compartment in the dishwasher for tabletsTablets for a dishwasher are the most popular product among consumers. It is convenient to use, it does not need to be dosed, the tablets replace salt and rinse, in other words, it is a multifunctional product with three, five or even ten functions, as the manufacturers claim. But not all consumers understand where to put such pills in the car, how many they need for one cycle. In the instructions, such information may not be, therefore, we talk about everything in detail.

Where is the tablet compartment

In order not to be mistaken with where the tablet compartment is located and where to put it in a specific model of the dishwasher, do not be lazy, read the instructions first. If there is no such information, then carefully inspect the dishwasher inside. In most dishwasher models, detergent drawers are located on the inside of the door. One of these compartments (marked with F in Figure 1) is screwed on with a lid C, on which a flower can be drawn, this compartment is intended for rinse aid. Rinse aid on some machines may have a rinse aid indicator D.

Compartment 2 - the main compartment for detergents, this is the compartment where the powder is poured, gel is poured, or a tablet is placed. Compartment 3 is designed for a small amount of detergent, about 5 g of powder or gel, for a preliminary wash cycle.

To open or not to open the package

Before using tablets for a dishwasher, you need to read the instructions for use indicated on the box with such tablets. There are a lot of varieties and brands of tablets, so they can differ from each other. It is very important. Each tablet is wrapped in a package that can be soluble and insoluble. If the packaging is not soluble, then the tablet does not dissolve, so the packaging must be opened before use.

Note! Soluble packages are usually transparent; they do not have cuts or strips for opening. Foil-wrapped tablets definitely need to be opened.

Let us give an example of tablets with dissolving packaging:dishwasher tablet

  • Finish Quantum;
  • Sun All in one;
  • Sodasan;
  • Dish Drops
  • Amway.

Tablets in which the wrapper does not dissolve:

  • Somat;
  • OXO Family;
  • Frosch;
  • Econta;
  • Ecover.

How does the tablet work?

Tablets for a dishwasher may vary in composition, and therefore they will have different effects. However, they all have the same basic functions. Most combination tablets contain detergent, salt and rinse aid. Additional components that may or may not be included include:

  • substances that protect the metal from corrosion;
  • substances that protect silverware from darkening;
  • antibacterial and disinfectant components;
  • bleaching agents;
  • defoamers;
  • flavorings, etc.

After starting the washing program at a certain point in time, a tablet falls out of the compartment and begins to dissolve in layers. First, a layer of salt and detergent dissolves, the whole process lasts during the washing phase. Before the final rinse, the third layer dissolves (red ball in Finish tablets). It happens that the tablet does not dissolve at all, and falls out of the compartment only after washing, when the door opens. This may be due to the fact that some dishes prevent the opening of the compartment lid, so the tablet does not get into the dishwasher tank.

Important! The tablet cannot be crushed, in this case there will be no effect from it, since already in the first stage the rinse aid will dissolve.

The nuances of using pills

dishwasher tabletWe pay attention to the nuances of using dishwasher tablets. Many are interested in the question, how much is enough of such a remedy, how many tablets do you need per wash? The answer is simple: one tablet for a dishwasher is enough for one sink when fully loaded, this is about 10 to 15 sets of dishes. Empirically, many users of dishwashers have found that when half loaded, half the tablet is enough. Also, half the tablet is enough for washing dishes in a compact (small) dishwasher.

Another nuance in the use of tablets is the correct choice of washing regimen. In some modern models of dishwashers, it is indicated in which mode you can use 3 in 1 tablets. Most often these are long-lasting modes, at least one hour.

Note! Tablets can not be used for pre-soaking and rinsing.

It is very important to observe storage conditions when using tablets. And they must be stored in a dry place inaccessible to children. If the tablets are soluble, then moisture can stick together. Therefore, take the tablets only with dry hands.

So, using tablets for a dishwasher is very convenient, but it is important to know how to do it correctly, this will increase the efficiency of their use. We hope our article helped to figure this out.
