Washing thermal underwear in a washing machine

Washing thermal underwear in a washing machineIn this article we will talk about how to wash thermal underwear in a washing machine. After all, this is not just a thing - thermal underwear has special insulating properties and needs proper care to avoid loss of thermal insulation qualities and deformation. However, any thing must be washed periodically, so let's figure out whether it is possible to do the washing without serious investment of time and nerves and, if possible, how.

Automatic washing rules

Some people are generally afraid to wash thermal underwear in a machine, as they believe that this type of clothing can only be washed by hand. But that's not true. Thermal underwear is a type of product that can be washed in a washing machine, but you must follow certain rules and approach the issue very carefully. However, with proper skill, you will soon be able to perform this procedure very easily. Here are its main parameters:

  • use a gentle or, in other words, delicate mode/program;Can only be washed in cold water 30 degrees
  • turn off the spin cycle and do not boil the fabric, as both will negatively affect the heat-insulating material;
  • the water temperature should not exceed 30 degrees for all types of fabric, except polyester (40 is acceptable);
  • buy a special detergent, since powders not intended for use with thermal underwear can ruin it;
  • Do not iron the item under any circumstances, this will destroy its structure;
  • Even in the case of severe contamination, never use solvents, stain removers or other aggressive agents.

Attention! During production, a special tag is also sewn onto the thermal underwear, on which you can find the basic rules for care if you suddenly forgot something. As a rule, there are also recommendations for water procedures there.

The frequency of procedures should be average. If you wash the item too rarely, dirt will accumulate in the pores and deteriorate the quality of the set. If too often, thermal underwear will quickly lose its shape and properties due to wear and tear. The best option: 2-3 times a week with daily use, or when visible dirt appears.

Selecting a program

choose delicate washLet's now see which washing mode is best to choose for thermal underwear, depending on the model of your washing machine:

  1. There are two suitable programs here: Delicate wash (indicated by a feather) and Hand wash (image – hand with a basin).
  2. The Delicate mode, which is indicated by a flower on the panel, is suitable.
  3. Hand washable. Indicated by the corresponding inscription.
  4. A delicate program indicated by a butterfly.
  5. Here the delicate mode symbolizes the pen.
  6. There are three delicate techniques here: working with thin fabrics (flower), silk fabrics (butterfly) and woolen products (ball of thread).
  7. The delicate pr-mm is indicated here in the form of a small top.
  8. Delicate pr-mm is indicated by the corresponding inscription.
  9. Thermal underwear can be washed with the Wool program, which is indicated on the panel.
  10. Either the “Delicate mode” (flower) or “Manual” mode (hand with a pelvis). The first one is suitable for polyester.

As a rule, any machine is equipped with a function that allows you to wash clothes in the most gentle way, so finding a suitable program for thermal underwear is not such a big problem.

How to dry something?

Even with proper washing, improper drying can lead to negative consequences. To avoid this, you also need to know the basic rules for drying thermal products. They boil down to the following:

  1. Rinse the product thoroughly after the procedure to avoid streaks. It is better to do this manually, but machine rinsing is also quite suitable.
  2. Under no circumstances should you wring out your laundry, no matter how much you want to. As a result of spinning, the product becomes very deformed, and it will be very, very difficult to correct this later.
  3. Thermal underwear should be dried in a well-ventilated area, but not next to artificial heat devices or in the open sun. You can hang it on the balcony, provided that there is no sunlight and the balcony itself is well ventilated.
  4. Merino wool underwear should not be hung on a radiator, as it will shrink several sizes. Other products cannot be dried on the radiator due to the harmful effects of high temperatures.
  5. You can also use a classic dryer or dry it horizontally, as long as you make sure there is enough air flow.
  6. Avoid ironing and using other high-temperature devices (hair dryers, steamers, etc.).

If your item is made of synthetic material, it will be easier to dry it, excess moisture will simply drain off, and then the laundry will dry quite quickly.
