How to connect a washing machine and dishwasher

The dishwasher and washing machine can be connected at the same time in one room, moreover, especially without redoing the communication. This is required in cases where it is not possible to place the washing machine in the bathroom, so it is transferred to the kitchen and placed next to the dishwasher. In this publication, we will talk about how such a connection is made and what features exist.

What do you need?

In order to simultaneously connect two devices so dependent on communications, it is necessary to prepare these communications. It would be very simple if separate tap-offs for plumbing and sewage had already been arranged in the kitchen specifically for the dishwasher and washing machine, but since they are not there, you will have to invent something.

First of all, we will collect the necessary materials that will help us “integrate” into existing communications. We list them:

• triple faucet made of bronze 3/4 section. Do not take a plastic tee, if there is no bronze, take a silumin. We will make a high-quality double tap of a water pipe from such a tap.
• Bronze gate valve with two exits (2 pcs.)
• FUMA.
• Siphon with two fittings for connecting two drain hoses.
• Adapters for drain hoses.
• Longer drain hoses or an additional set of hoses so that regular hoses can be lengthened.
• Flow filters with a 3/4 section.
• Voltage stabilizer rated for at least 3.5 kW.

The voltage stabilizer will help us avoid a radical alteration of electrical communications, at the same time it will become a good protection for expensive household appliances from failures in the electrical network.

We will also need tools, without them connecting a washing machine and dishwasher will not work, but their list will be much more modest. It will take literally only a small adjustable wrench, pliers, a building level, a screwdriver.

Preparing for the installation of two devices

Imagine this situation. A dishwasher is already installed in the kitchen, but there is a need to connect a washing machine at the same time. First you need to at least find a place for it, because a washing machine is far from a small household appliance.

In such a case, it’s difficult for us to suggest anything, after all, this is your kitchen. Perhaps, to install and connect the washing machine, some compromise will be required, for example, you will have to abandon some pieces of furniture or make a rearrangement. One way or another, try to put the washer and dishwasher closer to the sink, because it is under it that the connection to the water supply and sewage system will be located. You also need to strengthen and level the floor at the installation site of the washing machine, for this, use the building level.

Do not forget that there must be a gap of at least 1.5 cm between the washing machine and surrounding objects, as the machine vibrates violently and swings from side to side during the spin cycle.

You can install a washing machine and dishwasher to the right and left of the sink, in this case it will be much simpler to organize a drain from the water supply and sewage. You can put the dishwasher directly near the sink, and put the washing machine next to the dishwasher, leaving a gap of 1.5 cm between the walls of the appliances. There may be many options, but you still choose the one that is most acceptable in your case, so we won’t impose your opinion.

We connect to the water supply

There are two ways to organize a water outlet to simultaneously connect both a washing machine and a dishwasher. The first method involves connecting to the outlet of the cold water pipe to the sink, and the second to a special pipe outlet from the cold waterth. Both that and another way meets often therefore we will consider them in more detail.

If the repair in the kitchen was carried out for a long time, and no one expected that someday a washing or dishwasher would be installed in this room, then there are no free branches of water pipes. But it doesn’t matter. We will divert the pipe with cold water that goes to the sink. We perform the following manipulations.

1. A hose leaves the metal-plastic pipe with cold water, which in turn is connected to the mixer. We need, after closing the water, disconnect the hose from the pipe.
2. Between the hose and the pipe, we will put a bronze valve with four outlets through the adapter. Two outlets will go to connect the pipe and the hose going to the mixer, and two other outlets will be used to connect the washing machine and dishwasher to the water supply.
3. Next, we install two flow taps at two exits of the tap and insulate the connection well.

We install flowing taps in order to overlap the taps on the washing and dishwasher separately, but if necessary it will be possible to block the water in the washer and in the dishwasher at the same time.

4. We fasten the inlet hose of the washing machine to the thread of one flowing tap, and to the thread another dishwasher hose. Here is the tap of the water supply and organized.

The second option to connect to the water supply system is very similar to the first, only in this case we will use a tee tap. To the finished pipe outlet with cold water we fasten a tee tap through the adapter. Thus, we get instead of one tap - two. Next, just as fasten the taps on the taps and connect the inlet hoses of the washing machine and dishwasher.

Connection to the sewerage and power supply network

Now you need to solve the problem associated with connecting two household appliances to the sewer. Lengthen the drain hoses is not so bad. You can buy adapters, additional hoses of suitable section and the job is done, but how to connect these long hoses to the drain? Manufacturers of sanitary ware, in particular siphons for sinks, have long answered this question. Siphons with two branches for drain hoses, in other words siphons with two fittings, are on sale.

So, we just buy a new siphon with two sink outlets in the kitchen, install it instead of the old siphon and connect two drain hoses to it from the washing and dishwasher, respectively. The junction of the siphon and hoses must be secured with clamps.

Do not forget to comply with the requirements for the height of the drain hose connection so that there is no siphon effect and the water from the sewer does not go back to the washing and dishwasher.

It’s more difficult to organize the connection to the power supply, especially if the kitchen has only one suitable outlet with a moisture-proof housing, in which the wiring is designed for only one large consumer. Connecting two large consumers directly to such an outlet is dangerous, but you can go for the trick - connect through voltage regulator for a washing machine. We check the work

We connected both a washing machine and a dishwasher. Since the organization of the connection turned out to be more difficult than in a normal situation, everything needs to be carefully checked. We load the laundry into the washing machine (you can start it at idle in a special mode), put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and start these two devices at the same time. While washing and washing programs will be executed, our task is to carefully monitor communications. Particular attention to the joints of the taps with hoses.

If a leak is suddenly discovered, it is urgent to shut off the water and stop the operation of both devices, so as not to flood the entire floor in the kitchen and not flood the neighbors. Then you need to unwind the problematic connection, rewind it more carefully, and then twist again.
