How to remove the top cover of a Samsung washing machine

To repair an automatic washing machine from the Samsung line, in the vast majority of cases you will have to remove the top cover of the unit housing. This will be needed, firstly, to gain access to some important parts located underneath it, and secondly, to freely remove other elements of the washing machine, for example, its front wall of the case. So, let's discuss how to disconnect the top cover of a Samsung washing machine to gain free access to the remaining parts of the device and carry out all the necessary diagnostic and repair work.

Opening access to the back of the case

The preparatory stage of work begins with actions that allow access to the back of the automatic washing machine. This is due to the fact that the bolts that hold the top cover are located at the back, and in order to unscrew them, you must have free access to this part of the case.

In the case when the machine is located permanently, there should not be any special problems in moving it away from the wall and turning it a little. It’s another matter when the washing machine is built into the kitchen unit. This situation will complicate the preparatory stage of work a little, because you will have to remove the device from the furniture, having first disconnected all the hoses from the house communications. Disabling occurs as follows:

• de-energize the SMA;
• close the valve responsible for supplying water to the drum;
• disconnect the inlet hose;
• loosen the clamp slightly and carefully separate the drain hose from the sewer pipe.

Pull out the washer slowly and carefully so as not to damage the body, furniture, or floor covering.It would be ideal to lay several floor rags in the place where the Samsung washing machine is being manipulated; they will absorb water that may spill out of the unit when it is moved.

Step-by-step instruction

Removing the top cover of the case is not difficult at all. Basically, it is much more difficult to get access to the back of the device, and this is where most of the time is spent. The algorithm for removing the top of a Samsung washing machine will be as follows:

• prepare a Phillips screwdriver of the appropriate size;
• go around the back of the unit, find the bolts holding the upper wall;
  
• Unscrew the screws one at a time and set them aside. Be careful, there may be small washers under the bolts, make sure they don’t get lost;
• proceed to disconnecting the cover; to do this, move it back relative to the washer, then carefully lift it up.
  

As you can see, the step-by-step instructions are quite simple. However, there may be a situation where the top cover does not move back at all. This can be explained simply: it has become a little “stuck” to the fixing elements. You can deal with this problem in just a couple of minutes.

To begin, look at the upper part of the MCA and visually divide it in half, an imaginary line should run across the body. Then lightly tap the top cover in the middle, then on the right and left sides. Try moving the cover again; if it does not budge, perform the above steps again, applying a little more force.

To install the top cover back, you must repeat the same steps in reverse order. Place it in place with a slight shift, about 5 or 7 centimeters. Then, using both palms, begin to move the part forward towards the control panel. When the housing cover fits into the grooves, you will hear a characteristic click, after which you should move it forward a little more, so it will finally fall into place. All that remains is to tighten the mounting bolts and connect the device to utilities and the electrical network.
