LG washer buzzes when draining water

LG washer buzzes when draining waterThe noise within acceptable limits emitted by the automatic washing machine during operation is quite natural and explainable. Only a purchased washing machine, installed in accordance with all the requirements and rules, all the same, will not ensure silent functioning. An abnormal situation is where the technique makes uncharacteristic, loud noises. Tapping, rattle, noise are sometimes noted during water intake, rotation of the drum during the main wash, at the rinse, spin cycle. So, let's figure out why the pump is buzzing when draining water in the LG washing machine.

Where does this unpleasant sound come from?

There can be several reasons provoking an overly noisy operation of an automatic machine. Most of them appear during the main wash. What can cause a strong hum of the washing machine exactly when draining the waste liquid? Before the water begins to leave the tank, the pump starts up, so the main reason for the noise should be sought in the drain pump. The pump growls when draining for one of the reasons:

  • if there is a blockage;
  • if the pump is damaged;
  • when the drain hose or nozzles become clogged;
  • when garbage accumulates in the drain filter.

“Growling” noise usually occurs at the end of the rinse, but before spinning. However, the washing machine may begin to buzz after the end of the cycle, already at the final stage of draining the water. What to do when reporting problems, we will describe further.

How to deal with the problem?

It is not difficult to identify and eliminate the reason why the washing machine is very noisy. Even the layman will cope with the upcoming work front. Where to start the repair? With parts that are easiest to check. In this case, the first thing to do is inspect the trash filter.first clean the filter

The drain filter is located on ElGi's washers below, in the right corner, behind a small panel. To open the sash, use a slotted screwdriver, insert the tip of the tool into the slot and gently pry the door, which easily opens. After you must do the following:

  • take a piece of cloth and put it under the machine, the rag will absorb water flowing from the filter hole;
  • unscrew the cover in the direction from right to left;
  • remove the filter element from the housing and wash it, preferably with detergent;
  • Inspect the hole that appears after removing the drain filter. Remove accumulated debris from the cavity, wipe the walls from dirt;
  • install the trash filter in its original place, carefully, so as not to break the thread, tighten the lid;
  • start the machine cycle in test mode, check whether it was possible to cope with the noise.

If the drain filter is very clogged, it may not be possible to unscrew it in this way, and you will have to remove the element with the pump from the inside of the housing.

When the inspection has shown that the trash filter has no blockages, it is necessary to inspect other elements of the system: the drain hose and the pump. The hose is located in plain sight, on the back of the body, but to disconnect it for inspection, you must access the pump.

The drain pump on most LG washing machine models is located at the bottom of the housing. To remove it, it is enough to de-energize the machine, disconnect it from the communications and lay it on its side. After that, remove the pump, inspect its chamber for debris, and thoroughly clean the impeller of the pump. If you are afraid to carry out this procedure with your own hands, you can invite a specialist.

After cleaning the drain pump, inspect the hose and nozzles well. So, first of all, disconnect the drain hose attached to the pump with a special clamp. The other end of the tube is already disconnected from the sewer pipe connector. The hose will be completely in your hands, you have to rinse the element well and eliminate the existing blockage.clean the drain hose

Cleaning the drain hose is carried out using a special rod at the end equipped with a brush. The diameter of the cable should not exceed 1 cm. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  • insert the rod into the drain hose;
  • move the cable back and forth inside the tube;
  • rinse the cavity under the tap, running water;
  • reinstall the drain hose;
  • assemble the washing machine and connect it to the networks.

After a small repair is completed, the equipment should be put into operation in test mode. It is advisable at this stage to add a special tool designed to clean the "insides" of the machine. If damage to the drain hose or pump is detected, replace the item with a working one.

What to do to prevent the hum from appearing?

To minimize the risk of loud noise and not to repair the washing machine for as long as possible, carefully operate the equipment. By observing certain rules, you can increase the life of the "home assistant" and its individual components. Important:

  • periodically service the washing equipment;
  • apply a softener for hard water;
  • regularly remove scale and plaque from the "inside" of the machine;
  • frequently clean the unit drain filter;
  • at the beginning of washing, carefully check the laundry loaded in the drum for paper or small items in pockets.

Foreign objects forgotten in the erased items will settle in the drainage system, which will increase the likelihood of clogging of the pump, filter and nozzles.

You can repair the washing machine and get rid of loud noises yourself. To eliminate the buzz that appears when removing waste water from the tank, cleaning will help, and if necessary, replacing elements of the drain system.
