Error E23 in the Bosch washing machine

error E 23 in Bosch machinesError E23 of the Bosch washing machine is not so rare, however, in the description of the codes of the standard self-diagnosis system for washing machines of this brand, you will not find this error. The usual error codes of a modern Bosch machine begin with the letter “F” and only a few begin with “E”. E23 is an exception that occurs on some Bosch washing machine models. Nevertheless, this code needs to be decrypted, and we will be engaged in it.

Leakage in the pallet of the machine

Error E23 is decoded in much the same way as error F23, which is much more common in the Bosch washing machine. Namely, E23 notifies that the sensor of the leakage protection system, which is located in the pan of the washing machine, has tripped.

Aqua stop sensor works very simply. There is a special segment in the pan of the washing machine connected to the float. When water enters the sump, the float rises, the sensor is triggered and E23 appears on the display. The causes of leaks can be different:

  • the washing tank has lost weight;
  • crack in the drain pipe;
  • the hose is loose or leaking;
  • powder receptacle not inserted or leaking.

It is not at all necessary that a leak has actually occurred, because the sensor can make itself felt for another reason.

error e23 on the displayIn the practice of our masters there was the following case. A customer called us who complained about an E23 error that arose on his Bosch brand washing machine. He wanted a brief oral consultation with our master about this error. The master began to tell him about the float sensor of the Aqua Stop system, which worked in the pan and because of this, they say, an error appeared. The client listened, and then said that his car is not equipped with a leakage protection system at all and that it does not have a drip tray, much less an Aqua-stop hose.

The master was surprised and invited the client to leave the house in order to deal with the problem in fact. As a result, it turned out that the machine really does not have a leakage protection system, however, its module has a code E23 that diagnoses this error. The problem appeared only as a result of a short circuit.

They tried to reset the error, rebooted the control module, checked the circuit, but nothing helped. It was not possible either to solve the problem or to find its causes. As a result, it was possible to get rid of the annoying code only after reprogramming the electronic module. This situation is indicative of the fact that you remember that Aqua stop Aqua stop, and you should not forget about glitches in the control module. Error E23 is at least rare, but it can be caused precisely by such breakdowns.

Sensor dysfunction

No wonder the masters when installing a washing machine with a leakage protection system recommend checking the pallet for various debris. In our practice, it happened that the owners, moving the washing machine to another place, found error E23. Feeling the pallet, they made sure that everything is dry and the cause of the error is incomprehensible. Our craftsmen opened the pan and found out that a small piece of plastic that had previously been in the pan, when carrying the Bosch machine, fell under the float and, naturally, lifted it. They removed the garbage, put the pallet in its place, and the car now works as before.

Debris in the pan may cause the sensor to fail when leakage does occur.

sensor in the pan

By the way, this sensor is quite sensitive. It is enough to be inaccurate when installing or carrying the washing machine, and the problem in the form of an E23 error will immediately "draw". Separately, it should be said about a short circuit that the sensor can burn out with all the ensuing consequences and about the breakage of the wires supplying the sensor. The latter, by the way, happens during a makeshift repair, when the owner of the "home assistant", while disassembling it, accidentally breaks the wire from the case to the pallet to the sensor.

In general, if you encounter error E23, pay special attention to the float sensor located in the tray of the Bosch washing machine.Already at a detailed inspection, there is a chance to detect a malfunction, and having found it, you need to start repair.

Troubleshooting

If you saw that the error E23 popped up due to the accumulation of water in the washing machine, it is urgent to start looking for the cause of the leak. Some users on forums advise to tilt the car body to eliminate this error, so that the float goes down, others pump out water with a pear for an enema, and others “pervert” somehow. For our part, we note that such measures are purely temporary. If the cause of the leak is not eliminated, the water will accumulate again and what, will you pump it out again?

In our opinion, it is necessary to partially disassemble the Bosch washing machine, checking for leaks:Bosch washing machine disassembly

  • branch pipes and their joints;
  • hoses and their joints;
  • pump
  • tank;
  • dispenser.

About how to better disassemble a washing machine of this brand is described in the article Device washing machines Bosch, we will not focus on this. Having discovered a leaking branch pipe or tank, it can be replaced, or it can be covered with sealant or cold welding, depending on the nature of the damage. By the way, some masters are very cool about this method of repair, preferring to change the entire part. In general, this is correct, but there are situations when the crack is very small, and replacing the same tank is associated with certain troubles, and this is expensive. Although, of course, you decide.

If the problem is not in the leak, but in the Aqua stop sensor, you will have to replace it. To do this, unscrew and carefully (without tearing the wire), remove the pallet. Disconnect the wire from the sensor. Prying the sensor out of the latches with a screwdriver and move it to the side. Put in its place a new, original sensor.

In conclusion, we note that the error E23, that the error F23 on the Bosch brand washing machine is decrypted in the same way, therefore, all measures must be taken either to eliminate the leak detected by the Aqua stop system or to repair the Aqua stop system, depending on what caused this code to appear. Good luck
