How to remove the powder tray in an Indesit and Ariston washing machine
Probably every second housewife who uses an automatic washing machine knows how to remove the standard powder tray from it. A standard container for powder has a special tongue in the very center, in the area of the air conditioner compartment, by pressing on which you can simultaneously pull the tray itself and pull it out without problems. 90% of brands of washing machines have a container of this particular design, but there are washing machines (Indesit, Ariston) in which the tray is designed differently and is pulled out in a special way. How? Let's figure it out.
At the Indesit washing machine
It is quite difficult to remove the powder container from the Indesit washing machine and the Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine. How many users, trying in vain to remove the powder containers of these machines, “teared them out by the roots.” Surprisingly, many people read the instructions for washing machines, but in these instructions this process is described so sparingly and incomprehensibly, that in the end you have to rely only on your intuition and dexterity.
Imagine the situation: you just bought an Indesit washing machine, used it for a while and decided to rinse the powder container. Accordingly, this container has never been pulled out and its mechanism inside is completely intact. What are we doing?
- Pull the washing machine compartment towards you as far as it will go so that it appears outward as much as possible.
- Squat down and inspect the bottom of the tray, there are teeth on the right and left that prevent the compartment from being removed, lubricate them with a small amount of vegetable oil.
- Next, grab the tray body (not the handle) and with some force, lift it up and at the same time pull it towards you, the container should move a couple of millimeters.
Lifting the powder tray up makes it possible to slip through the two right teeth, which are what most interfere with its removal, but you cannot remove the container of the Indesit washing machine only by lifting it up, as described in the instructions.
- Next, we again take hold of the body of the powder tray of the Indesit washing machine and press on it from above so that it moves down, making a click.
- Now the tray comes out at a slight angle, we continue to press on it from above and at the same time pull the container towards us with some force - it will pop out.
On a Hotpoint-Ariston machine
As noted above, most washing machines have a conventional directly extending powder drawer. Just press the tab in the area of the air conditioner compartment and the tray will easily pop out. But how do you remove a tray that extends out like a fan? A striking example is the Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine. On the one hand, such a tray is very convenient; all the compartments there, from the main wash compartment to the conditioner compartment, are more clearly separated. On the other hand, when it comes time to wash the tray, you have to solve the problem of removing it.
In the case of the Indesit washing machine, you can simply pull the powder tray very hard and it will pop out, perhaps even without damaging anything. With a Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine, this number will not work if you pull it hard and break the front part of the tray, which will lead to the contents of the air conditioner compartment spilling onto the floor and the entire part will have to be replaced. And if break your washing machine under warranty, this will lead to unpleasant consequences. To avoid unnecessary breakdowns, we will remove the powder receptacle of the Hotpoint-Ariston machine according to all the rules.
- Pull out the powder tray until it stops.
- We take the edge of the tray body on the right side and lift it up a little.
- Pull the tray towards you and take it out of the washing machine.
By lifting the edge of the tray, we pull it out of the groove, bypassing the limiter, which allows us to then remove the container without any problems.
What to do after?
When you manage to remove the powder container of the Indesit washing machine and rinse it of any residual product, do not rush to put it back in place. It is quite possible that removing the tray again will create problems for you again, and the same teeth will get in the way. What can be done to make it easier to remove the tray of a washing machine of this brand in the future?
Experts and experienced users advise taking a file or sandpaper and slightly sharpening the plastic limiting teeth. There is no need to grind down much, remove about 1 mm of plastic. Firstly, the tray will pull out much better, and secondly, it will not pop out spontaneously if you pull it a little harder before pouring the powder into it.
In conclusion, we note that in practice it is not so difficult to get almost any washing machine tray; the main thing is to know how it is done and acquire the necessary skill. I have Indesit. She had three pairs of protrusions on her tray. I made it easier to remove the tray by sliding a flat sheet of a kitchen spatula under the tray (under the first pair of ridges, which are at the same height on the left and in the middle). Try it, it's much easier.
