Unfortunately, many apartments in our country are equipped with small bathrooms. Not all owners want to combine a bathroom with a toilet, so to somehow turn around in their bathroom, they go to the trick - they throw out a steel bathroom and install a shower, thereby freeing up space. What can this place be used for? Well, of course, to install a washing machine and some furniture. How to make a small bathroom, which machine to choose there and how to install? Washing machine placement options

In a small bathroom where a cast-iron or steel bath is installed, you will not particularly expand. There is only enough space for this bathroom and sink with sink. If you try to squeeze the washing machine there as well, then in such a room unbearable crowding will definitely reign. If you get rid of the bathroom and put a shower, you can partially free up space, but it will not solve the problem radically.

The fact is that in this case you will have to measure the size of the washing machine and shower. Choose moderate-sized models of equipment so that they enter the small bathroom quietly and can be operated. In addition, you need to think carefully about how it is more profitable to put a washing machine so that the small bathroom does not become even more crowded. In this regard, experts give some recommendations.

1. Do not try to put the washing machine as close as possible to the shower. Firstly, it will make it difficult to open the hatch of the washing machine, and secondly, it will create obstacles at the entrance to the shower.
2. It is best to place the washing machine in the corner of the bathroom, sideways to the wall at the entrance to the room. In this case, you will enter a shower cabin measuring 80x198x80 and 60 cm wide washing machine. The advantage of this arrangement is that you can get into the shower cabin without any problems and the hatch of the washing machine will open wide. 3. Do not put the washing machine in the hatch to the body of the shower. In this situation, there is not enough space to open the hatch of the washing machine, or it will open, but not until the end, which will create inconvenience when laying dirty things in the drum.
4. Be sure to leave a gap between all the walls of the washing machine and the surrounding objects that are also in the bathroom. Do not forget about vibration during the spin cycle.

Which model to choose?

If the washing machine doesn’t “want to adjoin” in any way with the shower in the small bathroom, no matter how you put it, you can solve the problem by radically choosing a smaller washer. Well, if you still do not have a shower or a washing machine, and you just plan to repair the bathroom, then you can look at showers and washing machines a little smaller. For example, there are showers of 70x198x70 cm, if you install one, then you can save as much as 10 cm of space.

If you don’t need a washing machine with a large load of laundry, you can install a compact automatic washing machine, the dimensions of which are about 70x51x44 cm.With such a washing machine, you can afford a larger shower cabin, since these two items will stand next to each other without problems. There are also disadvantages: a drum load of only 3 kg and a simple design that may not be suitable for a smartly designed bathroom. Important! If you do not have enough space for a washer, just a couple of centimeters, you can buy a narrow model with a depth of only 45 cm, not 60. So you will save 15 cm.

Connection to communications

The problem can be created not only by placing the washing machine in the bathroom with a shower, but also by connecting it to communications, namely to water, sewage and electricity. There are several difficulties at once:

• it is necessary to organize separate conclusions of the water supply and sewerage for a shower cabin and a washing machine;
• it is necessary to make sure that pipes and hoses are not visible;
• it is necessary to make sure that the drain and inlet hoses of the washing machine are not too long, otherwise there will be problems with its operation. And too short, otherwise their length is simply not enough. On some models of washing machines, standard hoses have a length of only 1.5 meters.

When making repairs in a small bathroom with a shower cabin, it is necessary even before the stage of laying out the tiles to think about the placement of communications that will be required to connect both the washing machine and the cabin itself. To do this, you need to draw a sketch on which the bathroom with the appliances and furniture placed in it will be depicted, and next is the layout of the communications. Two separate sewer pipe outlets will be required: one short for the shower, and the other long for the washing machine.

You can stretch a long drain of the sewer pipe directly under the tile, leading the pipe near the casing of the automatic washing machine. You can do the same with the tap of the water pipe, so that later you can attach the inlet hose to it. Also for the washing machine you need a separate outlet. To make it, you need to gouge a wire channel in the wall, lay a silicone cable channel, stretch the wire, install a moisture-proof outlet in a convenient place and connect this wire to it.

When everything is ready, we just need to throw the drain hose of the washing machine on the sewer pipe and tighten it with a hose clamp. Next, screw the inlet hose to the outlet of the pipe with cold water and connect the power cable to the outlet. That’s all wisdom.

Note! At the stage of planning the placement of communications, you need to be very careful, because redoing all this later will be problematic.

Interior decoration

What will the bathroom look like in which there is a shower cabin, and even a washing machine? Yes, in general, whatever you like, the issue of design is purely subjective. Someone likes green tile, someone red. Someone loves mirrors, and someone wants to make inserts with the image of flowers. But now we will not argue about tastes, but talk about the general subtleties that must be taken into account when creating the design of a bathroom with a shower and a washer.

1. Creating the design of a small bathtub, in which two bulky interior items are placed: a shower cabin and a washing machine, you should get rid of the feeling of crowding as much as possible. It is necessary to use as light as possible, even pale, colors and glossy surfaces, they will visually expand the room.
2. When creating a design for such a bathroom, try to hide all communication elements as well as possible: pipes, hoses, couplings and the like.
3. Do not overload the design of the room with additional large interior items, there will already be a washing machine with a shower cabin. The maximum that you can afford is a small nightstand or sink under the sink.
4. Install more light sources. The more intense the artificial lighting, the more the bathroom will appear with a washing machine and shower, and the more beneficial the design will look. If you accept mirrors, then hang them more, they will also visually expand the space.
