Water level in the washing machine - draws a lot or a little water (overflow and underfill)

Too much or too little water in the washing machineIn modern conditions, many firms manufacturing washing machines are engaged in the development of more efficient and economical models. They strive to make machines that consume less electricity and use less water.

Automatic machines differ in these parameters. Also, with different given programs and different stages of washing, the amount of water can also be different. Usually, not a lot of water is required when choosing a wash for coarse fabrics. A little more is needed for synthetic and delicate things. The largest amount of water is used when rinsing. It should be noted that new washing machines are generally more economical than their older counterparts. That is, with the whole process, they consume less water.

Why do I need a level sensor?

Level sensor in the washing machineAs the name implies, the level sensor monitors the level of water entering the tank. It is active and performs its functions during the entire washing process. And he must collect and maintain the right amount of water for each particular operation.

The washing machine is gaining a lot of water

If your washing machine overflows. That is, gaining it too much, the following malfunctions are possible:

  • Failure of the water inlet valve, in this case, water continues to be filled all the time.
  • The level sensor (pressure switch) has broken. This can also lead to this malfunction.
  • Also, this problem may occur during the very first wash. In the event that your washing machine was transported in a horizontal position.
  • Incorrect installation of the washing machine.

Troubleshoot

First, we recommend checking that the washing machine is properly connected to water.

The exact data on how high the drain and inlet hoses can be from the floor can be found in the instruction manual of your household appliances. After checking, you can proceed to the next step - pour and pour water from the tank two or three times. This is done using buttons or other controls on the machine.

Intake valve malfunction

When the water is drained, make sure that the water does not continue to flow into the detergent container. If it does arrive, it means that the problem is in the valve responsible for filling the water. Also, with this breakdown, water can be poured into the tank even when the washing machine is turned off. This may be due to a breakdown. intake valve, and because of the clogging. The surest way to get rid of this problem is to replace this part.

You can find out how to make such a replacement yourself by watching the video:

In the event of such a breakdown, it is necessary, first of all, to turn off the tap, cutting off the washing machine from the water. And only after that you can replace the valve yourself (do not forget to disconnect the machine before this) or call a specialist. If the tap is left open, there is a possibility that water will fill the entire tank and begin to flow out.

Water itself drains

This problem can occur even if the machine is connected correctly. This may be because the pressure level in the sewer system is very small. And the water is simply drawn in, leaving the tank of the washing machine. To solve this problem, we recommend buying an anti-drain valve ("anti-drain") and put it in the hose break. With it, you will save the machine from such a draining of water.

Water supply problems

No water in tapIf the water is poured very slowly or is not poured at all, then it is worth checking its presence and pressure in the water pipe. To do this, simply open the kitchen faucet (or faucet in the bathroom). Accordingly, if you see that the water does not flow, then the problem is that someone turned it off. And if it flows, but barely, then the pressure is lowered. And for this reason, water can fill the tank very slowly. To resolve this issue, we recommend contacting the Housing Office. Perhaps they already know that your home has this problem. In this case, they will report the time of its elimination. Or they don’t even know what happened. In this case, they must be informed so that they deal with this issue.

It is also worth checking the tap, which blocks the access of water to the machine. It may not be fully open or closed at all. If your problem is that the water does not pour, then you can also read this article: the washing machine does not pick up water.

Malfunction of the relay (sensor) level or its tube

Most often, this breakdown manifests itself as follows: water continues to be collected after the machine starts to work and does not stop. In order to make sure that the breakdown lies in the sensor, it is necessary to remove the sensor tube and examine it for damage and holes. If it passes into the tube, then it must be replaced with a new one. If the level sensor itself is faulty, you should change it.

You can watch the video instruction for replacing the level sensor (relay) below:

We wish you success in self-repair and long life of your household appliances! Have a good day!

I have a machine gun. She worked flawlessly for several years. Today she began to wash, and she constantly draws water, not stopping. How to independently determine the health of the water level sensor itself before changing it. After all, the matter may not be in it.

Good day! Maybe someone will need information. I myself recently encountered a problem - when rinsing, the LG WD12395NDK typed water without stopping (to a full tank :)) and refused to squeeze it. So, it was a matter of a clogged bottom plastic part of the pipe connecting the pressure switch to the pump and tank. Ten minutes and the problem can be forgotten for several years!

I also have a strange thing happening with the Siltal sx428 machine - there were overfillings in the tank with the subsequent stop of the engine before draining. Now something else has arisen (but the water level is normal.): After 30-40 minutes of operation - when washing or rinsing instead of measured drum rotations, the drum rotates sharply (roll) with a subsequent stop. So 3 times, and the engine shuts off until the operation to drain the water begins. And if you turn off the car after these 1-2 “throws” for 5-10min. - everything reaches normal (as usual. What happens to my typewriter? - question

Most likely you need to change the tachometer (engine speed sensor) or clean the contacts. Maybe water got there.

LG car, in the tank you can’t see water at all is this the norm?

We also wash semi-dry laundry in quick wash. And when he does a drum cleaning, he picks up a third of the glass.

Good day. Please tell me whether it is possible to use the centrifuge of the Indesit washing machine to spin clothes, if there is currently no water in the tap?
