Error code F05 on an Indesit washing machine

Indesit washing machines with a display on the control panel have built-in error codes that indicate any breakdown or malfunction. One of these codes is code f05, which can appear either for a serious reason or due to poor care of the machine. Let's figure out how to fix this problem.

Why does the error appear, what does it mean?

If the Indesit washing machine stops draining water, error f05 may appear on the screen. This means there is a problem with the drainage system. What can go wrong? Option two:

• drain pump (most likely failure);
• water level sensor (pressostat).

If the water sensor malfunctions, the following happens: the pump pumps water out of the tank, the draining process is completed, but the pressure switch does not generate a signal that there is no water in the machine. As a result, the program freezes and an error appears on the display.

In some cases, when such an error occurs, the drain hose of the Indesit machine, a pipe or a sewer branch becomes clogged, cleaning which will eliminate the problem.

Where to look and how to fix the problem?

The first thing we do when error f05 appears is to eliminate all kinds of blockages throughout the entire drainage path. To check the drain filter, find a small door or panel at the bottom of the Indesit washing machine and open it. Behind it you will see a lid that needs to be carefully turned counterclockwise and pulled out by pulling it towards you. Before unscrewing, do not forget to place a large rag that will absorb the remaining waste water flowing out of the tank.

The filter must be inspected and rinsed well with tap water.If it turns out to be relatively clean and no blockages were found, we proceed to cleaning the drain hose running from the machine to the sewer branch. To do this you need:

1. prepare a bucket for waste water;
2. loosen the clamp holding the drain hose on the sewer branch;
   

   Important! Check the sewer line for blockages. It may be that water simply cannot pass through the clog.

3. lower the hose into a bucket to drain the remaining water;
4. take out the drain filter;
5. Unscrew the bolt that holds the pump to the housing;
   
6. the Indesit machine must now be placed on its side;
7. from the bottom we take out the pump;
   
8. loosen the clamp on the hose;
9. remove the hose from the housing;
10. rinse the hose;
11. We assemble the machine in reverse order.

You can immediately check for blockages in the drain pipe by disconnecting it from the pump and tank. We rinse it under water and install it in place. If the drainage system also turns out to be without any major blockages, then do not rush to assemble the machine, but immediately inspect the pump. After checking the drain system and pump, you need to run the machine in test mode to check that the malfunction has been resolved. If error F 05 appears again, then you need to look for a water level sensor. The pressure switch in the Indesit washing machine is located under the top cover of the washing machine; it can be easily removed, you just need to unscrew two bolts on the back of the case. On the side wall you will see a round part from which two wires and one small hose come.

Do not rush to immediately change it to a new one, you need to first check the pressure switch for performance. The fact is that the wire contacts or the hose through which pressure is supplied from the tank to the pressure switch may be damaged. After checking all the parts and the pressure switch itself, we assemble the machine and start the test mode.

If even after this the problem does not go away, which happens extremely rarely, then the cause must be looked for in the electronic module of the Indesit machine. It is quite difficult to cope with such a task on your own; it is better to turn to a specialist.    F05 appeared sometimes for me. The pump seemed to be working, but it turned out that there was a lot of wear on the rotor bearings, and it sometimes “stuck” to the stator. The pump needs to be replaced, the machine is 15 years old. Temporarily solved the problem by turning the rotor shaft 180*.
