Error F 08 in the Indesit washing machine

F08 on IndesitOn the Indesit washing machine, the F08 error is considered one of the most dangerous, because often it precedes the spontaneous combustion of the “home assistant”. It sounds awful, but in the practice of our masters there were three such cases. Fortunately, in two situations, only the washing machine body and internal parts were damaged, the owners were at home and managed to put out. But in one case, the hostess left the machine to wash, and she left for shopping, after 4 hours she returned to the ashes. The wooden house burned to the ground and all because of the washing machine.

If the Indesit washing machine suddenly gives an F08 error, it is necessary to immediately de-energize it, because further operation can be dangerous. Moreover, you can not leave the car unattended. The last thing you want to do on the pages of this publication is to read morality, but when you come across the above cases you need to be reminded - do not leave the equipment unattended, it can end in disaster!

Reasons why the code appears

What kind of malfunction can cause such a terribly inherent error with the code F08? First, let's turn to the decryption of this code. F08 on Indesit washing machines, stands for malfunction of the heating element or temperature sensor. To the uninitiated, this decryption can only indicate that the ten or the temperature sensor has burned out and needs to be replaced. In fact, everything is a little more complicated than it seems at first glance. So, what causes the error F08?

  1. Most often this error occurs due to a closed heating element or temperature sensor. According to statistics from service centers, approximately 93% of cases.
  2. In approximately 6% of cases, the F08 error occurs due to a broken control module.
  3. Only in 1% of cases are the culprits either the motor or the wiring through which the leakage of current to the earth occurs.

If you have an Indesit washing machine without a display, then remember that on such washes, the F08 error is shown by a lit “quick wash” indicator and a blinking indicator indicating the drum speed.

Heating element or temperature sensor?

ten for the Indesit washing machineFirst of all, it is necessary to check the heating element for operability, because one way or another you will have to “dance” from it. You need to ring a ten megameter on the body of the washing machine and if the numerical value on the display is less than 20 mOhm, you can breathe a sigh of relief - the problem is found, you just need to change the heating element. If the ten normally rings, you will have to think further. So, do the following:

  • open the washing machine housing from the back wall;
  • if the drive belt interferes, then remove it;
  • remove all wires from the heater and temperature sensor;
  • inspect the heater with the sensor visually;

In the hizode of the veil inspection, we will mainly be interested in traces of corrosion around the temperature sensor. It is she who can provoke an error F08 (from the practical experience of our masters).

replacement ten on an Indesit washing machine

  • we call ten, as indicated above.

If you find signs of corrosion, rust and the like around the temperature sensor, feel free to change the heater completely. No cleaning and washing with alcohol will help, believe our experience, the part can not be restored. Get and put an original heating element, and you will be happy.

Engine or wiring?

current leakage may occur through the motorThe Indesit washing machine can throw a “fortake” in the form of a system error F08, if it was previously used in high humidity conditions. In principle, there is nothing surprising here, because the washing machine is usually placed either in the bathroom or in the kitchen closer to the water supply and sewage, and in such rooms humidity is a normal occurrence. Moisture, getting inside the case, over time becomes the cause of oxidation of the contacts, and this, in turn, provokes error F08.

It must be assumed that if the heating element and the temperature sensor are fully operational, corrosion is most likely to blame, or the dust from the brushes of the collector motor, which spoils the contacts, is not worse, or maybe even better. To check this version you will have to ring the motor, then remove it and check all the contacts, including the brush ones, blow them and clean them. How to dismantle the inspection engine of the Indesit washing machine and check it is described in the article Repair and inspection of the washing machine motor. Wiring and chips going to the engine will also have to be checked.

Control module

Suppose that we did not succeed in discovering anything, despite all our efforts. Error F08 still freezes, not giving us rest, and there are less and less positive ideas about what the problem may be in. It remains to turn our eyes to the control module. Other things being equal, only he can hide the defect that caused the unfortunate mistake.

Here it would be possible to dismantle the module and begin the test, but for our part we will try to dissuade you from this. Firstly, working with an electronic module requires time and experience. Secondly, there is a big risk of “breaking through” an expensive part. Thirdly, the likelihood of success in handicraft electronics repair is very small. So is it worth it to tempt fate, spend extra money, spoil your nerves? Isn’t it better to immediately turn to a good master who can fix such a simple module without problems, although, of course, you decide!

Summing up, we note that the F08 error is not so simple and can throw a lot of surprises even to an experienced master. Therefore, performing repairs, or even troubleshooting, do everything extremely carefully. Good luck

    Thanks, intelligibly.

    And mine seems to have come to an end. The old woman worked for 11 years!

  3. Gravatar Vladimir Vladimir:

    And ours was purchased in May 2005, there was not a single breakdown. There was a time for everything, in October 2017, she got up, apparently she was just tired.

  4. Gravatar Dmitry Dmitriy:

    Indesit worked 12 years without breakdowns. Was purchased in 2005. Italian assembly.

    F08 - diagnostic result: heater, the sensor is OK, but the brushes are Err. Replaced them and the machine as new. Indesit WISE-8.

    Great article, all the details to the smallest detail! Thank you so much!!!
    F08 crawled out after a small flood, and apparently part of the water flowed behind the machine (it poured out through the slot at the bottom of the door due to the sock pressed by his wife). After a night of drying - until approx. Moreover, the machine began to blink off, just after “plugging” the cord into the outlet somewhere after 10-15 minutes.
    PS: The Italian assembly is a thing - 15 years, three times pah (at 10 years - a change of brushes, but for some reason the sound was scary - as if the bearing died 🙂
