No water entering the dishwasher

water does not enter the dishwasherFew people are indifferent to a working dishwasher, because it frees us from unpleasant standing near the sink with a rag and detergent that irritates our hands. But everything changes when the car breaks down - the mood drops sharply. When the dishwasher does not pick up water, we understand that this is a breakdown, but what kind of breakdown? How to detect such a breakdown and how to fix it, preferably with your own hands? We will answer these and other questions as part of the article.

Breakdowns that provoked this problem

Why is the dishwasher not picking up water? To answer this question, you need to carefully inspect the car, systematically checking every possible problematic element. During the verification process, you will stumble upon a breakdown that will have to be fixed. So, what typical breakdowns lead to the dishwasher trying to pour water, but still there is no water.water tap

  1. Water does not flow due to clogged flow filter or filters.
  2. Water does not flow due to a broken filling valve.
  3. Water does not flow due to a broken door mechanism.
  4. The pressure switch broke, because of this, water does not fall into the bowels of the dishwasher.
  5. Water is not supplied due to the fact that the Aquastop system has worked.
  6. The control unit element is out of order.

Note! The above list of breakdowns is not exhaustive, but in about 96% of cases, with such symptoms, these malfunctions are found.

User errors cannot be discounted. Quite often, people call the master, complaining that the dishwasher does not pump water, and meanwhile, the reason for the lack of water supply is a shut-off tap, a kinked hose or a banal shutdown of the apartment’s water supply. It is clear that people are different, and situations are different, but we hope that you, our readers, are much more smart and will not do this and make experts laugh.

Clogged flow filter, Aquastop triggered

The first reason why there is no water in the dishwasher will be described by us, depending on the design of this dishwasher itself. We will express more clearly. The fact is that most modern Bosch dishwashers have an Aquastop leakage protection system and if the Aquastop inlet hose works, that is, a leak forms in it, the valve inside the hose will be reliably blocked and water will not get into the machine.

How to solve a similar problem is described in detail in our publication. Aquastop dishwasher hose - check and replace. But in short, in this situation, you just need to change the Aquastop hose. Such an element cannot be repaired or replaced.

With the new Aquastop hose, the valve capacity is perfect, which means that water will also get into the machine well until the protection works again, protecting your home from flooding. If your dishwasher does not have Aquastop protection and the inlet hose is completely dry and there are no signs of leaks, it means that the flow filter is probably clogged with water stone and dirt.

Important! Very often, after replacing the risers, rusty water starts to flow from the tap, interspersed with litter, such water clogs the filters very quickly, so try not to wash the dishes in the dishwasher.

flowing water filterWhen installing a dishwasher, an experienced craftsman usually puts an additional flow filter on the inlet hose so that there is an additional guarantee that no dirt will get into the machine with tap water. But in this case, you need to look at the filters and periodically clean them. If you do not do this, one day either the additional filter or the main one, which stands in front of the inlet valve in the dishwasher, will clog and the water will stop flowing into the machine. How to save the situation?

  • To start, we shut off the water.
  • Next, unscrew the hose with the filter.
  • We remove the filter and unwind it, then we clean the dirt, rinse with boiling water and screw it onto the hose.
  • We put everything in place and check how the dishwasher works.

If after that the dishwasher buzzes, trying to pump water, but still there is no water, you need to continue to search further. But all the same, do not forget to clean the filters, every 6 months you definitely need it, even if the water in the water supply is soft.

The filler valve has broken

The reasons why water cannot get into the dishwasher may be due to the operation of the filling valve. This valve is a rather sensitive element of the dishwasher and it can even damage the pressure drop. In particular, manufacturers of Bosch dishwashers in the instructions for their products indicate recommendations for installing a dishwasher if the pressure in the water supply is higher than 1 MPa. In addition to flow-through cleaning filters, they recommend installing pressure reducing valves.

If there is no pressure reducing valve, and the water pressure is significant, then the dishwasher’s own inlet valve will quickly break and either will not open at the right time, or vice versa, will remain in the open state, and water will constantly pour into the machine. In this case, it is almost impossible to repair the valve, because the mechanism breaks, you have to change it. If the valve simply clogged with dirt and does not open, then the problem is solved by ordinary mechanical cleaning.

The water level sensor is to blame

water level sensorThe Bosch dishwasher seems to be buzzing, and the lights are still on, but why isn’t the water still pouring? The culprit of this disgrace may be the pressure switch of the dishwasher. This device, also called a water level sensor, must accurately determine how much water is in the car at a given time. But the problem is that at one not very fine moment he may refuse to fulfill his function and then the following will happen:

  1. water will actually flow into the dishwasher, but the control module will not know about it;
  2. the machine will overflow and the pump will begin to pump out excess water in emergency mode;
  3. the control module, thinking that water does not enter the machine, generates a system error and stops the program.

Understanding what exactly happened with your dishwasher is easy. Listen to whether there is water in the dishwasher, whether the pump works by pumping water, and whether the water purses in the drain hose and pipe. If all this is the case, then the first version that will need to be checked is the failure of the pressure switch. About how to check and replace pressure switch, you can read in the corresponding article published on our website.

Control Module Issues

The reasons that water does not enter the dishwasher can be hidden in the electronics of the machine, and more precisely in its control module. Units can deal with this element and repair it. Not even all specialists undertake such repairs, but at least a look at this detail is necessary. The control module is one of the most important parts of a dishwasher, because it coordinates and gives commands to work or stop other parts and the entire dishwasher.

Important! It often happens that not the whole module fails, but some specific part. If you find and replace it, the board will work again, but it is rather difficult to do this.

To remove the control module, you need to disassemble the dishwasher door. It is not difficult:

  • open the car door wide open;
  • we hold it so that it does not start to close at a crucial moment;
  • now we unscrew the small screws that are on the ends and the back of the door;
  • disconnect the two parts of the door and inside we see the board on the mounts - this is the module.

Visually inspect the board, if there is no visible damage on it, then you should not climb further, call a specialist who will deal with the problem and possibly advise changing this part.

So, in most cases, if water does not come into the dishwasher for some reason, you can deal with the problem on your own, without involving a specialist. But in every tenth case of such a breakdown, the opinion of a qualified master will be required! Good luck

    Still need to figure it out!

    Good day. Built-in dishwasher BOSCH. The faucet indicator lights up and the water drain pump is constantly working (even when it is dry and there is no water). The filter is all washed. The nets at the entrance after the tap are cleaned. I did cut programs by clamping two buttons. Modes are selected but not started. And again the same indicator lights up. And the pump only turns on the machine, it immediately starts pumping, there’s nothing to drain. Help!

    Hello! The tap indicator flashes. We can’t find the reason, there are no leaks, the filters are clean, the car is only 4 months old. SOS!
