How to replace the inlet and outlet hose of the dishwasher

replacing hoses in the dishwasherThe inlet and drain hose in the dishwasher are accessories that are supplied to the market along with the equipment itself. The manufacturer gives a good guarantee on them, and therefore breakage or defects with them arise very rarely. However, the situations are different, it may turn out that you will be one of those rare cases when the hose breaks, it may happen that the hoses will not be in the kit at all due to the fault of the manufacturer, or they will be, but too short. In general, a hose replacement or extension may be required, so we will explain in detail how to do this correctly.

Repair Preparation

To get started, prepare for the repair yourself and get ready for the dishwasher. First of all, we disconnect the car from the electric network, water supply and sewerage. Then we push it into the open space, after laying the cellophane and a large rag. This is necessary so that the remaining water does not spill on the floor, and it was convenient for you to work.

Next, prepare the necessary tools that may be required during the work, namely: screwdrivers and pliers. Prepare the inlet and outlet hose immediately. Before buying, determine how long the hoses should be, it is not allowed to connect the hoses to the interference fit.

Inlet hoses are produced with a length of 1.5 to 5 m, the length of 2-2.5 m is considered optimal, the drain hose is sold with a meter, that is, cut as much as necessary.

inlet hoseWhen choosing a water inlet and drain hose, be careful. The inlet hose must have a technical passport indicating its parameters; if there is no such passport, then the numbers should be indicated on the hose itself. First of all, this is the maximum allowable water supply pressure, working pressure and temperature for which the inlet hose is designed. As a rule, cold water hoses have an operating temperature of 20-250C, and for hot water 60-700WITH.

The inlet hose is made of polyvinyl chloride, and a fitting with a plastic nut is attached at the ends of such a hose. Fittings can be straight and angled, angled attached to the dishwasher. In addition, some hoses are equipped with a special valve (Aqua stop) designed to protect against water leakage. Such a water inlet hose costs significantly more.

Change the inlet hose

Replacing the inlet hose in the dishwasher is quite simple. In most dishwasher models, the inlet hose is connected to the machine at the back at the bottom of the housing. For example, Samsung and Hotpoint-Ariston brand dishwashers. To replace the hose, it is enough to carefully unscrew the nut of the hose by hand and screw the new one in place of the old one.

On some models of dishwashers, the inlet hose goes inside the machine, in order to remove such a inlet hose, it will be necessary to disassemble the case a little. For convenience, the car can be put on its side or put upside down. It is necessary to unscrew the lower front bar and the bottom. After that, access to the internal parts will open, in the front of the dishwasher there is an inlet hose connected to the inlet valve. Using a small wrench, you can unscrew the old water supply hose and connect a new one in its place.

If there is no need to replace the water supply hose, but it is only necessary to lengthen it, then in this case one more inlet hose of such a length will need to be extended onto which the hose and a special coupling are to be extended. A brass coupling is best used than a plastic one. So, the inlet hose coming from the dishwasher is screwed to one end of the coupling, an extension cord is screwed onto the second end of the coupling, and then the extended hose is connected to the water supply.

Note! Experts still recommend not to extend the water supply hose, but to replace it.After all, an additional joint is an additional risk of water leakage.

Change the drain hose

The drain hose can be connected to the dishwasher in various places, from the bottom left, from the bottom right, and even above, it all depends on the model and brand of the dishwasher. Consider the process of replacing a hose using the Gorenje dishwasher as an example.

  1. First, disconnect the drain hose from the machine body by removing it from the plastic latches.
  2. For convenience, lay the machine on its left side to provide access to the right side.
  3. Prepare rags in case there is a little water left in the pan.
  4. Remove the 4 screws at the base of the machine, remove the bottom and set it aside.
Be careful, do not jerk the bottom sharply, since the device is fixed on it from water leaks, you can accidentally tear off the wires.
  5. Using pliers, carefully remove the clamp holding the drain hose to circulation pump. This the clamp will have to be replaced with the hose, since it cannot be reused.

  9. Insert a new hose into the hole, connect it to the pump, and tighten the clamp.
  10. Assemble the car.

If necessary, extend the drain hose, you need to purchase a hose extension cord of the desired length, 3 new clamps and a herringbone adapter. The adapter is inserted at the end of the hose going from the machine and into the extension hose. Both hoses are secured with clamps. Then the second end of the extension hose is put on the siphon branch and secured with a hose clamp.

Important! After replacing the water supply hose or the drain hose, it is imperative to start the test washing of the dishwasher in order to check its operation and the tightness of the hose connection.

Thus, it is not as difficult to replace or extend the drain and inlet hoses of the dishwasher as it might seem at first glance. Be patient, act according to the instructions and you will succeed.
