Error F5 in the Atlant washing machine

F5 error on SM AtlantWhy does the Atlant brand washing machine give an error code F5 and stop washing things? With these and similar questions, people increasingly began to turn to masters directly and indirectly in various forums on the Internet. What is the reason, why such attention to this malfunction? Let's deal with it in detail on the pages of our publication.

This code on machines without a display

Before you start decrypting F5 code, you need to determine exactly what you are dealing with. If you have an Atlant machine with a display, then there’s nothing to think about, because the “home assistant” herself displays this error on the screen. Well, if you have a control panel with many lights, but there is no display, how will you recognize this or that error?

Earlier, and at present, quite a large number of washing machines of various brands without a display have been and are being produced, and they all have a similar methodology for interacting with the user.

In fact, everything is not so complicated. We look at the control panel of the Atlant brand washing machine without a display and find the lowest row of bulbs on it, there are only 4. There, the machine communicates with the user through these bulbs. In our case, if the second and fourth light is on, if you count from left to right, then this is an error F5. In addition to this code, errors can occur on the control panels of the Atlant washing machines:

  • F2 - only the fourth lamp will light;
  • F3 - the third and fourth LEDs light up;
  • F4 - only the second LED lights up;
  • F6 - the second and third lamp will light;
  • F7 - this error is manifested by the glow of the second, third and fourth LEDs;
  • F8 - the entire row is on (four bulbs);
  • F9 - the first and last light is on;
  • F10 - the sign gives the first and third LED;
  • F12, F14 - errors are similar, therefore they are indicated in all cases by the first two bulbs;
  • F13 - light bulbs with numbers one, two and four are on;
  • DOOR - code “door” refers to LEDs one, three, four;
  • SEL - all lights will blink and go out.

The meaning and causes of occurrence

Well, we hope that now there will be no problems with the recognition of codes on Atlant washing machines without a display. And we are smoothly moving on to deciphering the error with code F5, for the sake of which, in fact, this article was being prepared.

So, the F5 code can be briefly decoded as problems with the intake valve. But it should be noted that a similar error also appears in the cases of the so-called self-draining, when water is poured into the machine, but is immediately drained for some reason. Some masters do not know such a feature and begin to intensively test the inlet valve, or even the control module, although the malfunction may lie in a completely different place. If the washing machine generates an error with code F5, the following breakdowns (except for the lack of water in the water supply) can be the reason for this:

  1. pinched inlet hose;
  2. clogged or defective intake valve;
  3. electrical circuits between the control module and the intake valve are cut off;
  4. the pressure switch and / or its electrical circuit is out of order;
  5. the control module has broken.

About troubleshooting

What to do to get rid of the F5 error? First of all, it is necessary to find the fault that caused it, but as we established in the previous paragraph, there can be quite a few such faults. Therefore, we have no choice but to start checking all the possible options, and we will begin, according to tradition, with a simple one.

We check whether there is sufficient pressure in the water supply system, whether the taps are open, not only on the riser pipes, but also on the tee tap, which is installed at the entrance to the Atlant washing machine, in front of the inlet hose.After making sure that everything is normal with the water supply, carefully inspect the inlet hose from the outside, maybe it just twisted or it was pinched by the Atlant washing machine body.

It may seem to some that we are writing elementary things, but as practice shows, in about a third of the cases, the reason for the F5 error on Atlant washing machines is such elementaryism.

Now we need to turn off the water supply to the "home assistant" and unscrew the inlet hose. At this stage, our task is to make sure that the hose inside is completely clean, at the same time it is necessary to check the filter mesh, which is on the inlet valve. It is very simple to find this mesh; it is located at the connection point of the inlet hose to the washing machine.

If the Atlant washing machine, after cleaning the hose and filter, continues to issue the F5 code, we will climb inside its housing. Unscrew and remove the top cover of the washer. In the upper left corner at the back wall we find the inlet valve. First, we check it and the pipes for clogging, then with the help of a multimeter we check the valve itself and its electrical circuit for operability. It is very possible that the valve itself is working, but the wiring is frayed somewhere, or the contact is oxidized.

It would be nice to carefully inspect the wiring visually, since traces of soot and oxide are often visible, so to speak, with the naked eye. If the circuit between the inlet valve and the control module is intact, and you are sure that the valve itself is in order, you should pay attention to such a detail as a water level sensor or pressure switch.

Let us make a small remark. If the Atlant washing machine does not pick up water at all, then there is no point in checking the pressure switch, but if the water is being poured, but is drained immediately without stopping in the tank, and everything ends with the F5 code, we check the level sensor first.

The pressure switch is located at the back of the washer, not far from the inlet valve, immediately under the top cover. First we blow and rinse the tubes of the pressure switch, then we check with a multimeter its electrician and the circuit connecting the water level sensor to the control module. If everything is in order, then everything indicates a problem with the control module.

At this point, you may have a question: Is it worth it to repair electronic modules with your own hands? In our opinion, the answer is obvious - not worth it! An exception can be made only for a person who is familiar with electronics firsthand and is able to understand the features of its device, reads circuits easily. We will give everyone else free, but in fact such useful advice - contact an experienced master!

To summarize, we note that a washing machine of the well-known Atlant brand gives an F5 code if for some reason it is not able to pump water into the washing tank. We figured out why this is happening and what needs to be done so that the error disappears. We hope you find this information useful. Good luck
