Warranty period and conditions for the dishwasher

guarantee periodThe length of the warranty for a dishwasher is another argument for or against its purchase. If a manufacturer gives a long guarantee for its products, it means that he is confident in its quality, and this in itself is very attractive to the buyer. It occurred to us to study which brands of dishwashers have the longest warranty, and which companies provide the most loyal warranty service. We will present our research on the page of this article; we hope that our material will be useful to you.

Duration of warranty service

Most manufacturers have a short general warranty period for their dishwashers. Usually it does not exceed five years. However, companies, in pursuit of gullible customers, resort to various tricks and tricks, establishing a separate warranty for various components and assemblies, not forgetting to widely advertise this.

For example, Bosch provides a 1-year warranty on most of its machines. But the warranty on the housing and leakage protection system is as much as 10 years. The buyer sees a large sticker on the body of the dishwasher “10 years warranty” and thinks that the entire machine has such a guarantee. In fact, if you carefully read everything that is written on the sticker, it turns out that it is written in smaller letters in a circle, that for 10 years the company guarantees the protection of the housing from through corrosion and the operation of the Aquastop system. It seems to be not a deception, but an indirect misrepresentation. What about other manufacturers?

  1. Electrolux manufactures most dishwashers with a 2-year warranty.At the same time, if the buyer wishes to increase the warranty period, he can do this for a fee. For about $22, you can extend the warranty for 1 year, for $30 for 2 years, and for $38 for 3 years.

An additional guarantee is issued with a special certificate, which is pinned to the insert with the main guarantee.

  1. Owners of the Hansa brand have installed a 1-year warranty on their equipment. They do not provide any additional warranty or warranty extension services. Nevertheless, reviews of Hansa dishwashers tell us that this technology is far from second-rate.
  2. The warranty for Beko dishwashers is only 1 year, but their sales are growing, because the price of this equipment is record low, and the quality is good, consumers are satisfied.
  3. Quite expensive dishwashing equipment from the Siemens brand, which has earned its impeccable reputation for good reason, nevertheless does not provide a long-term guarantee for its equipment. The warranty for most models is no more than 1 year, which is strange, because their dishwashers last 8-15 years without any problems.
  4. As with Electrolux appliances, Zanussi installs a 1-year general warranty on its dishwashers, but it can be extended. The prices are the same as for extending the warranty on Electrolux machines. You can extend the maximum by 3 years and get a total of 4 years of warranty, but how justified is this?

As we see, leading manufacturers of dishwashing equipment are in no hurry to establish a long warranty on their products, and there are reasons for this. Craftsmen have been talking for quite some time about the deterioration in the quality of materials and the reduction in the cost of production. Their experience suggests that the greater the proportion of unreliable plastic parts, the greater the risk of machine failure. So a small warranty on equipment is not a whim of companies, but rather a forced measure, and judging by what the experts say, it will only get worse.

When is free repair possible and when is it not?

repair under warrantyNow let's figure out in what cases the service center is obliged to carry out warranty repairs on the dishwasher, and in which cases it may refuse. The buyer has the right to receive warranty technical service if the service center technician determines that the cause of any breakdown was a manufacturing defect or improper storage conditions before the equipment was sold to the buyer. In this case, the service center is obliged to eliminate all defects at the expense of the company, and if this is not possible, to compensate the buyer for losses at the expense of the seller.

A dishwasher can also be repaired under warranty in cases where it breaks down under normal operating conditions (without violations on the part of the buyer). This may be premature natural wear of parts, a short circuit in electrical circuits, failure of semiconductor elements, etc. Warranty repairs may be refused without loss of warranty as a whole if:

  • the electronic or electrical components of the dishwasher have failed as a result of electrical problems;
  • the breakdown occurred as a result of low-quality tap water getting into the dishwasher;
  • the breakdown occurred as a result of force majeure: flood, fire, earthquake, etc.

If the dishwasher breaks down due to the fault of third parties, the owner is not deprived of the right to present justified claims to them, but for this he will have to go to court. There are many precedents.Quite a few lawsuits were filed against energy supply organizations, due to whose fault the household appliances of one or more consumers burned down. In this case, the courts most often side with the consumer, so the problem can be solved. If you fail to request free repairs from the service center, you can compensate for losses by filing a lawsuit against the direct culprit.

How can you lose warranty service?

Many people realize that if you install the dishwasher yourself and do it incorrectly, you can lose the warranty. Unfortunately, this is where their knowledge about possible options for loss of warranty service ends. In fact, the very fact of installing a dishwasher yourself does not lead to loss of warranty; this is caused by violations of the installation technology described in the instructions. In addition, free dishwasher service may be denied if:

  • intentional mechanical damage was caused to the equipment;

We are talking about damage during transportation, carrying, as well as damage caused by children, etc.

  • the rules for using the dishwasher prescribed in the instructions were grossly violated;
  • the breakdown occurred as a result of unqualified handicraft repair of the dishwasher;
  • There were violations when preparing warranty documentation.

So, the terms of warranty service for all companies producing dishwashers are different. Some resort to tricks and tricks, but basically everyone has the same approach. A long warranty is rare, and all because everyone is trying to make their products as cheaply as possible from cheap and not always high-quality materials.
