Spout for a washing machine - overview

nozzles of the washing machineIt is no secret to anyone that when caring for a washing machine, you should clean and check not only the drain, inlet hose and trash filter, but also the nozzles. The nozzles for the washing machines are located inside their housing and are hidden from the eyes of the user, therefore, very often they learn about problems with the nozzles when they start to flow. This cannot be allowed, therefore we decided to devote this article to the issues of repair and maintenance of various nozzles of washing machines, but first we’ll figure out which nozzles are installed in washing machines.

Location

In a modern automatic washing machine of a standard design, three types of nozzles are installed:

  • water inlet pipe;
  • dispenser nozzle;
  • drain pipe.

A water inlet pipe connects the inlet valve of the washing machine with a powder receiver or dispenser. The “trick” is that the water from the water supply system, passing through the inlet hose and the valve under pressure, necessarily enters the inlet pipe. Passing quickly through this short nozzle, water rushes into the dispenser, dissolving and taking away detergents with it.

Where does the mixture of powder and water go? And then soapy water leaves the powder receiver in the nozzle of the dispenser, which actually connects the detergent receiver to the tank. Thus, soapy water, in which things are washed, gets into the tank of the washing machine. What's next?

And then the washing machine erases the laundry, then completes the washing cycle and there is a need to remove dirty water from the tank in order to rinse things with clean water. The control module issues a command and the drain pump is turned on. Dirty water from the tank rushes through a special hole into the drain pipe, passes through it and the pump, and then is discharged into the drain hose, and from there into the sewer. That's all.

It turns out tap water along the entire route through the bowels of the washing machine, three pipes have passed. Any of these pipes is “at risk” and may fail at any time. In particular, a layer of limescale accumulates inside the water inlet, which over time can clog the pipe and the water pressure will simply break the soft rubber.

Note! The nozzles of the washing machine are mobile and durable, but over time they tan, crack and, as a result, begin to leak.

In addition to limescale deposits in the nozzle of the dispenser may form a stone coating from detergents. Well, and worst of all, the situation is with the drain pipe. The drain pipe fails more often than others, because dirty water and dangerous contents of the tank pass through it:

  • pins
  • bra bones;
  • buttons
  • coins;
  • toothpicks and stuff.

So if a washing machine repairman suspects that one of the pipes is out of order and leaks, the drain pipe is the first to be suspected. Calling the master at home, as well as servicing the nozzles of the washing machine, is now quite expensive. It is better to do all the work yourself, and we, in turn, will talk about how to clean and repair the nozzles of the washing machine.

We prepare the washing machine for repair

Cleaning and repair of the nozzle of the washing machine will not do without disassembling it, since all the nozzles are inside the housing. In order to disassemble and not damage the “vital” parts of the machine, it is necessary to carefully prepare it for repair. What are we doing?

  1. We block the flow of water into the washer.
  2. We disconnect the washing machine from electricity, plumbing and sewage, disconnect the hoses.
  3. On a free area of the floor we spread a large rag.
  4. We take out the powder receiver.
  5. We unscrew the waste filter and drain the remaining water from the tank through the emergency drain hose, which is located next to the waste filter.

Note! Since you still unscrew the dust filter, clean it from dirt.

  1. Carefully move the washing machine to a free area of the floor directly on a rag.
  2. Gently tilt and put the washing machine on the side wall.

At this, the preparation of the washing machine for repair can be considered complete. We did all these manipulations so that, firstly, it was convenient to work with the washing machine, and secondly, in order to remove residual water from the cuvette and tank, since there is a danger that water will flood the control module and the washing machine will fail. That's all. Now we just have to prepare a flat and Phillips screwdriver, pliers and we can repair the drain, filler and dispenser pipe.

We repair a branch pipe of a gulf of water

To understand whether the filler pipe is functioning or not, you need to get to it. The easiest way to do this is through the top cover of the washing machine. First, unscrew the two screws that hold the top cover, and then with our own hands with some effort we move the cover towards the back of the washing machine. Next, lift and remove the lid.

filler pipe

Before our eyes, in the upper left corner, we see a rubber pipe running from the filler valve to the powder receptacle housing. We need him. The ends of the pipe are clamped on both sides by metal clamps. Remove the pipe to carefully check it.

  • With pliers, unclip the clamps and shift them to the middle of the nozzle. We will reuse the clamps, so try not to break them.
  • Very carefully, but with effort, we pull off the filler pipe on one side of the valve and on the other from the outlet of the powder receiver.
  • Inspect the filler pipe for blockages and damage. If there is blockage, they will be cleaned with a plastic brush, if there are none, we rinse it and put it in place.
  • If there are damages, we buy the original filler pipe that is suitable specifically for your model of the washing machine, we put clamps on it and install it in place.

Important! If the pipe does not have visible damage, but at the same time it is very saggy and stops bending, it should be replaced with a new one.

Dispenser nozzle repair

Thorough cleaning and repairs may require a dispenser nozzle. Who will clean this pipe no matter how you are, especially when you consider that you refused the services of a master a priori. We will figure out where to find the dispenser pipe.

dispenser nozzle

In a number of washing machine models (for example, in LG washers), the dispenser nozzle can be removed as well as the water inlet nozzle through the top cover. But in some cases, it can be reached only by disassembling and removing the front wall of the washing machine. You can read about how to do this in the article. Dismantling the washing machine, we will not dwell on this moment separately. So what do you need to remove the dispenser pipe?

  1. We unscrew the screw clamps holding the pipe on both sides.
  2. Carefully disconnect the pipe on one side of the dispenser and on the other side of the tank.
  3. We inspect the pipe for blockages and damage and, if necessary, replace it with a similar one.

Theoretically, everything looks simple. But in practice, crawling up to the screws holding the clamps may not be so simple. Also, do not forget that many cars have a mesh filter installed on the neck of the tank. Often when removing the pipe, the mesh falls out, and when installing a new pipe, they simply forget to put it back - be careful. This mesh is needed and it is better to put it in place after cleaning is done.

We fix the drain

According to statistics, the drain pipe has to be cleaned and checked most often. You can get to it through the bottom of the washing machine. For models with an open bottom washing machine, the drain pipe sticks out, it is worth lowering the machine on its side and the pipe will be at your fingertips.If the washer has a tray or bottom cover, then you must first remove it, and then you will also get access to the nozzle.

drain pipe

The drain pipe has three connection points: pump, tank and pressure hose. Our task is to loosen or squeeze the clamps holding the pipe at all points of connection, and then simply pull it to the side. If the pipe is in satisfactory condition, use a special brush to clean it. The brush will clean it as it should, then it remains only to put the element in place. If the pipe is worn or damaged, then it is necessary to change it to a similar one, installing it on old clamps.

Note! Well clean the pipe solution of citric acid. It is necessary to soak 100 g of lemons in 2 liters of water, and then put a pipe in this solution for 2 hours. Then pull out the pipe and rinse it under a stream of cold water.

In conclusion, we note who will clean your washing machine better than yourself. The answer is obvious - an experienced master. But his services are quite expensive, and you need to clean it regularly, including cleaning the pipes. We told how to install, disassemble and clean the main nozzles of the washing machine, we hope this information will be useful to you. Good luck
