Washing machine inlet solenoid valve - check and replace

The filling valve is needed in order to draw water inside the machine so that it can be washed. It has two functional positions:

1. Open
2. And closed.

Most often it is in the closed position. When current flows to its coil, an electromagnetic field arises. This field creates the necessary actions to open.

That is, it tightens the rod and the membrane comes into the open state. And water enters the hopper of the dispenser, where it washes away the washing powder. And then, along with the powder, it is poured into the tank of the machine. When the required amount of water is collected, electricity ceases to be supplied to the coil and the water supply stops.

Types of valves

There are several types of valves for a washing machine. Some of them have 1st, others - 2nd and third-3rd coils (sections). Each section is a separate way for water intake. The amount of these sections is related to the different structure of the washing machine models. The design of some needs one coil, the other two and so on.

In models where there is only one valve, the direction of the water supply is controlled by a mechanic. lever of the command device. It causes water to flow into various sections of the plastic dispenser. This design is typical for older models of washing machines. In them, a single-valve system is adjacent and cooperates with the command device.

More modern washing machines have an electronic control module. But there is no mechanical drive. They use valves with two or three coils (sections). One coil creates a water supply in one section of the plastic dispenser of the washing machine. The other is in the second. And in order to create a feed in the third department, you need a third coil. Or in the case of a two-coil valve, this is done by simultaneously turning on both coils.

How to check the intake valve?

Let's look at the check valve issue. In order to verify the operability of this part of the washing machine, it is necessary to remove it. Then attach the inlet hose to the inlet valve. Next, you need to apply 220 volts to all coils in turn. If the valve works, then it must pass water when supplying electricity. That is, open up.

And in the absence of electricity - do not let water through. That is, to close. In carrying out this experiment, you need to be very careful. After all, if water gets on the wires under current, there will be a circuit. Therefore, you should protect yourself as much as possible. Also, one should not forget that during this test water will flow. It must be sent to any pre-prepared container.

1. First, check the intake valve mesh. If there is a blockage inside it, then it can interfere with the water supply. This valve part must be removed and cleaned. And then return it to its original place. If you do not, then the water will enter the machine very slowly or not at all.
2. In the event that the valve does not open when electricity is supplied, then most likely its coil burned out. In order to verify the presence or absence of this breakdown, you can use a multimeter (tester). They need to measure resistance. Normal resistance is approximately 2-4 kOhm. You can change the coil. If there is a spare valve, you can remove it from it. If not, you can order a new coil or an entire valve. Usually it is quite inexpensive.
3. It is still necessary to determine whether there are pressed-in plastic inserts in the fittings. They reduce the amount of water entering the machine in the moment. Usually they are used on the inlet (inlet) valve fitting. The one who is busy supplying water to the dispenser section, designed to rinse. If the insert falls out, then the water pressure becomes larger.And she gets into the dispenser department in too much quantity. A faulty valve is easier to replace than to repair.

How to change the valve?

Most often, the valve is located in the upper part of the machine on its rear wall. In order to get to it, we need to remove the upper part of the body (cover). The cover is fixed with 2 screws located at the back. Unscrew them. Then push the cover from the front toward the back. Then you can shoot it.

If you have a machine with a vertical loading, then in such models the valve is usually located at the bottom on the back of the body. In order to get to it, it is necessary to remove the side of the washing machine.

Before removing the valve, be sure to turn off the water supply. Then disconnect the wire terminals and hoses from it. If the latter are fixed with disposable clamps, then you can prepare several disposable clamps in advance or use previously reusable clamps.

Then twist the fixing bolts. On some models, the intake valve is latched. In this case, you need to pull off the locking part of the latch, turn the valve and pull it out.
