How to disassemble the pump of an LG washing machine?

SM LG pump disassemblyIf every second one can get a pump out of the washer, then disassembling the drain pump of the LG washing machine is somewhat more difficult. Of course, throwing out the problematic part and installing a new one in its place is easier, but replacement does not always come out cheaper than self-repair. For those who do not want to splurge, we suggest learning how to properly "dig" in the drain device.

"Rummage" in the drain pump

You can’t repair a pump without disassembling it. Only having penetrated under the housing, it is possible to check whether the impeller on the shaft is completely scrolled, and how well the clamps hold the part. Especially if the blades do not rotate in the absence of visible reasons for stopping (when there is no debris, dirt, hair, on the pump). Then the problem that prevents full drainage is hidden inside the device, and you need to find it. To "open" the pump from the LG washer, you must follow the following algorithm:

  • disconnect the part from the cochlea by removing the fixing bolts;
  • push the housing on the side of the drain valve, and then pull it towards you;
  • drain the liquid remaining in the pump;
  • Pry off the latch holders from both edges of the housing;
  • raise the pump from the coil.

Any repair of the pump requires thorough cleaning of the internal mechanism of the pump and the neighboring elements of the drainage system: snails, seats, nozzles, impellers.

Less commonly, there are “non-separable” types of pump, which, despite their name, are quite suitable for repair. It is only necessary to apply a special approach to the mechanism. So, proceed as follows:remove the pump and separate it from the cochlea

  • Wear protective gloves.
  • We disconnect the pump with the impeller, leaving the snail and coil in place.
  • Inspect the item.
  • We take a building hair dryer and turn on the mode with the lowest temperature heating.
  • We direct a hot stream of air to the "shank" - a long tip from the back of the case.
  • After 2-5 minutes, we pry the crosspiece with a screwdriver, reaching out. A magnet is also included in the “kit” with the crosspiece, because of which the mechanism becomes “inseparable”.

Once the cap is removed, the pump device is completely disassembled. It remains only to repair the part. To do this, we clean the removed and remaining parts from accumulated debris, remove the magnet from the shaft and lubricate with a special composition all the bearings (both removed and located at the bottom of the housing). After returning the pump to its original form. In order for the lid to fit snugly again, it is necessary to press it until a characteristic click is heard.

If after checking it turns out that the pump cannot be repaired, you will have to replace the defective part with a new analogue. We purchase the pump according to the serial number of the device or washing machine and install it in place of the old one. The connection process is identical to the dismantling technique, so it makes no sense to describe it in detail.

How to understand that the pump is broken?

It should be understood that disassembling the pump yourself is a risky undertaking. To protect yourself from unnecessary costs, you should first make sure that the problem is really in it. It is likely that completely different reasons led to the sudden stop of the LG cars. You can eliminate the error by sequentially checking all the "sore points" of the drainage system.

  1. We evaluate the noise of the machine. When the drain pump is defective, a strong hum comes from the machine, while the water does not drain and does not collect. The complete absence of any sounds should be alerted - normal moderate noise of average volume is normal. Testing your washing machine is easy: just start the fastest cycle and listen to the unit.

If there is a problem with the drain pump, then LG's self-diagnosis system will display an OE error code.

  1. Inspect the drain hose. Often, draining is difficult due to a clogged hose, when the waste water simply can not get out of the machine into the sewer. You can confirm the guess by probing the rubber along the entire length, but it is better to immediately disconnect the pipe and rinse it under the tap.be sure to clean the snail and the dust filter
  2. We clean the trash filter. At the first suspicion of problems with the drain, you must pay attention to the trash filter. It is located under the cover of the technical hatch in the lower right corner of the machine, representing a plastic nozzle-spiral. We turn the round lid half a turn, pull it towards ourselves and carefully clean out all the accumulated debris. As a rule, plastic always has hair, coins, pieces of dirt and even bones from a bra.
  3. Trying to spin the impeller. Do not rush to return the dust filter to its place. It is better to immediately check another problematic element of the drainage system - the impeller of the pump. This is a “wheel” with blades, which is located on the pump just opposite the hole for the “garbage bin”. Using a flashlight, we find the screw and try to check with our fingers whether it rotates freely. If its movement is difficult, then we clean the hair, threads, pile, wire and other foreign objects that impede rotation.

To monitor the troubleshooting process, it is recommended that you run a test wash after each step of the test. If the pump still does not work, you have to solve the problem with it. Turn off the washer, remove the pump from it and begin to disassemble it according to the instructions above.
