Does the detergent remain on the dishes after the dishwasher

dishwashing detergentIn a number of Western countries, a group of opponents of dishwashers has appeared. Their main argument boils down to the fact that dishes washed in a dishwasher contain leftover detergents, which subsequently enter the human body with food, slowly poisoning it. Thus, the harm from dishwashers, in their opinion, completely eliminates the comfort created by the dishwasher. We decided to check whether the dishwasher really leaves a certain amount of detergent on the dishes or are these just rumors.

Why can powder remain on the plates?

After a series of simple tests, we were convinced that in most cases, with a conventional dishwasher, particles of detergent remain on the dishes. In some cases there are more, in some fewer, but they are still present. Why it happens?

  1. A low-quality detergent is used that does not dissolve well in water.
  2. Washing dishes is carried out at low water temperatures and because of this, the product does not completely dissolve.
  3. Wrong dishwasher program selected or too much detergent added.
  4. The dishes in the baskets are not correctly placed, because of which soapy water with the rest of the product is retained in the cavities and is not washed out when rinsing.
  5. Dishes consisting of hard-to-rinse porous materials were sent to the sink. With such dishes, not only dirt is washed off with difficulty, but also a detergent.
  6. The dishwasher is defective.

Quite often, users of dishwashers themselves noticed white marks from detergent on newly washed dishes. Most often, this phenomenon occurs if users buy a cheap low-quality dishwashing detergent, it does not matter powder or tablets. This is the most dangerous option, because in a cheap tool there may be poisonous components, and the amount of particles remaining on the dishes may well cause serious poisoning.

Even very good tablets or powder may not dissolve satisfactorily due to low temperature washing. Usually fast modes suggest heating the water no higher than 40 degrees, and users just really “respect” these modes, and then eat the rest of the detergent with food.

The optimum water temperature at which detergents dissolve in the dishwasher is well - 600WITH.

dishes after PMMThe choice of a washing program also needs to be monitored. It is not for nothing that dishwasher manufacturers came up with double rinse modes, if on your machine there are similar modes, they must be used. Detergent also needs to be laid at the norm, and preferably slightly less than the norm. From the fact that you put more powder, you will not improve the quality of the sink, rather the opposite.

Watch how you arrange dishes in baskets. The powder can also be poorly washed off due to the fact that one or another type of dishes is located incorrectly. Particles of powder will be collected in the cavities, and then you will be forced to wash the dishes and kitchenware with your hands. If you do not know how to place dishes in baskets correctly, read the article How to use a dishwasher. It explains everything in quite some detail.

If you wash plastic dishes or dishes made of porous clay, be aware that it will not be washed well. Not only food debris, but also detergent components are poorly washed off such materials. Perhaps you should wash such dishes by hand or completely get rid of it.

What else depends on whether the dishwasher washes off the product completely? Of course, from the serviceability of the dishwasher itself. If, for example, one of the sprinklers fails at the machine, the quality of washing dishes and the quality of washing off the powder will deteriorate significantly. In this case, a qualified master will help you, who will figure out what's what.

What harm is it from this?

We figured out whether the detergent remains on the dishes after washing. It turned out that it still remains. We also found out the reasons why this happens. Suppose we come to terms with the fact that during lunch we have to eat a little more dishwashing liquid besides ordinary food. How does this threaten us? Is it really so harmful as they say?

In fact, a detergent may contain a large amount of substances that are extremely harmful to the body, such as chlorine. We already consume quite a lot of chloride compounds with tap water, and if you start eating “bleach” directly from plates, then in a very short time you can get:

  • inflammation of the mucous membranes of the oral cavity and esophagus;
  • chronic cough and lacrimation;
  • bronchitis and pneumonia;
  • weakening of immunity.

product on dishes after washing in PMMEating particles of detergent, a person also receives a “wild” dose of phosphates, which accumulate in the body, leading to the destruction of bones and teeth. Of course, in a couple of weeks, phosphates in the body will not accumulate to a critical level, but we also expect to wash the dishes in a dishwasher not a single day.

In addition to chlorine and phosphate, a powerful allergen can also enter the body, as manufacturers impregnate their tablets and powders with powerful flavors. Very unlucky if you are allergic and react precisely to these components.

Choose pills or powder

How to get out of this situation. It is clear that not a single dishwasher is able to wash off the detergent without residue, so you need to choose the most harmless detergent that would not harm it if it gets into the body. You can, of course, refuse a machine wash, but where is the guarantee that with a dishwashing gel by hand you will get less chemistry.

It is very difficult to get such guarantees from anyone, which means we will take care of ourselves. We suggest choosing the safest tool so that it does not have components that can cause significant harm to the body. How to do it? Need to come to the economic department and carefully read the detergent compositions. Harmless powders and tablets do not contain:

  • chlorine;
  • phosphates and phosphonates;
  • flavoring;
  • nonionic surfactants in an amount of more than 5%.

Of course, this does not make such powders and tablets edible, but it can be expected that their forced partial absorption will not cause health problems.

So, you can wash the dishes in the dishwasher without fear of poisoning if you choose a high-quality detergent and adhere to the simple operating rules that are prescribed in the instructions. Be prudent and everything will be fine. Good luck
