Salt filter in a washing machine

Salt filter in a washing machineEveryone knows that the water supplied to our apartments is rich in various impurities that make it hard. Due to such elements, limescale, scale and rust are formed, which cause discomfort to the user and even damage the washing machine. However, there is salvation - a salt filter for a washing machine. We will tell you what this is in the article.

What does the filter look like and work?

A salt filter is designed to prevent chemical reactions in water that lead to the formation of harmful deposits. How it works? The device itself resembles a transparent flask filled with crystals and closed with a knob lid.

  1. The crystals inside are polyphosphates. They combine with water and “paralyze” the calcium and magnesium molecules that form salts. Accordingly, the substances do not react with other impurities and do not contribute to the appearance of deposits and sediments.
  2. The flask is made transparent so that the level of polyphosphate filling can be observed. Gradually they dissolve in water and decrease in quantity. As a rule, one bookmark is enough for 365 washes.
  3. The lid is equipped with two holes to which water pipes are connected.

Sometimes people prefer to install several filters at once, but it is quite possible to get by with salt filters, since the main difficulties are created by scale and limescale. But if you still have doubts, you can try installing a filter that purifies the water from coarse and fine sand.

Attention! When you replenish the filter with polyphosphates, turn off the water supply to the unit and disconnect it from the power supply to avoid an accident.

Filter installation

the filter is placed on the inlet hoseBefore installing the filter, turn off the water supply in your apartment, because the device is mounted on a branch of the water pipe responsible for drawing water into the machine. To install the filter device:

  • disconnect the inlet hose through which water enters the machine;
  • attach the filter to the pipe, the thread of the device, as a rule, matches the thread on the pipes, so this should not be a problem;
  • then connect the hose to the filter so that the device is between the pipe and the hose.

That's all! Any person can easily cope with such a procedure without any special training.

Which filter to buy

Among the many salt filters manufactured by a huge number of companies, there are several favorites that completely satisfy users with their characteristics, as well as the price-quality ratio. Here they are.one of the best salt filters

  1. Geyser 1 PF. This $2 filter is designed to purify water not only in washing machines, but also in dishwashers, as well as in boilers. If you want to clean water in several devices at once, the filter must be installed on the pipe responsible for supplying water to the apartment, and not to a separate unit.
  2. Aquaphone Styron. This is a part from a domestic manufacturer. Its price is slightly higher - $3, since the filter completely replaces any powdered anti-scale agents. It can also be used for washing machines and dishwashers, but is installed between the hose and the device.
  3. Filter doser WFST, BEST-2.This device is capable of purifying up to 20 thousand liters of water from hard salts. It is made in Poland and holds about 100 grams. This filter is installed between the water supply hose and the tap and primarily protects the heating elements.
  4. Atmor ATP. This Israeli filter costs about $3 and is the most popular among users. It is distinguished by high quality workmanship and durability of the materials from which it is made. Very easy to use.

It's up to you to decide whether a salt filter is right for you, but in any case, it won't make things worse. The water will be softer, so the items being washed will not deteriorate much, and lime, scale, rust and other contaminants accompanied by an unpleasant odor will no longer accumulate on the elements of the machine. We think few people like this.
