How to connect a washing machine to the mixer

Connecting the washing machine to the faucet is required when a repair has already been made in the bathroom or in the kitchen, and the connection points to cold water for the equipment are not displayed.

There can be many reasons. For example, you planned to connect the washing machine somewhere else, but the plans went to dust, or you just forgot to withdraw the outlet for connecting the washer and hid the pipes under the tiles. Now it doesn’t matter, the main thing is that the connection option for the washing machine is left alone - the mixer, and you need to somehow implement it.

Pros and cons of such an accession

When there are no alternatives for connecting the washing machine to the water supply, there is little point in discussing how right or wrong this is - you still need to do it. Nevertheless, we will outline the advantages and disadvantages of this method of integration into plumbing communications for the purpose of connecting a washer, to give you a little extra food for thought. Perhaps you will come to the conclusion that it is better to remake the bathroom than to "fumble" something like that. Let's start with the cons.

1. The adapter and hose extending from the faucet will spoil the appearance of the bathroom. Even if you choose adapters prettier, it still does not look respectable at all.
   
2. If earlier your faucet was attached close to the wall and looked neat, now, thanks to the adapter, it protrudes strongly forward, which is also dangerous. Hook the mixer randomly, as it should, and the faucet can be pulled out with all the ensuing consequences.
3. If you have a faucet of the “soviet” type, that is, Russian or even Soviet-made, where the main fastening nuts are hung on eccentrics, and not on the mixer itself, then it will be difficult or even impossible to connect the washing machine in this way.
4. If the pipes under the mixer were initially bent out, then during normal installation of the mixer this curvature was compensated with the help of eccentrics, it will come out again when you install additional taps and extension adapters. As a result, the mixer on the faucet and extension cord will no longer stand upright and you will have to come up with something so that the curved connection does not let water through and holds the pressure.

The advantages of connecting the washing machine to the mixer can be considered its relative simplicity. There is no need to climb somewhere under the sink or bathtub, break tiles, “maim” pipes, the connection is quick, relatively simple and convenient. You also need to consider that in case of problems with the washing machine, you can very quickly shut off the water, since the main faucet will be located right next to the mixer.

In the same sense, it is easier to monitor the condition of the inlet hose of the washing machine, because it is always in sight. The slightest damage will certainly be noticed by you, at the moment when you go into the bathroom to wash your hands.

Accessories and tool

Before you start connecting the washer to the mixer, you need to stock up on basic components and the appropriate tool. There will be no problems with the tools, since they are almost not needed. In fact, you can do only with a screwdriver and adjustable wrench. No drills, grinders, hammers and pliers are needed here, the connection is quick, accurate and without noise. No supernatural components are also required, here is a list of what will need to be purchased.

• 3/4 tee crane with two main exits and one outlet to the inlet hose.
• 3/4 main extension cord corresponding to the length of the taken tee.

Currently, you can freely buy plumbing kits, which includes: the tee-tap itself, an extension cord to it and a set of silicone gaskets, just to connect the washer to the mixer.

When you buy a tee, make sure that it looks suitable for your mixer. You see, it makes no sense to buy a part with a gold coating and put it on a chrome plated mixer, assuming a sort of “color and aesthetic mottling”. The general logic, we hope, is clear, we will not go into details.

4. We remove the mixer to the side, and wrap the FUMKU at the joints.

5. We fasten the tee-tap so that the shut-off valve is located beautifully and conveniently, and we direct the outlet for the hose down.
6. We fasten the extension cord. When screwing on these elements, be careful not to overtighten so as not to damage the gaskets.
7. Now we carefully screw our faucet onto the tee tap and extension.
8. We connect the inlet hose of the washing machine to the tee.
9. We open the water, make sure that the joints are tight.
