How to open the top cover of an Indesit washing machine

Knowing how to remove the top cover of an Indesit machine can come in handy if you decide to fix it with your own problems. With the lid on the machine, you will not be able to get to important elements of the “home assistant”, such as a filling valve, counterweight or pressure switch. At the same time, it is not so easy to do this - the first time without understanding how it is fixed, you can’t remove it at all.

Get ready first

If you watched how professionals are repairing, it might seem to you that no preparation is necessary to carry out. This is not so: an experienced master acts almost automatically, which makes him seem to get down to business immediately. We, as beginners, must ensure maximum safety and convenience before removal:

• disconnect the washing machine from the wires, outflow and water supply systems;
• remove the washing machine from the wall for full access to it;
• twist the wire and hoses so that they do not interfere during operation.

Also do not forget to prepare a Phillips and flat head screwdriver in advance.

Working process

In order to open the cover of the washing machine, you need to take several steps. Perform them accurately and consistently to achieve the desired effect.

1. Self-tapping screws (2 or 3) are screwed just below the cover. They must be removed.
2. Press down on the top, moving it parallel to the floor. It should shift by 2-5 cm.
3. Carefully lift the cover up.

These steps are also suitable for Samsung brand models.

After that, you can start repairing the internal parts. After that, do not forget to put the cover back in place, having done steps 3 and 2 in the opposite directions, and also tightly screwing the screws into place.

If a top-loading machine

In this case, there are no self-tapping screws, which simplifies extraction. However, a screwdriver will still come in handy: using it, you need to pry the cover. Next, pull it up first and then to yourself. Everything, the cover is removed!

There are times when the top cover of a top-loading machine cannot be removed without removing the side panels. However, there will not be any special difficulties:

1. Unscrew the screws.
2. We pull the panel down vertically to the floor.
3. We remove by pulling on ourselves.
4. Repeat the same with the opposite side.

Next, you can unscrew the screws on the top panel and remove it. When loosening screws from the side panels, carefully fold the grounding washers in a separate place so as not to lose.
