Error F01 in Ariston washing machine

F01 error in AristonOn a Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine or an old Ariston, an error with the F01 code is found on all devices with and without a display, and means about the same thing. Deciphering the error usually does not cause difficulties, however, in a particular practical situation it can be difficult to identify the breakdown that caused it. In this article, we will try to figure it out and present the most reliable information regarding the F01 error.

Code Options

First of all, let's look at the options that error F 01 can be presented in. In this case, the manufacturer of washing machines Ariston did not have any special surprises for us. If the machine has a display, then about 85% of the models with the corresponding breakdown will display an error F01, and at 15% - F1.

There are simply no other code options on models of Ariston machines with a display, for which we say many thanks to the manufacturer. The easier it is to decrypt the error.

If the Ariston washing machine does not have a display, then recognizing the F01 error becomes a little more difficult, but with the appropriate knowledge, any user will cope with this task. What are the options?

  1. On Hotpoint-Ariston AQSL washers, an error F01 will be “told” by a gradually flashing temperature indicator, which Ariston Bug F01located at the bottom of the control panel.
  2. Hotpoint-Ariston Low-End will transmit the F01 code with a blinking key lamp, or with lit function lights located horizontally.
  3. On the machines of the AVSL line, this code is transmitted by the blinking of the indicator for additional rinsing and at the same time the frequent blinking of the lamp indicating the door is locked (key).
  4. And, finally, the old models of Ariston Margherita washing machines give the F01 signal through the constantly on “Key” indicator and the steadily blinking on indicator.

What does the code mean?

We managed to figure out the options for the F01 code, now we will deal with its decryption. An error with the code F01, as well as F1, means a failure in the electrical circuit that controls the motor. A rather dry wording, which will not tell the layman about problems, absolutely, nothing. If we start to describe the error in more detail, we must say that the control module sending signals to the engine does not receive a response from it. So, three situations are potentially possible:

  • the control board itself is out of order and therefore the commands given by it are incorrect;
  • the engine has broken, which means that it is simply not able to respond to commands from the control board;
  • a problem arose between the engine and the control module (wiring or contacts).

At first glance, the decryption sounds pretty scary, hinting at a serious breakdown, but in fact, everything can be much simpler, because this error often appears as a result of a local failure in the electronic module. You can fix this failure in a few minutes with your own hands.

For 99% of the Ariston family washing machines, the F01 code is decrypted in exactly the same way. But, as you know, there are exceptions to every rule. Here in our case, Ariston of the AD line has a slightly different self-diagnosis system, in which this error means a loss of communication between the electronic module and the display module of the control panel. In other words, this error indicates that the control module loses its ability to communicate with the control panel, from which the latter begins to "behave inappropriately."

In fact, in the Ariston washing machine of the AD line, the error with the code F01 for decryption is a complete analogue of the error F12, which is found on absolutely all other models of Ariston washing machines.

Eliminate the causes of the code

We turn to the most difficult - to find and eliminate the reasons why the code F01 or F1 appeared. Our masters recommend starting to sort out the possible reasons for the appearance of this error code starting with the simplest ones, gradually moving on to the most complex ones (requiring dismantling of the CM).

First you need to check the control module of the Ariston washing machine for a local failure. This is done very simply, we disconnect the power cord from 220V for 5-7 minutes, then turn it back on and try to start the “home assistant”. If the reboot did not work, try restarting the machine a couple more times.In rare cases, a local failure is resolved by two or even three reboots.

low voltageAn indirect cause of engine dysfunction of the Ariston washing machine may be too low a voltage in the mains. In small towns and villages, this happens all the time. The Ariston machine does not always respond to such a fall with the F01 error, but it is worth checking, because problems with the power supply can lead to a very serious breakdown of the washing machine. In general, if problems with a voltage drop in your home arise often, you need to purchase voltage regulator for a washing machine and connect your “home assistant” to it, that’s how you will save her.

Next, you need to take a special device called a multimeter and check the integrity of the power cord, as well as the outlet. Of course, there is little chance that this error appeared due to a network cable or socket, but they still exist, and it won’t hurt to check, especially since it’s quick. Once all the simple reasons have been noted by us, look inside.

  • Somewhere in the room, if it is not possible to drag the washing machine into a garage or a barn, free up some space so that nothing would interfere with the repair and move the SM there.
  • Pull out the powder receptacle and put it aside.
  • We unscrew the self-tapping screws that hold the back wall of the Ariston washing machine.
  • We remove the drive belt that is bothering us.
  • We take a photo of the location of the wires on the engine and remove them.
  • Unscrew the engine mounts, then pull it off.

Having removed the engine, we must first check its brushes, and then the winding. You will also need to see if there is a leak on the case. We do the following:

  • on the sides of the engine casing we find small screws that hold the brushes and unscrew them;
  • we take out the brushes and inspect them, if at least one is erased, we change both;
  • install the multimeter probes on the winding and begin to systematically check the turns for breakdown;
  • if everything is normal with the winding, we check if there is a leak on the case.

If you manage to detect a breakdown in the winding or a leak on the case, feel free to throw out the engine, since repairs like this are comparable in price to the cost of a new part.

control moduleIf the engine is in order, we begin methodically using a multimeter to check the wiring that powers the motor. We previously disconnected it. In this case, we recommend checking each posting 2-3 times to avoid errors, otherwise everything will have to be started anew.

Last of all, check the control board. For our part, we traditionally do not recommend climbing to this part on our own, because if you do not have the appropriate qualifications, you can easily damage it, and this is a much more expensive repair with all the ensuing consequences. It will be much better to entrust this business to a professional. You will end up saving nerves, effort, time and maybe even money!

In conclusion, we note that if the F01 code suddenly appears on your Ariston washing machine, do not panic. Read our article and hope that the control module remains intact. Have a good repair!
