Furniture for a washing machine is very popular, because it has a lot of advantages. Machine cabinets are installed not only in the kitchen, but also in the bathroom. Even in conditions of limited space, this is quite possible, because there are not just cabinets, but cabinets for a washing machine with a sink. We decided to write an article about such furniture.

According to the explanatory dictionary, a cabinet is a low cabinet with a door or drawers. This means that the cabinet for the washing machine must have similar features, otherwise it will be a different piece of furniture. Despite such a narrow definition of the concept of a cabinet, cabinets with sinks can be divided into several groups.

Depending on the material from which the cabinets are made, they can be divided into:

• wooden - such furniture products are very expensive. Wood processing is carried out using special technologies; furniture is treated with compounds that prevent wood from rotting. Most often, custom-made cabinets are made from wood to match the classic design of the bathroom.
• cabinets made of MDF and fiberboard are the most popular furniture, which is characterized by a relatively low price, high moisture resistance, and a large selection of colors.
  
• plastic – durable furniture structures, not afraid of moisture, lightweight and not expensive.
• combined - MDF cabinets with a stone countertop and sink. This type of furniture has become popular recently. The stone attracts attention and makes the cabinet unusual and durable.

One cabinet with a sink for a washing machine may differ from another in the method of fastening, and therefore they distinguish:

• hanging cabinets - are attached using anchor bolts to the wall of the room. Under the sink there are shelves covered with doors. Behind these same doors hides the siphon and all the hoses coming from the washing machine. The machine itself is located nearby under the common tabletop. Quite a convenient design that takes up little space and provides unhindered access to communications.

Depending on the size, cabinets can be compact or large. At the same time, they do not differ in height, it is no more than 90 cm. Higher furniture for an automatic car does not belong to cabinets; it will rather be a cabinet. In addition, a sink placed high will be inconvenient. The most compact cabinets are 110 cm wide and 61 cm deep. This is quite enough to install shelves or drawers, a sink and a washing machine in such a cabinet.

A cabinet for a washing machine with a sink can be much larger, for example, 130 cm wide and 60 cm deep. If the bathroom space allows it, then why not install such a piece of furniture. If you have a separate drying machine, you can provide a place for it, then the width of the cabinet will be at least 170 cm. According to the installation location, cabinets can be divided into:

• straight - those that are placed along one wall;
• corner - those that occupy not just the corner of the room, but also space along adjacent walls.

Material, size, and the presence of convenient drawers are not everything when choosing a cabinet for a washing machine. A special role is played by the shape of the furniture and its design.

A well-chosen piece of furniture will make it attractive and harmonious. As for the cabinets, they are usually made in light colors. But there are also combined cabinets, for example, red and white or white and black.

The shape of the cabinet can also be different. It can be a rectangular object with sharp right angles. The cabinet can be rounded, have a rounded door, an oval countertop and the same oval sink. Furniture can be decorated in a certain style. The classic cabinet is characterized by the presence of carved facades, the use of unusual handles, and white or beige color. A cabinet in a modern style will be more angular, without unnecessary elements, with glossy facades; handles on cabinets and doors may be completely absent due to automatic opening.

Tips for choosing

When choosing furniture for a washing machine, you need to take into account a number of factors, here are some tips that will help you not forget anything when purchasing.

1. Check the dimensions of the washing machine and the dimensions of the place where this piece of furniture will stand.
   

   Remember! There should be a gap between the walls of the cabinet and the body of the washing machine. It is needed so that when the machine vibrates, it does not touch the furniture, which affects the wear of parts.

2. Plan to purchase a cabinet after purchasing a washing machine, and not vice versa.
3. Find out how the hoses from the washing machine will be hidden in the cabinet, how the plumbing is connected.
4. Inspect the fittings of the furniture you are purchasing. It must be strong and reliable. Handles, hinges, and legs should be made of chromed metal; it is more resistant to moisture and fits into any interior.
5. Do not forget about the design of the room in which the furniture will be installed. You shouldn’t put a classic cabinet in a high-tech bathroom, just like you shouldn’t put a plastic cabinet in a classic bathroom.
6. Inspect the cabinet from all sides; there should be no chips, peeling coating, swollen areas, scratches or other defects.
7. Decide on the budget you are willing to spend on bathroom furniture. Think about whether you can save money or, on the contrary, take your time with the purchase and save up for a better quality product.

Installation steps

In most cases, all components are supplied together, this is a siphon, sink, faucet. If you had to buy everything separately, then be careful.

In such cabinets, in most cases, “water lily” sinks are installed; this will allow you to build drawers and shelves under the sink.

“Water lily” sinks are distinguished by the fact that their water drainage point is located closer to the back wall, which means that the siphon is removed towards the wall. The installation process of the machine and cabinet consists of the following steps:

• Flexible cold and hot water hoses are connected to the mixer.
• Then pass these hoses through the hole in the countertop of the cabinet.
• A tee tap is connected to the cold water supply pipe, to one end of which a cold hose from the mixer is connected.
• The hot water hose of the mixer is connected to the hot water supply pipe.
• Next, a siphon with an outlet is connected to the sink and drainage system.
• They put the machine in the cabinet; it’s easier to say, they slide it under the tabletop, because the machine will stand on the floor.
• Then connect the inlet hose to cold water and the drain hose to the siphon outlet.
• The machine is plugged in and a test wash is performed.

A cabinet for a sink and washing machine can be made to order, but it will take a lot of time, and the price may be more expensive than a ready-made one.
