Hansa dishwasher fault repair

Remon PMM HansaLike any technology, Hans dishwashers have their strengths and weaknesses. Dishwasher weaknesses usually result in breakdowns that have to be repaired. Repairing Hansa dishwashers is best done by a specialist, but you can also repair them yourself, depending on what kind of breakdown you encountered. Let's try to find out what breakdowns are considered typical for Hans dishwashers and how to fix them correctly.

What breaks most often?

The real “scourge” for Hans dishwashers are breakdowns associated with the intake and drainage of water. Perhaps we are talking about some design flaws in these dishwashers, but the craftsmen point out that they constantly have to change:

  • pumps;
  • filling valves;
  • electrician of these parts;
  • pipes

The process of filling and draining water is interconnected. If the dishwasher cannot drain water and displays a corresponding system error, this is not necessarily due to a pump failure. The technician must be well aware of the symptoms of certain breakdowns in order to accurately determine which part has failed. They advise listening carefully to how the dishwasher works, what sounds it makes before it gives an error and stops.

About half of the breakdowns can be detected by ear, and if this fails, you need to start scrupulously checking all suspicious details until a breakdown is detected.

In addition to the drain and fill system, heating elements in Hans dishwashers break. Here the situation is simpler, since if the heating element breaks down, the dishwasher either does not heat the water at all or overheats it greatly.So even the average person will say with 90% confidence that it is the heating element that has broken. The remaining parts of Hans' cars are stronger and break less often, so we won't talk about them; we already have something to discuss.

Drain system

Blockages in the drain system occur very often, so first of all you need to check whether a blockage has formed in the garbage filter, hose or pipes of the Hans dishwasher. What should be done?cleaning the garbage filter

  1. We free the washing chamber from the lower dish basket.
  2. We remove or move the lower sprinkler so that it does not interfere with removing the garbage filter.
  3. We take out the glass of the garbage filter, as well as the metal mesh that is located nearby.
  4. We wash the filter and mesh. You can clean them with a brush with coarse bristles. You can use a small amount of dishwashing detergent for cleaning.
  5. Before putting the filter back, check the niche into which it is inserted; perhaps there is dirt there too.

If the filter turns out to be clean, let's try to check the drain hose. To do this, you need to unscrew it from the siphon and inspect it. Next, you need to turn off the machine, pull it out of the niche and remove the left side wall. There are several screws around the perimeter, which we unscrew with a regular Phillips screwdriver. By removing the side wall, we gain access to the pump, pull out the pump and check it. First, we inspect the part visually; if dirt and physical damage cannot be detected, we check the pump with a multimeter. We replace the broken pump with a similar one.

The pump may be fine, then it makes sense to look at the internal pipes, perhaps one of them is clogged with dirt. The pipes connect the parts of the dishwasher and are attached to clamps.We unscrew the clamps and check the pipes, although blockages in them occur quite rarely.

Loading system

filling valveChecking the filling system can be done without disassembling the Hans dishwasher, which makes some people especially happy. The fact is that the filling valve of the machine is located on the edge, at the base of the filling hose, so you can get to it without penetrating into the body.

So, if water does not flow into the machine or it constantly drains itself, the problem is in the filling valve. Of course, provided that you have already checked that there is water in the water supply, the taps are not turned off, the hose is not pinched, and the filter mesh located at the base of the valve is not clogged with debris. Let's check the valve.

  1. Shut off the water supply to the dishwasher.
  2. There is a plastic housing at the base of the housing at the end of the inlet hose. This is the filling valve; you need to unscrew it.
  3. Carefully remove the part and test its contacts with a multimeter.
  4. We replace the faulty valve with a similar one.

A new filling valve is quite expensive, but the old one most often cannot be repaired. The video, which is located under the text of the article, offers an original solution.

A heating element

Heating element in the dishwasherHansa brand dishwashers have flow-through heating elements. They often break down, and it is not possible to repair such a very expensive part, you can only replace it. This is done quite simply. We must first remove the right side wall of the dishwasher, after which we will immediately have a view of the circulation block and two large pipes, between which this heating element is fixed.

It is necessary to remove these clamps, pull out the heating element, test it with a multimeter, and then act on the test results.If a part is faulty, we buy exactly the same one and replace it with the old one. If the heating element is working properly, it is possible that the water is not heating due to improper operation of the control module. Don’t forget to buy clamps along with the new heating element, since “original” clamps are disposable. After the replacement has been made, we put the side wall in place and check the operation of the dishwasher.

Repairing a Hansa brand dishwasher at home with your own hands is not easy, but nothing is impossible. All necessary parts can be accessed relatively easily, which means troubleshooting is greatly simplified. However, before you start fixing your “home assistant”, you need to study dishwasher diagramto know where each part is located and what it is responsible for. The rest will come in the process of gaining practical experience. Happy renovation!
