How to hide hoses from a washing machine

In order for the machine to work properly, the electrical and water supply communications must be located correctly so that nothing pinches them or interferes with their functioning. In this article we will tell you how to hide hoses from a washing machine and still maintain their functionality.

Basic Rules

When planning the installation, first of all you need to take into account that the back wall of the washer has many protrusions. Even if you think you've given the wires enough space, the wires can get caught on protrusions and become damaged or compressed. This cannot be allowed! Therefore, as a rule, people leave about 10 cm between the back of the car and what stands behind it (furniture, wall). In extreme cases, you can get by with 5-8, but then it will be more difficult to position the hoses correctly.

Important! The drain hose has some installation features. For example, there must be a bend, and the hose itself must be located at a certain height from the floor. Take this into account when planning.

If you are faced with the fact that it is impossible to carve out at least 5-8 centimeters for wires and hoses, then it is unlikely that you will be able to install a washing machine in this place. Typically, people prefer to install a washing machine in the bathroom. In this case, there are several recommendations suitable for any device and for any room. For example, some craftsmen advise placing the washing machine with the side wall facing the bathtub and the back wall against the wall so that you can pull out the drain hose and the water supply hose under the bathtub. This way there will be enough space for the hoses and they will be hidden from view.

As for the power cord, it is much thinner and takes up less space, so you can leave literally 4-5 centimeters between the back of the car and the wall. This distance will not be noticeable, and all communications will be installed correctly!

Some experts suggest covering the end of the bathroom, for example, with plasterboard boxes, where the hoses should be hidden. You can also brick the end of the bathroom or cover it with a screen, and make holes for hoses in the resulting ceiling. It all depends on what you like best and which layout you consider more aesthetically pleasing.

In some cases, due to the small size of apartments or poorly thought-out furnishings, the washing machine has to be installed sideways to the wall, that is, the back wall is visible with all its unaesthetic structures. In this case, the craftsmen advise connecting all the hoses and wires to the communications, and then covering the back wall with some kind of curtain: matte or in the color of the washing machine. With the right approach, it will look very decorative, and all wires and taps will be hidden.

Some users prefer to install washing machines, for example, in the kitchen or in the hallway, where there are no objects such as a bathtub under which hoses can be conveniently hidden.In this case, the craftsmen advise installing the machine with its back against the wall, in which you need to make a hole in advance. This way, everything will be hidden in the wall and you won’t have to place the machine at a visible distance from the object behind. Many more craftsmen practice creating some kind of plywood boxes in which wires and hoses are hidden. This is an interesting way to decorate an unaesthetic structure and at the same time place the washing machine where it is convenient for you.

In any case, you need to proceed first of all from considerations of ease of use, and then from the beauty of the view. However, if you can hide unsightly wires and hoses, do it!
