Drain from the dishwasher to the drain

discharge of water from PMMThe dishwasher cannot work autonomously. She needs a connection to cold or hot water, as well as a connection to the sewer. Connections must be organized reliably so that the hoses do not accidentally break and a flood occurs. Today we’ll talk about how to drain the dishwasher into the sewers. We will discuss what ways you can connect to the sewer system, what you will need for this and give instructions for the work.

Connection options

To properly connect the dishwasher to the sewer, you must choose a connection method, purchase the necessary materials, assemble the tools, and then, according to the instructions, make the connection yourself. Let's start with the connection options. In some cases, people generally do not “bother” with connecting the drain hose of the dishwasher to the sewer. They just throw the free end of this hose into the sink. When the machine starts draining water, sewage goes into the sink and drains into the sewer.

This option of “connection” cannot be called aesthetic and practical, because after each use of the dishwasher you have to wash the sink. If we talk about the real connection of PMM to the sewage system, then there are three main methods.

  1. Direct connection of the dishwasher to the drainage pipe. This option is very simple, but it is not suitable for everyone, because not everyone in the kitchen has free sewer bends. Usually there is one tap and it is already connected to a siphon.

  2. Connect the drain hose to the siphon fitting. This is the most popular way. Modern siphons have several fittings that remain muffled in an unused state. If you now look under the sink, you can make sure that your siphon also has a fitting. If not, you will have to change the siphon. The PMM drain hose is connected to the fitting and sewage from the machine goes into the sewer through a siphon.

  3. Connection through a tee. This method is good in case you have a dishwasher and a washing machine in your kitchen right away. A special tee is placed between the siphon and the sewer pipe. The drain hoses of the washing machine and dishwasher are connected to its two outputs.
    connection through a tee

It turns out very convenient. Sewage from the washing machine, from the sink and from the dishwasher is pumped through one tee. All this goes into the sewer without any problems.

Having chosen the connection option, you should not rush to get to work. It is necessary to estimate the distance from the place of placement of the dishwasher to the point of its connection to the sewer. You may ask: why do this? And we will answer: if the distance from the dishwasher to the point of connection to the sewer is more than 3 meters, there is a risk of spoiling the pump, which, pumping sewage with the highest load, will wear out twice as fast. It is very important to try to put the PMM closer to the sewer.

We collect everything you need

If we are only talking about connectingdishwasher whirlpool (or any other) to the sewer, no special tools will be required. It is enough to take only an adjustable wrench, and a “fumka” for winding. The composition of the components will depend on your chosen method of connecting the machine to the sewer. Organize a direct connection? Then you need an adapter for a 40 or 50 mm sewer pipe, depending on which pipe you have installed, two clamps and a check valve.

In the event that you decide to connect to the siphon fitting, then you generally will not need accessories. Of course, provided that you already have a siphon under the sink in the kitchen, which has a free side fitting. When connecting the drain hose through a tee, you will need a tee with a diameter of 40 or 50 mm, 4 clamps, 4 adapters of the corresponding diameter and a check valve.

Connection process description

Now you can proceed to connecting the PMM to the sewer. We will describe the connection process through the tee that we mentioned in the previous paragraph.

  1. First, set the dishwasher body strictly in level. In principle, this should be done immediately, before the organization of the connection process, but we decided to remind you of this again.
  2. We check that the hose reaches the connection point and there is still some margin so that the drain hose can be bent.

The drain hose must reach so that the distance to the floor is at least 40 cm.

  1. Between the siphon and the pipe we put a tee, having previously installed adapters on it and wearing clamps.
  2. We install a check valve on the branch of the tee.
  3. We connect the drain hose to the outlet of the check valve.
  4. The free outlet of the tee is either muffled, or we connect the drain hose of the washing machine to it.
  5. We wrap the connections with a “bag” and tighten with clamps.
  6. We bend the drain hose so that the unpleasant odor from the sewer does not get into the dishwasher.

Why do you need a check valve. You can, of course, do without it, but then troubles can arise. If clogging occurs in the sewer, the non-return valve will save the dishwasher from sewage, which, in this case, can rush back into the PMM system. Such a valve is inexpensive, so it is better to put it.

As you can see, it’s not difficult to connect the dishwasher to the sewer system; we can say that it’s even simple. The main thing is to know the basic rules and in no case to violate them, the rest is trifles. Good luck
