Which dishwasher is better - Bosch, Siemens, Electrolux?
Dishwashers of the Bosch, Siemens and Electrolux brands occupy 70% of the counter with the corresponding equipment in any Russian store selling similar products. These three brands occupy leading positions in the consumer popularity rating. Every second dishwasher purchased in our country, according to statistics, is either Bosch, Siemens, or Electrolux. However, a logical question arises, dishwashers, which brand is better, who is the leader in this three? Let's try to figure it out.
Dishwashers Bosch, Siemens, Electrolux: pros and cons of brands
It is undoubtedly very difficult to objectively compare the three leading dishwasher brands. A superficial analysis of the functionality and technical characteristics of the main models of these dishwashers turns out that Bosh, Siemens, and Electrolux have similar dishwashers in three price categories.
Of course, there is a difference, but at a superficial glance this difference is very insignificant. It turns out that all these manufacturers produce the same equipment? Let’s not rush to conclusions, because each dishwasher from the three brands has its own unique features that make up their advantages. Let's start with the generally recognized advantages of Bosch brand dishwashers.
- German reliability. This phrase is usually added by sellers when pronouncing the name of the Bosch brand, but not everything is so simple. If a Bosch dishwasher is assembled in Germany, or at least Poland, then there are no questions - the quality is excellent. But if it was assembled in China, then you can forget about German quality.
- Low price.Indeed, the pricing policy of the dishwasher manufacturer Bosch is very democratic. Although it is present in both the middle and high price categories, the main focus is now on budget models.
- Ergonomic design. The Bosch company produces dishwashers with both a universal appearance and a very original design. The Bosch dishwasher is able to fit equally well into both an originally designed kitchen and the most ordinary one.

There is no need to continue the long list of advantages of the Bosch dishwasher brand, because almost all of them belong to the Siemens and Electrolux brands. In the case of Electrolux, however, they say Swedish reliability. It turns out that when comparing brands of dishwashers, we “took a slippery slope.” Indeed, in general, in terms of the totality of advantages, these brands are approximately at the same level, and in order to determine the winner, you will have to scrupulously compare the characteristics of the leading models of dishwashers of these brands. Only in this case will it be possible to understand who at this moment managed to “outrun” the competitors, albeit temporarily.
By what parameters should we compare dishwasher models of these brands?
It is best to compare dishwashers based on the characteristics that are most important to the consumer. These characteristics include:
- capacity;
- water consumption;
- Energy consumption;
- noise;
- protection system;
- type of drying;
- number of programs and functions.
Dishwasher capacity is measured by the number of standard dishes included in the machine. In terms of this parameter, machines under the Electrolux brand win, since they have a load of 6 to 15 sets, while Bosch and Siemens have a maximum of only 14 standard sets of dishes. But it is worth noting that only in Bosch and Siemens dishwashers, compact models have a loading capacity of 6 and 8 sets, while compact Electrolux machines are designed for only 6 sets.
In terms of energy consumption, dishwashers of these brands are in the same category. Full-size models consume on average 0.8-1.05 kW/h, narrow models consume 0.7-0.83 kW/h, and compact models 0.6-0.7 kW/h. Water consumption in different types needs to be compared depending on the type of model, which is what we did, the result was presented in the form of a table.

According to the information collected, we can conclude that Electrolux has the most economical compact models. But full-size and narrow-flow waters are a little more economical from Bosch and Siemens.
One of the important characteristics is the noise level, all because many people turn on the dishwasher at night or during the day while small children are sleeping. The noise level for Bosch dishwashers varies from 54 to 41 dB, for Siemens from 52 to 41 dB, for Electrolux from 51 to 39 dB. In general, the indicators do not differ significantly from each other, so you need to compare specific models with each other. It is also difficult to choose the best brand based on the protection system. After all, all three representatives have dishwashers with both full and partial protection against leaks, as well as child protection.
In terms of drying type, dishwashers from Electrolux win, since among them there are machines with both natural drying (condensation) and turbo drying. Bosch and Siemens currently do not have models with turbo drying on sale.
And finally, the most interesting thing is the number of programs and various additional functions and options that make operating the dishwasher simple and the quality of washing high. In terms of the number of programs in general, all three representatives do not differ, on average there are 5-6 main modes, including quick wash, intensive and economical. However, Electrolux dishwashers have a BIO mode (use of bio-detergents) and an Eat-Load-Run mode (quick wash for 30 minutes).
A distinctive feature of Bosch and Siemens dishwashers is the presence of the following additional functions:
- HygienePlus – treatment of dishes with high temperature water and steam;
- IntensiveZone - washing heavily soiled dishes in the lower basket and lightly soiled dishes in the upper basket differs in the speed of water supply and its temperature;
- Shine & Dry – a special drying technology based on the use of the zeolite mineral;
- VarioSpeed Plus – speeds up washing by increasing energy consumption, saving time from 20 to 50%.
Undoubtedly, in terms of technology implementation, Bosch and Siemens are ahead of Electrolux. However, such technologies also affect the price of the dishwasher. As for the quality of washing, it is impossible to say which brand of machine washes better. Judging by consumer reviews, then there are both positive and negative reviews about all machines; among all representatives there are models that cope well with dirty dishes. To get more or less true results, you need to conduct research on specific models of dishwashers. The quality of washing will be influenced by many factors:
- washing program (duration, temperature);
- quality of detergent;
- sprinkler shape;
- degree of contamination of dishes;
- arrangement of dishes in containers.
No one will conduct such a test in a store when buying a car, so you will have to judge the quality of the wash only by the technical characteristics. And the better these characteristics, the greater the chance that the quality of the wash will be better.
Review of the leading dishwasher models of these brands
Now the time has come to finally decide on the leader of the trio Bosch, Siemens and Electrolux. Let's compare specific models of dishwashers of these brands in three price categories. For convenience, we present the information in table form.
First, we compared the most popular type of dishwashers - narrow built-in ones. In our opinion, places can be distributed as follows:
- 1st place – Siemens SR 64E This is a good budget dishwasher. A quick wash, an automatic program and a compartment for tablets - everything is provided in this dishwasher. At the end of the cycle, a beep will sound.
- 2nd place – Siemens SR 66T If it weren’t for the high price of this model, it would have received first place, but only second place. In addition to the above, this model has the functions intensiveZone, varioSpeed, and also has a built-in water purity sensor and a “beam on the floor”.
- 3rd place, in our opinion, could easily be shared by two models Bosch SPV58M50 and Electrolux ESL 9457 RO. But the Bosch dishwasher still wins, since it has complete protection against leaks, while Electrolux has only partial protection.
We also decided to compare full-size built-in dishwasher models from different price categories. This is what happened.
The leader among the selected representatives can be called the Siemens SN 66T095 dishwasher. It has an optimal price-technical characteristics ratio. In addition, this dishwasher, unlike its competitors, has a function for automatically detecting water hardness. What's attractive about this model is the camera's internal lighting.
Second place can be given to the Bosch SMV53N20 model, equipped with an adjustable basket for dishes, as well as the VarioSpeed function. Third place goes to another car from Bosch costing $380. It has everything you need, and the price for a German assembly is very good.
None of the Electrolux dishwashers made it into the top three for the reason that they do not have a reliable enough protection system and do not have a half load.
Thus, in all respects, German-made dishwashers are leaders. In terms of price, in some cases, Siemens models are cheaper than similar Bosch models, but if you have a limited budget, you can consider the option of a dishwasher from Electrolux, especially for compact dishwashers. In any case, it’s up to you to decide which dishwasher is better; the main thing to remember is that a brand is not always a guarantee of quality.
