Samsung washing machine gives an error HE2

mistake NOT2The HE2 error in the Samsung washing machine is quite common. We can safely say that an error with such code or a code with a similar decryption is more common than others. Why it happens? Yes, because the part of the Samsung washing machine that causes this error is its main weak point. Even novice masters know about it. Read what this detail is, how the code for this error is decoded, and how to repair the malfunction that generated this error, read in our publication.

Code Options

Earlier, we have repeatedly said that the error codes of the Samsung washing machines self-diagnosis system are by no means unified. In some models, with a similar breakdown of the machine, the HE2 error pops up, for others E5, for the third E6, and for the fourth in general H1, H2 or HE1. In this scenario, even the master is not confused with deciphering these codes to “just spit,” not like a beginner doing it yourself, so we will recommend that you pay special attention and discretion.

Attention! Decryption codes HE2, E5, E6, H1, H2, HE1 are similar, but not identical. To get more information, you need to study each decryption.

  • N1 - the heating element heats up too quickly, in 2 minutes to 400C and more, which can lead to its burnout.
  • HE1 - fast uncontrolled heating of the heater to 950C and above.
  • HE2 - TEN heats the water in the tank very slowly, no more than 20C for 10 minutes.
  • H2 - TEN does not heat up due to open circuit.
  • E5, E6 - the decoding is similar to H1 and H2, respectively.

Error E6 cannot be confused with error 6E, because these errors are decrypted in completely different ways. There is a separate publication about the error with H2 code on our website, which is called H2 error on the washing machine Samsungif you are interested in the details read it, you will not regret it.

What does it mean?

As we have already indicated, the code HE2 stands for slow heating of water in the tank, by no more than 20C for 10 minutes. In this case, the electronic module receives information from the temperature sensor that the heating element heats the water more slowly than the programmed. The control module immediately responds to this by turning off the heater and stopping the operation of the washing machine, while simultaneously displaying the HE2 code on the display.

If the Samsung washing machine does not have a display, but there is a self-diagnosis system, this error is manifested by a special combination of burning and flashing lights on the control panel. There are two options in this case. First - 60 lights are on0C and 400C, and often light bulbs in front of different washing modes blink. Second - 60 lights are on0C is cold and light bulbs often blink in front of different washing programs.

We do without repair

Unfortunately, when an HE2 error occurs on a Samsung brand washing machine, the case “smells” of repair. According to statistics, in 90% of cases, this error is caused by a breakdown of the heating element, but do not despair and immediately rush to disassemble the washing machine. Try the following.

  • Unplug the washing machine, unplug the power cord from the outlet and wait 2-3 minutes, then turn on the washer and run the program again.
  • The malfunction may be caused by a lack of water in the water supply. Check if your water has been turned off.
  • Check how stable the Samsung washing machine is on the floor and whether it is installed at the level. Sometimes the surface under the washer loses stability and breaks up over time, while the machine starts to sway and vibrate more severely, which causes errors like HE2.

In very rare cases, increased vibration can cause the most unexpected errors, which, it would seem, in general in this case should not occur.

We make repairs ourselves

Having seen the error code HE2 on the display of the Samsung washing machine, it is possible with a 100% guarantee to assume that the circuit is not broken, there is contact, and the temperature sensor regularly supplies information about the operation of the heating element to the control module. Power is supplied to the heater, but for some reason it does not work as it should. In this case, you can contact a qualified craftsman who will solve the problem in a short time, but will take money for work, or make repairs yourself. If you are used to repairing your equipment yourself, do the following.

  1. Unplug the washer and pull it to a place where nothing can disassemble.
  2. Remove any remaining water from the Samsung washing machine. To do this, remove the powder receptacle, and also unscrew the waste filter, not forgetting to put more absorbent rags under it.
  3. Next, you need to remove the top wall of the Samsung washer, as it can interfere with the removal of the control panel.

Samsung washing machine diagram

Note! The heating element of the Samsung washing machine is not on the back of the tank, like most washing machines, but on the front. This means that it will be more difficult to get to it, because for this you will have to remove the front wall of the machine.

  1. We find two screws near the niche of the powder receiver and unscrew them.
  2. We unscrew another screw, which is located on the right end of the control panel.
  3. We remove the clamp that holds the large rubber band of the hatch (cuff) of the Samsung washing machine. There is no need to remove the cuff, just stick it inside the washer deeper.
  4. Dismantle the lower narrow front panel of the Samsung washing machine and remove it to the side. Under it, we see the screws that hold the front panel from the bottom, unscrew them.
  5. We pull off the control panel and put it on the top of the washing machine. Be careful, a large bundle of wires will stretch behind the panel, do not tear anything.
  6. Under the panel, two screws that hold the front wall of the Samsung washing machine on top, unscrew them.
  7. We pull off the front wall of the washing machine, but be careful not to pull it sharply towards you, as the wire from the locking device that is installed near the hatch will stretch behind the wall. In no case can you tear off the wire, carefully disconnect it.

Well, the front wall of the Samsung washing machine has been removed and now we have access to a heating element that sticks out of the tank wall just below the hatch. We remove the wires from it, after photographing their location on the phone, unscrew the fastening nut and pull out the problematic part from the tank.

we remove ten from the washing machine

The most common cause of heating problems is scaling. Widely advertised by Samsung TENy with a ceramic coating, on which, supposedly, no scum is formed, on the contrary, attract it more than ordinary metal heating elements. As a result, even cleaning ten does not help, the part is hopelessly damaged. What to do if you find a similar problem with your car.

  • We find in the store or order a suitable heater, but without ceramic coating.

ceramic heater before and after operation

  • We put it into the tank of the washing machine with our hand through the hole for the heater and clean out all the dirt that we can reach.
  • Using a fine-grained sandpaper, we clean the seat under the new heating element, and then lubricate the walls of the heater's niche with laundry soap.
  • We “put” a new heating element in place, connect the wires to it, and then assemble the washing machine in the reverse order described above.

Summing up, we note that the indignation of the masters of repairing washing machines knew no bounds when they first encountered new heating elements that Samsung began to put on their washers. It is this "miracle of technology" with a ceramic coating that often causes the HE2 error. So be careful and if you have to replace the heater, never put a ceramic heater, the metal is much better. Have a good repair!

Replaced the heating element 1900 volts with 1600, the error continued to be displayed. I had to look with the right power. Everything was fixed (Samsung 5.2kg machine Diamond).
