Why the dishwasher is shocking

When a problem arises that the dishwasher is shocking, you should immediately start looking for the cause. It is best to call for this a good master who knows everything about the electrician. But while there is no master, you can read the article and find out the reasons for this situation.

The reasons

Why is the dishwasher beating an electric shock, yes because current leakage occurs on the machine body. All the reasons for this can be divided into two groups, the first group is associated with a malfunction of the machine itself and most often occurs after some time of using the equipment. The second group of reasons is associated with improper connection of the dishwasher, and more precisely with the electrical network. In this case, even a new machine can begin to "bite." We list all the possible reasons:

• broken insulation of the wiring inside the dishwasher;
• broken engine of the machine;
• heater breakdown;
• malfunctioning outlet;
• no ground.

If the outlet is grounded, but the machine is shocking, then check the outlet itself, contacts may become oxidized in it. It is enough to clean them, and the problem will be eliminated.

Checking the heater

Most often, the reason that the car is shocking lies in the punctured heater. To check it, you need to remove the heater, for this you need:

• disconnect the equipment from the network and water supply;
• pull out the basket for dishes, trash filter and sprinklers;
• if there is, unscrew the screws under the net (at the bottom of the tank);
• turn the dishwasher so as to provide access to its bottom;
  
• remove the bottom;
• we find the heater and disconnect it from the nozzle;
• disconnect from the heater all the chips with wires;
• we take out the heater and inspect it, already at this stage you can detect a breakdown;
• to verify the malfunction, you can lower the heater in the salt solution, and then measure the resistance between the heater and the solution. If the device shows resistance, then the heater is broken.
  

  Important! A saline test is not always helpful in identifying a problem.

• if there really is a breakdown of the part, replace the heater with a new one.

The second method of checking the heater is dry as follows:

• set the Ohm unit of measurement on the multimeter;
• apply the probe to the heater contacts;
  
• the serviceable part has a resistance in the range of 21-22 Ohm, the faulty one is infinite;
• after checking the heater, the part is checked for current leakage to the housing, switching the multimeter to MegaOms for this;
• we apply one probe of the device to the contact of the heater, and the second to its body. It can be applied not to the housing, but to the grounding contact. With a working heater, the device must have infinite resistance.

Important! During measurements, the pump and heater should be completely dry, otherwise an RCD will trip when the dishwasher is working, then the resistance will not be infinite.

How to check wiring and engine

Why the dishwasher is shocking you seems to be understandable, but what to do when it behaves like this? Quite often, a leak is caused by the wiring or the motor housing. In our practice, there have been cases when mice were started in the dishwasher, which, gnawing the wiring, created a similar problem.

If you suspect something like this, take a sniff at the dishwasher. The shelter of mice usually emits a specific unpleasant odor. If a smell is detected, open the machine.

Even if there are no mice in the machine, the mass wiring inside could be defective, with damaged insulation, or the insulation worn off from time to time. Visually inspect each wiring, especially pay attention to the bases of each wire in the places where they connect to the chips or terminals. If a damaged wire is found, replace it.

If you have the knack, you can use the multimeter.It also helps in finding a damaged wire, but no one canceled the visual inspection. If the wiring is OK, check the engine. If the winding gives a leak to the body, then the engine may well begin to shock. It is also checked elementary with a multimeter. A broken winding for further operation is not suitable, the engine will have to be replaced. You can, of course, try to give the item to rewind, but it will cost more.

So, you should not ignore a similar problem with the dishwasher. But how to fix it, make the decision yourself, call the wizard or look for and fix the problem yourself. Just remember, with electricity you need to be extremely careful!
