Repair of dishwashers

Repair PMM BurningThere are many admirers of the Gorenie technique who claim that it is so reliable that it almost does not break. Our masters do not share their optimism, therefore, they helped to prepare this publication, in which we, in their words, described in detail the repair of Gorenje dishwashers, relying on the most typical malfunctions of these "home helpers". We hope this information will be useful for active users and beginners.

What breaks down most often?

It is clear that in any dishwasher anything can break, absolutely reliable equipment does not exist. However, any brand of dishwashing equipment has its own weaknesses, which result in the so-called typical problems, let's analyze them.

  1. The “disease” of Dishwasher Dishwashers are blockages. It would be more correct to say that this is a “disease” not of dishwashers, but of their owners, who neglect the basic rules of caring for their “home helper”.

It is recommended to clean the filters at least once every 3 months, preferably more often.

  1. Another weakness of Gorenje's cars is a thermistor, which burns from voltage surges and system failures. The heating element is slightly less likely to fail.
  2. Often triggered by a sensor that protects the machine from leaks. This sensor is located in the pan and can work, so to speak, idle, in the absence of leakage.
  3. The pump at Gorenje’s cars also raises complaints from some masters. 9% of all breakdowns are associated with a drain pump, a rather high percentage.

On the latest models of Gorenie dishwashers, there are problems with the firmware of the control module. Most often, the problem is solved by resetting the firmware, but sometimes it requires a complete replacement. Such work is performed exclusively by a good master. If you "get into" the firmware without experience and relevant knowledge, you can seriously screw up and unwind for expensive repairs.

Machine cleaning

Dishwasher trash filterCleaning the machine of dirt is the responsibility of the user. If he neglects this, it will end with a blockage that will stop the dishwasher. In the event that the machine slowly drains the water or does not drain it at all, then you need to urgently clean the trash filter. This filter is located at the bottom of the washing chamber. Rinse it thoroughly, but carefully using a dishwashing gel.

You also need to check the drain hose, there are also often accumulated blockages. You also need to inspect the siphon fitting. There, dirt accumulates in a dense lump, and over time, water stops passing through this lump. All this is cleared elementary. It is enough to disconnect the drain hose from the fitting and dig a hole with a screwdriver, removing dirt.

Another filter that must be checked regularly is the intake valve filter. You can get it by unscrewing the inlet hose of the dishwasher Gorenie. The filter is a small plastic mesh, which limescale deposits clog quite quickly. In the event that there is hard water in your water supply, the mesh should be checked at least 1 time in 3 months. After pulling out the mesh, carefully clean it and return it to its place.

Check the temperature sensor and the heater

If you find that the Gorenie dishwasher refuses to heat the water, it is most likely that the temperature sensor or the heater failed. Heating elements fail less often, but still sometimes they have to be changed. And to change the heating element of the Gorenie dishwasher, this is a whole story. The fact is that the Gorenie dishwasher heater is located in the bowels of the circulation unit. To get to it, you need to completely remove the pallet, disconnect the power wiring from the heater and pull the part out of the groove.

First you need to check the heater with a multimeter for leakage, and then measure the resistance. The resistance of the workpiece is approximately 30 ohms.

The heater may be serviceable, then you need to switch your attention to the thermal sensor. We measure its resistance, and if it turns out that the indicators tend to zero, you need to change the temperature sensor.

Leakage sensor triggered

The leak sensor works according to a very simple principle. Inside the case of the dishwasher in the pan is a sensor connected to the float. If water rushes into the pan, the float will instantly float, dragging along a strip that will close the contact. This contact will instantly send a signal to the control module, which will immediately block the water supply and stop the dishwasher.

To check this sensor, remove one of the side walls of the Gorenie machine body. Put your hand into the hole and feel if there is water in the pan. If there is a lot of water, you need to tilt the machine on its side and drain everything. Then see where the water is dripping from and try to determine the place of the leak. After replacing a leaky pipe or gasket, you can start the machine again.

Suppose there was no water in the pan. So the sensor just stuck. You need to move the float by moving it down. Then the contacts open and the machine starts to function as usual.

The pump does not pump water

When pumping waste water into the sewers, the pump of the dishwasher buzzes quite a lot. It’s impossible not to hear it, so if suddenly the buzz disappeared, and the dishwasher does not drain the water, then you need to check the pump. To remove and check the pump, you do not need to disassemble the entire dishwasher.

Dishwasher drain pump

  1. It is enough to remove the side wall of the Goryene dishwasher.
  2. Disconnect the pump from the circulation unit.
  3. Remove the wires from it.
  4. Check the drain pump with a multimeter.
  5. Replace if one is found to be defective.

In conclusion, we note that it is not so difficult to fix many of the problems with Gorenie’s dishwasher. You can get to the required parts almost immediately, but there are defects that should only be trusted by professionals, otherwise you can only aggravate the problem and make repairs much more expensive. Good luck
