SE error on LG washing machine

What to do if only yesterday a properly functioning washer today does not want to work and gives an incomprehensible error? It is important to focus on the symptoms of a malfunction. The SE error on the LG washing machine is displayed on the screen when the equipment normally draws water, but when it goes directly to the execution of a given program, it stops functioning. The breakdown is typical for ElDji's DirectDrive series washers, both for direct-drive cars and for belt drives and a three-phase quiet electric motor.

What if the automatic washing machine displays a code? Mistake SE indicates a malfunction in the motor. The drum cannot spin the laundry, as the engine shaft does not rotate. If the ElGi washer issues an SE code, there can be many reasons for this “behavior” of technology.

1. Failure of the tachogenerator.
2. Disconnection of contacts or poor connection. In this case, the user will have to inspect each connector connected to the electric motor. Sometimes they depart a little, as a result of which a signal interruption occurs. It will also be useful to examine the plume of wires leading from the engine to the main control unit. If a wiring defect is found, replace the damaged areas of the wires.
3. System failure. In this situation, the solution to the problem will be quite simple. It is necessary to disconnect the washing equipment for 10-20 minutes. When reconnecting the machine to the mains, the SE fault must be reset. If rebooting the machine did not help, you must urgently take on the repair of the "home assistant".

Most often, the tachogenerator is not repairable, but simply changes to a new one. In some cases, it’s not the sensor that “burns out”, but the resistor located with it in the same electrical circuit. Replacing a faulty resistor can completely solve the problem of a non-spinning drum.

In cases where the code is displayed on the screen quite often, probably, the electric motor of the washing machine does not fully function. It is necessary to diagnose the motor and, if necessary, replace it with a working one.

If the EJ washing machine does not start the rotation of the drum and displays the SE error on the display, it is also possible that the control module has stopped working. In simple words, the microcircuit controlling the entire washer was damaged. It is better to entrust the repair of the electronic unit to the master, you will have to solder some tracks on the board, replace the burnt parts responsible for the operation of the engine.

The likely reason for the appearance of the SE trouble code on the scoreboard is a damaged wiring in the path of connecting the control module and the electric motor. We fix the problem

According to statistics, in 90% of cases, the display of the SE fault code on the screen indicates damage to the Hall sensor. The device in the washer is needed to control the speed of the drum. When the tachogenerator is broken, the drum "does not understand" at what speed to rotate, so the intellect makes an error SE. It is also possible that the reason is not in the tachometer, but in the failure of the resistor, you can correct the situation by replacing it.

When diagnosing an SE error, be sure to check whether the tachogenerator is working (the part is located on the motor shaft).

The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

• remove the back wall of the washing machine;
• gently pull the belt off the motor shaft;
• unscrew the bolts securing the electric motor;
• remove the motor from the housing;
• release the contacts of the Hall sensor, use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the part (the optimal value is 60 Ohms);
• put the tester into voltage measurement mode, check the sensor while scrolling the electric motor (normally the detected value will be 0.2 V).

If a tachogenerator malfunction is detected, the washing machine can be repaired only by replacing it. To do this, disconnect the wiring from the sensor, unfasten the cover. Remove the appliance from the motor and install a new one in the reverse order.

If your washing machine is equipped with direct drive, then the tachogenerator will be checked in a different way. What to do in this case? Unfasten the back panel of the machine, then carefully remove the motor cover inverter type. Find the Hall sensor, and use a multimeter to calculate the resistance values ​​between the contacts of the part. The outputs of the tachogenerator have the following designations: VCC, GND, N.C., Sa, Sb.

If the tachometer is fully operational, the resistance between its contacts 1 and 4, 1 and 5 will be 10 kOhm. If the value on the tester is normal, check the resistors. If a malfunction is identified, the solution will be to replace the Hall sensor or separately the resistors of the electrical circuit.
