How to disable the timer on the washing machine?

Modern washing machines allow housewives to monitor the washing time, displaying the remaining minutes of the cycle. As a rule, from the moment the washing machine starts, it counts seconds ago, and stops only when “00:00” is displayed. But often the time is lost or not displayed, and with it the machine itself stops working properly. To fix the problem and continue washing, you will have to turn off the timer, repair it or replace it with a new one. How to do it and when - we will describe in detail below.

How does the timer work?

The principle of operation of the timer and its device does not depend on the type of download and brand. And expensive washing machines from LG Samsung and more budget Indesit and Candy, and frontal machines, and vertical semiautomatic devices are equipped with an identical time indicator. The standard counter consists of:

• synchro motor;
• gearbox;
• Contacts
• gears.

No less important is the plastic shell, in which special grooves are provided, due to which the motor functions, and with them the rest of the timer elements.

The principle of their operation is similar to the clockwork, only connected through contacts to the control system of the machine.

It is just from the wiring that the installed indicator depends on. He might be:

• Hybrid. It is an improved mechanical version, therefore more reliable and durable.
• Electronic. It is distinguished by multifunctionality, as it allows you to simultaneously include several programs, adjust the delay of start, pre-wash or additional rinse. But it is very vulnerable and can break due to power surges or systemic failures of the washing machine.

What kind of timer is installed on the machine can be found in the user manual. But most often there is no need to climb into the instructions - almost all modern models are equipped with electronic indicators. So if there is a starting delay on the washing machine or the year the unit was manufactured no earlier than 2014, then you will have to deal with a multifunctional device.

Disabling a healthy item

First of all, the timer must be turned off, and the circuit for turning it off is the same for most washers. You don’t have to disassemble the case: just hold the “Start / Cancel” button until all the lights on the dashboard blink. Then the machine will reset the settings, including the washing time.

Automatons equipped with a delayed start function, a single "reboot" will not help. The system will save the data and after starting it will display the previous minutes again. Repeatedly holding the Start / Cancel key will help get rid of the set timer.

There is one exception - Hotpoint-Ariston brand washing machines. For these units, a special button is provided on the dashboard, indicated by a schematic representation of the dial. If you click on it from one to four times, you can set the desired time delay to start the cycle, and the fifth press deactivates the timer.

Here, to turn off the clock, just press the "hour" key 5 times.

If the item is out of order?

The need to remove the time from the display occurs when the machine suddenly stops. A faulty timer immediately leads to a forced cessation of washing, because without a countdown the system will not be able to control the cycle and perform the corresponding tasks. Just because the indicator does not fail, there are serious reasons.

1. Power surges. Abrupt changes are fraught with damage to the washing machine software, which in turn starts to “fail”. The problem is solved only by reinstalling the software.
2. Mechanical damage. Inaccurate operation, blows to the body - all this can affect the functioning of the timer.
3. Moisture Metal gears, getting wet, rust and stop.They will have to be replaced or cleaned.
4. Excessive heating of the heater. A defective heating element can “accelerate” to too high temperatures, which will lead to overheating of the control module, short circuit, fire or melting of the plastic timer elements.

Before you understand the reasons, you should timely fix the malfunction of the timer. It will not work to skip the strip - any machine, whether it is LG, Kandy or Samsung, will automatically stop working. But you can diagnose a failure of the clockwork by the following signs:

• the washing machine does not start, although there is no malfunction in the electrical network;
• a running cycle stops and is not activated when you select any of the available modes;
• the display shows an absolutely incorrect time (for example, "99:99");
• all dashboard lights are on or flashing.

Trying to reboot to restore the machine is useless - you need to find out the cause of the stop and fix the malfunction. If the problem is in the timer, you will have to repair it or change it to a new one. You can do this yourself or using the wizard.

How to fix a breakdown?

Self-repair is possible, although it will cause many difficulties. First you need to turn off the timer, dismantle and buy a similar part. It is better to choose a branded spare part so as not to be mistaken with the size and quality. Then we act like this:

• download software suitable for the timer;
• install the program on the computer and check;
• mount the indicator in the machine;
• connect the washer to the PC;
• flashing the system.

The timer is not an additional function, but the main option on which all the functioning of the machine is based. If it fails, the machine will not start, so there is no point in delaying the repair.
