The impeller of the washing machine drain pump flies

The impeller of the washing machine drain pump fliesIf during the diagnostics of a washing machine you found out that a plastic impeller began to fly off the drain pump, you can repair the part yourself. This can be done in two ways: by reanimating the old impeller of the pump, re-placing it in its seat, or by completely replacing the pump.

The restoration of the impeller itself will be ineffective, since its “collapse” occurs due to wear of not the plastic part itself, but namely the seat. A more reliable option is to replace the pump. We will analyze both methods of troubleshooting, explain how to do it yourself.

Change the pump

If the impeller of the drain pump of the washing machine has flown off, it will be most correct to install a new pump. We will try to explain in detail how to dismantle the old part and mount the new pump with our own hands. The algorithm of actions is quite simple, and can be used for washing models LG, Whirlpool, Ariston, Candy, Samsung, Beko, Ardo.

  1. Carefully lay the machine on its side, it is better to lay a soft blanket under it to avoid damage to the casing wall.
  2. If the washer has a bottom, unscrew the bolts holding it and put the tray to the side.do not forget to disconnect the wiring and clamp
  3. Remove the back of the washing machine.
  4. Use your hands to inspect the drain hose for foreign objects and blockages.
  5. Loosen the nozzle retaining ring and disconnect the hose from the drain pump.
  6. Unscrew the screws holding the pump, disconnect the power wires connected to it, and remove the element from the housing.
  7. Install a new pump, to do this, fix the part in the housing, connect the wiring and the drain pipe.

If you own a Bosh, AEG or Siemens brand washing machine, the algorithm will be a little different.

  1. Remove the bolts holding the top cover of the unit, remove it.
  2. Remove the detergent tray from the cabinet.the pump can be screwed
  3. Unscrew the bolts securing the control panel for the washer, then, using a flat screwdriver, unfasten the special plastic latches around its perimeter.
  4. Carefully lay the control panel on top of the chassis without disconnecting the power wires.
  5. Remove the bezel located at the bottom of the washer under the hatch door.
  6. Loosen the clamp holding the cuff of the hatch, remove it and thread the sealing gum inside the drum.
  7. Disconnect the wires leading to the sunroof lock.
  8. Unscrew the self-tapping screws holding the front wall of the case, remove the panel to the side.
  9. Find the drain pump and disassemble it.
  10. Install a properly functioning element by connecting the drain hose and power wires to it.
  11. Assemble the machine in the reverse order.

This method of repair will be the most correct. After the drain pump has been completely replaced, the part will last for several years, while if you replace the impeller, which has fallen off, you run the risk of encountering the same problem after several wash cycles.

Put the impeller in place

If it is not possible to quickly acquire a new drain pump, you can use the simpler, but at the same time not too reliable option - try to put the impeller in place using waterproof glue or sealant. If you fix the plastic part in this way, you can correct the situation, but literally for several wash cycles. It will not work for a long time to operate the machine, since the impeller will soon fall off and failure will again occur in the system for draining the waste liquid.try to put the impeller on the glue

So, if the impeller is broken, and there is no time for a full replacement of the pump, you can do the following:

  • gain access to the impeller mounting location;
  • dry well the shaft onto which the plastic part "rises";
  • degrease the shaft with a special tool;
  • apply anaerobic sealant or moisture resistant glue to the seat;
  • “Plant” the impeller of the pump on the shaft.

Please note that this method will not fix the problem, but will only help to temporarily cope with it.

Try to replace the faulty drain pump with a new one as soon as possible. So you can forget about the problem with draining water for many years.

If the impeller is cranking?

In such a situation, the automatic washing machine starts draining the spent liquid from the tank, then the pressure becomes very small, and as a result, the water leaves either for a very long time or does not drain completely and remains in the tank. In appearance, the drain pump may seem completely working, the impeller of the pump is firmly “sitting” in place, so what's the problem?

Most likely, the impeller turns. During normal operation, if you rotate it with your fingers, the impeller should spin in jerks, this indicates that the pump magnet overcomes the resistance. When the impeller rotates freely, it rotates on the axis without stopping, which means that the device does not work properly. This scrolling caused can be foreign objects that periodically fall into the drainage system or a banal factory defect.

The solution to the problem will be one - a complete replacement of the drainage pump of the washing machine. You can buy it at specialized retail outlets or online stores by the model number of the machine.
