Error F07 on Ariston washing machine

Modern household appliances allow modern housewives not to actively participate in the washing process, but only load the laundry into the drum, select the desired mode and press the start button. The Hotpoint Ariston machine will do the rest. But it happens that during the washing process a certain malfunction occurs and after a while, instead of clean things, you see an unfinished program and the displayed error code F07 or F7. What does this designation mean and how serious is this breakdown? What to do in this case?

How does the code appear and what does it mean?

Such an error can make itself felt in different ways. Immediately after starting the necessary washing mode, the machine will not draw water into the tank, but will immediately display a code on the electronic display. After 2-5 minutes - in this case, the machine will begin to collect water, but will merge it immediately. After 10-30 minutes from the start of work - the machine in the normal mode can perform the programmed actions, but never start rinsing the laundry.

Very rarely, this malfunction can be displayed on the Ariston washing machine after the “home assistant” was collecting and letting water out for a long time at the beginning of the process. It happens that programs where washing occurs in cold water work fine, and an error appears only if it is necessary to heat the water to a certain temperature. If your typewriter does not have an electronic display, then the washer will also inform you of a F07 / F7 failure.

1. On too “age” machines equipped with power and hatch lock indicators, a series of blinks will be observed, consisting of 7 frequent blinks of the power lamp, a break between series will be from 5 to 10 seconds. In addition to this, the program shift knob will click and spin.
2. Automatic machines, a little more modern than the previous ones and having indicators of step-by-step execution of washing modes (we are talking about AVL, AVTL, AVSL models and others). They will report a breakdown by flashing the three buttons of additional functions located below (in each model they will be called differently, in some “Easy Ironing”, “Quick Wash”, in others - “Super Wash” or “Extra Rinse” ) At the same time, the “Key” indicator, informing about closing the hatch door, will blink quickly.
3. In the Hotpoint Ariston Low-End series, three lamps at the bottom will simultaneously flicker in the series of a phased program of washing (indicators "Hatch blocking", "End of cycle" and "Drain"). Also, an error can be notified by all the additional function lamps located on the control panel.
   
4. Hotpoint Ariston Aqualtis models that are not equipped with a display can report a malfunction with the three lowest temperature indicators (“No heating” lamps, 30 degrees and 40 degrees), and they will flicker.

What does such a code mean? The designation F07 / F7 indicates a malfunction of the sensor that controls the level of water collected, or a malfunction in the heater circuit. Often it appears when the machine seems that the heater is not completely immersed in water.

Having noticed that the washer shows this error, it is better to refrain from its operation until the damage is eliminated, this will avoid the appearance of more serious problems with the equipment.

Let's try to reset

Like any washer, Ariston machines can give a short-term malfunction in the electronic system. Its cause may be an increased voltage in the network, a magnetic storm, contact with other electrical appliances and more. Therefore, first try to fix the situation with your own hands, namely, reset the error code F07 or F7 and see if it appears again. If the machine gives an error in subsequent times, the problem is not a short failure, but a more serious violation.

How does an error reset occur? Unplug the Ariston machine from the network, wait 15-20 minutes, then plug the power cord into a power outlet and start the machine. If these actions have helped, and the designation no longer appears, then the machine will be able to work further without repair. But if the code makes itself felt again and again, urgent diagnostics of the washer is needed.

What will we check?

Begin by checking the connection of the pressostat connector J3 to the main electrical module. In some cases, it happens that the wiring departs or completely burns out due to power surges. When this is the case, it may be necessary to solder or replace failed wires.

After inspect the pressure switch for any kind of defects. If they are found, replace the damaged part. Test the heater using a multimeter. When the heater is in full working condition, then with a power of 1800 watts, it will give a current resistance of 25 Ohms. If the heater does not pass this test, you will have to repair it or completely replace it.

It will also be useful to inspect the wiring for a contact in the connector of the CM1 electrical module. Diagnose the heater relay using the controller. If necessary, replace the electrical module. Often the problem lies precisely in the failure of the heater; therefore, we will dwell in more detail on how to fix the error by replacing the heater.

Change the heater

Here is one of the methods that allows you to change the heater on an Ariston washing machine with your own hands. Heater failure can manifest itself in two ways: open circuit or leakage of current into the housing. In both cases, it is necessary to replace the failed module with a new, working one.

To change the heating element, you need to get a free approach to the rear wall of the housing. In the basement of the washing machine you can see a small plug. Remove the fixing screws and remove the wall covering the hole in the housing. Through the window that opens, you will get access to the heater, which is located on the top, on the right.

Using the smartphone’s camera, fix how all wiring should be connected correctly. On the side you can see the power contacts - zero and phase, colored red and blue, respectively. In the center is the contact housing, this cable has a yellow-green tint. Please note that next to the housing contact and the power cord is a temperature sensor, which is a plastic connector equipped with a special latch. All wiring to the heater must be carefully disconnected.

The nut located in the center of the heater must be loosened. She pulls on an elastic band designed to completely seal the joint. It is not necessary to fully tighten the nut, just loosen it and push it inward at the same time as the tension bolt. These actions will lead to a weakening of the seal, and will make it possible to get the heater out of the washer.

It happens that you can’t remove the heater from the first try due to the fact that the rubber of the seal prevents this. Take a slotted screwdriver, and prying the heater in a circle, carefully remove it from the tank.

Having removed the heating element, you will probably see a calcareous white coating on it. It is this layer that violates the heat transfer, as a result of which the part overheats and breaks the circuit. When replacing the heater, the temperature measurement sensor is removed from the idle element and attached to a new one.

To mount the new heating element easily and smoothly, lubricate the gasket with a liquid detergent. When installing a serviceable part further, be sure to check that the edge of the element is connected to the mount located in the tank. To do this, insert the heater in the tank and press it with force until it fully enters the hole in the tank. Then fasten the structure by tightening the tension nut. Connect all available wires and contacts in the same way.

Before installing the cap, check the heater for leaks - fill the tank with water without starting the wash. If it turns out that the connection is leaking fluid or air, tighten the tension nut more tightly. When the washing machine is operational, assemble the Ariston machine completely.
