Installing a washing machine without running water

installing a washing machine without running waterAn automatic machine for rural areas without running water has ceased to be a dream. It turns out that even in the complete absence of such a benefit of civilization as water supply, you can count on the connection and efficient operation of the machine. True, you will have to try a little and take into account a lot of expert advice.

Getting ready to install a washing machine without running water

Preparing for installation of the machine is a very important stage of work. Without quality preparation, it will not be possible to answer the question of how to install an automatic washing machine without running water? First of all, you need to correctly select the place where the machine will be installed. Due to the lack of water supply and sewerage, you need to position the machine so that there is room for a water tank, water supply and drainage communications.

The room in which the machine will be located must be heated. Plus, we should not forget that the inlet and drain hoses must also pass in a heated place or be underground. The flooring on which we will install the machine must be well reinforced to avoid unnecessary vibration.

Having determined a place for the machine in a private house, we must stock up on tools. It is impossible to provide a complete list of tools, since everything will depend on the materials chosen and the method of installing the machine. Here are some examples of tools you may need:installing a washing machine without running water

  • bolts, nuts, clamps, etc.;
  • pliers and adjustable wrench;
  • regular roulette;
  • household level;
  • sealing tape;
  • indicator screwdriver;
  • knife.

Having collected the necessary tools, you need to take care of the components for installing the machine. Regardless of the model of the machine, you will probably have problems selecting such components. Their final list is formed only upon completion of installation work, usually this:

  • water hoses and filters of suitable diameter;
  • crimp couplings or tee;
  • special shut-off valve;
  • solenoid valves;
  • centrifugal pump.

Note! The diameters of hoses, valves, tees are selected depending on the model of the washing machine and its connection diagram.

Installation process

A washing machine for a cottage without running water should wash completely automatically - this is the main goal. To achieve it, you need to solve the main problem - to ensure a water supply to the machine. You can do this in several ways:

  1. Pour water into the machine directly from the bucket, if the machine model allows it, of course. This method excludes washing automation, so it is not suitable for us.
  2. Pour water into a special reservoir from which water will be supplied to the machine. This method can be implemented only if the reservoir is provided by the machine manufacturer or if a pressure blower is installed between the machine valve and the water container.
  3. installation of a washing machine without waterSolve the issue with the water supply, and then connect the machine in the usual way. If this option is available, then great, the problem is solved, but if not, then there is nothing to consider.
  4. Drill a well and pump water using an electric pumping station directly from underground. This is a rather expensive way to connect the machine to water, and, moreover, it is not feasible in all cases, because there can be many tens of meters of solid rock to the aquifer.

To summarize, most of these methods are either completely unacceptable or acceptable if you have a fair amount of cash. There is only one thing left to do - connect the machine to a special water tank and a pressure blower. Let's describe the whole process.

  • First of all, you need to prepare and install a water tank with a volume of 40-50 liters next to the machine. The top of the container should be open to make it convenient to pour water. The tank must be installed on legs at a height of 50 cm from the floor.
  • We make a hole in the bottom of the tank (with a diameter slightly wider than the water intake hose), and install a threaded adapter into it. The adapter will connect to the hose.
  • Now we need a compact electric water pump of low power, it will play the role of a pressure supercharger. We connect the hose from the water tank to the pump. For convenience, we install the pump under the container.
  • Now let's do some manipulations with the washing machine, the connection will wait. First, you need to improve the throughput of the automatic machine valves. To do this, you need to get to these valves and remove the rubber sealing gaskets from them. They are located at the junction of the water intake hose with the machine.
  • Next, we connect the water intake hose from the pump to the machine, pour water into the tank and connect the pump to the electrical network.

Thus, our water intake hoses run from the water tank to the pump and from the pump to the machine - simply and reliably. This type of machine connection scheme has two disadvantages: firstly, you need to buy a water pump, and secondly, you need to manually fill the tank with water periodically. However, there are no simpler and cheaper solutions for connecting a machine without running water.

After connecting the machine, its functionality can be checked, even if there is no water. How to check the operation of a washing machine?

  1. Connect the machine to the power supply and press the power button.
  2. Turn the control switch and see how the electrical panel reacts to changing washing modes.
  3. Set the spin mode (if the temperature sensor is turned on, you need to turn it off).
  4. The drum should begin to rotate in reverse mode, which allows you to check the operation of the motor and drives.

Important! When checking the machine without water, do not set any washing modes, this risks overheating and failure of its heating elements.

The following video will complement the described installation process.

Organizing the drainage of soapy water

Having connected the water to the machine, we will not ignore the issue of organizing the drainage of soapy water. We should not forget that dirty water in which the powder is dissolved is toxic and can poison the soil, so you need to dig a drainage hole, concrete it, insulate the walls with concrete rings and organize a sewer drain.

We lay a plastic pipe of suitable diameter from the pit to the machine. It will play the role of a sewer drain pipe. Make sure that the pipe does not freeze in winter; to do this, its outdoor section may have to be buried deeper. We insert the drain hose of the machine into the pipe, fill the joint with sealant and rejoice - the drain is organized.

Cars that don't need running water

There are washing machines that do not need running water at all; water is poured into them manually. This category includes old Soviet washing machines such as “Malyutka” or “Siberia” and other models.As well as modern automatic washing machines with tanks, which are installed in trailers and motorhomes in the USA and Europe.

installation of a washing machine without waterOne of the most famous modern models of washing machines with tanks is the machine produced under the Gorenje brand. The 80 liter tank of the machine is enough for 2 washes, which ensures its complete autonomy from water supply systems. You can refill the tank manually at any time. The Gorenje series machine is fully functional and has the same washing modes as conventional automatic machines. You can read more about these washing machines Here.

To summarize, we note that an automatic washing machine without a connection to a water supply can work without any problems, the main thing is to connect it correctly. The question of how to connect such a machine cannot be answered right away; everything will depend on the model of the machine, the chosen connection scheme, financial capabilities and preferences of the owners. But with all this, there are relatively simple, unsophisticated methods that do not require large financial and time expenditures.
