DTC LE and 1E on the LG washing machine

Le error in LG carIf your LG washing machine first periodically and then often freezes and issues an LE error, this means that you need to immediately stop using it and start looking for the cause of the error. You should act methodically and, first of all, look at the instructions that went to the washing machine, and only then take some actions. What does the DTC LE mean and how to get rid of it by eliminating the cause of the breakdown?

Why confuse errors 1E and LE?

Paradoxically, quite a few users, even having instructions on hand, confuse errors 1E and LE, which as a result leads to erroneous conclusions and the inability to find the true cause of the problem. It's all about the features of the code display on the display of the LG washing machine. Code 1E is displayed as a vertical stick and the letter "E", people take this vertical stick for a lowercase (small) English letter "L ". As a result, instead of code 1E people read lE.

Note! On LG state-of-the-art washing machines, the error code is displayed more correctly, but there may still be a little confusion.

If the LE code is displayed on the LG washing machine, you will not confuse it with anything, since the letters “L” “E” are displayed clearly, without double interpretation, as it is shown in the figure below.

The shortened decoding of the LE error code sounds like “motor overload”. In fact, this decryption cannot be considered complete, since there can be quite a lot of reasons for the occurrence of overload, and the point here may not be at all in the engine. Let's talk about these reasons in more detail.

Probable Causes of LE Error

Le error in LG car

As already noted above, there are quite a few reasons for the occurrence of a LE error. These reasons, one way or another, are associated with the electrics of the LG washing machine. Before looking for the reason for which this error occurs, look at what moment, this same error occurs - when the machine is started, during operation at maximum load on the electric motor, or at any of the indicated points. All this is very important. So, what are the reasons why the LE error appears?

  • Problems with the sensor or motor winding. If the motor sensor does not contact well or breaks its winding due to overload, a CE or LE error may appear on the display.
  • The wiring through which power is supplied to the engine has broken or is not contacted.
  • There is a problem with the surge protector of the LG washing machine.
  • Power overvoltage. If differences occur frequently, then the LE error will pop up often, perhaps it will alternate with the PF error.

Important! A special PF error on LG washing machines is not uncommon and means “Failure in the power supply in the network”, this error is eliminated by rebooting the machine, but if it occurs often, you should consider buying a stabilizer.

The procedure for checking the motor and wiring

Immediately to guess about the nature of the LE error, only a real master can. For this, we will need to get to the engine of the LG washing machine, test it for malfunctions, test the wiring, and only then draw conclusions. First we need to get to the engine of the washing machine.

LG washing machine motor

  1. We disconnect the washing machine from communications and deploy it with the back wall to ourselves.
  2. We unscrew the fasteners holding the back wall and remove it.
  3. Washing machine engine The direct drive LG looks different and is located right in the center of the drum. We find the engine - this is a large round metal disk located in the center and proceed to check it.

Repair and inspection of the washing machine motor described in detail in the article of the same name, which you can find on our website. We will not describe the process again. We’ll better talk about how to check the wiring through which the power to the engine passes, because direct-drive motors are very reliable and the likelihood that they have a lesser problem.

  • We find two bundles of wires going to the engine, and disconnect them.
  • We take a device called a "multimeter" and check the resistance of each core.
  • If you find a broken wire, consider that the problem was in it, if the wires are intact, you need to look further.

Important! If the wire is intact, then zero should be displayed on the multimeter display, if it is broken, then 1.

Check the line filter, deal with the electrical network

washing machine surge protectorA LE error can be caused by malfunctions in the line filter of the washing machine. What to do in this case? How to check the surge protector for short circuits. First, you need to get to it.

  1. Remove the top cover of the LG washing machine.
  2. The line filter is located on top, just in the place where the line wire is fed.
  3. We check the contacts of the filter and wires for breakdown with a multimeter. If the surge protector is working, you need to look further.

Mistake LE can also generate unstable power. Our Russian electric networks are simply created in order to disable electrical appliances. Constant failures, power surges break equipment not only in individual houses or apartments, but also in entire microdistricts. How to protect your "home assistant" and other equipment from similar risks? It is necessary to put a difavtomat and stabilizer for washing machine.

difavtomat

In general, it is better to invite a professional electrician to check the wiring in the house and install the necessary protective equipment. It is better, of course, to do this before buying a washing machine, so that later its connection is as safe as possible. Serviceable and suitable wiring and means of protecting electrical networks - this is the key to the smooth operation of the washing machine.

To summarize, we note that the LE code, which suddenly appeared on the display of the LG washing machine, can be caused by various malfunctions, but they are all connected to the electrician, and not to the water supply, as the 1E code tells us. Be careful and correctly decode error codes.
