines of Beco, Ariston, Samsung, Kandy, AlGi, Indesit brands, access to the drainage hose attachment point is possible only through the bottom. The washer is laid on its side, after which the drain hose is unfastened from the pump using pliers.
  2. In automatic machines Electrolux and Zanussi, a drainage tube is launched from the back of the case. You can access the mounting location only by removing the back wall. After that, release the latches securing the hose and disconnect the water intake hose from the valve. Then remove the top cover of the machine and unclench the clamp fixing the drainage tube.
  3. In products of AEG, Siemens and Bosch brands, you can get to the drain hose if you remove the front wall of the unit. To do this, you will have to loosen the clamp holding the cuff of the hatch, insert the seal into the drum, disconnect the lower raised panel, remove the detergent dispenser from the housing, unscrew the bolts holding the main control panel, remove the wiring from the UBL and remove the device. After preparatory steps, you need to remove the front wall and pull out the drain hose from the housing.

The drain pipe is flushed with water. At the same time, a brush, polymer Kevlar cable and detergent compositions are used. To clean the hose cavity well, it is recommended to add a little citric acid to warm water and rinse the tube with this solution.
