Can I store a washing machine in the cold?

It is no secret that even after a single use, water remains in the washing machine. If you take the device outside in the cold season, the water will freeze and ice will significantly damage the inside. But there is an opinion that it is possible to store the washing machine in the cold, if it is properly preserved.

Of course, the stories about how frosty condensate destroys all hidden parts of the machine and just kills it from the inside are justified, but they are not too afraid of it. Proof of this - storehouses. It happens that appliances stand there for a long time before getting into the salon of a household appliance store, and storage facilities, as a rule, are not heated even in winter. Equipment at minus temperatures does not deteriorate, although it is tested before release and, accordingly, has water inside.

But, being a simple layman, you still need to play it safe. To preserve a wintering machine is quite simple.

• Disconnect the unit from the water supply, and then pour 50 grams of automotive anti-freeze into the water intake hose.
• Straighten the sewer hose as far as possible so that all the liquid comes out.
• Next, you need to pour a glass of non-freezer directly into the drum of the machine. This is approximately 250 grams.
• Connect the appliance to electricity and start one of the basic washing programs.
• When the machine “tries” to draw water into the drum, blow out the hose and valve.
• Turn on the spin. With its help, an ice-freezer will penetrate inside, into the pump units.

After all procedures, be sure to disconnect the machine from electrical power.

As you can see, preparing SM for winter at the dacha is quite simple, and you do not have to worry about its safety. When the time comes again to actively use the washer, do not forget to idle it before laying and washing things. Non-freezing car fluid must completely exit the system. An “empty” wash will do just fine with this task.

If you just drain it?

Of course, the word “drain” sounds to an uninformed person much easier than “preserve”. However, in reality this is not so. If you correctly deal with the mechanism of preservation of the machine for wintering in an unheated room, then you will manage in an hour, but it will take several days to dry and ventilate the machine:

1. First of all, remove the tray from the niche and unscrew the filter. In this case, the water will not freeze, respectively, in the tray and at the bottom of the tank.
2. This is followed by a drain pump. It is also necessary to unscrew it and put it to dry. In case of freezing, the impeller will suffer, which will make the entire SM impossible.
3. Now disconnect from the water supply, unscrew the drain and inlet hoses and completely empty from the liquid. Screw into place.
4. In order for water to come out of hard-to-reach places, tilt the machine forward. The nozzles and the snail themselves will be free of moisture.
5. Not unimportant detail - the cuff of the hatch. From freezing water on it, the part may dry out, crack and lose tightness. In this case, the hatch simply will not close, and the machine will refuse to wash.

You can dry the cuff by carefully walking on it several times with a dry cloth or napkin.

After the procedure, the machine still needs to be ventilated. To do this, open the door wide and leave the unit in this position for 2-3 days. Only then can the machine be covered with polyethylene and left in an unheated room.
