Error E20 in the washing machine Aeg

error e20 in aegModern washing machines are equipped with a self-diagnosis program, and German AEG machines even more so. Information in the form of a code on the display allows you to reduce the time to troubleshoot and fix it. One of the common errors of this brand is an error with code E20. What does it mean, what to do in this case, we will figure it out together.

Error decoding

E20 code in AEG washing machine informs the user that there is no drain. In other words, the AEG brand washing machine for some reason cannot get rid of the waste water that remains in the tank after washing. Accordingly, she also cannot continue to execute the washing program, since there is simply nowhere to get clean water. This problem may be caused by the following reasons:

  • blockage in the drain filter;
  • pump malfunction;
  • kink of the drain hose.

Do not confuse this error with the error E21, they are of course similar. However, error E21 indicates a wider range of problems associated with the discharge of waste water from the tank. The presence of errors E20 and E21 greatly facilitate the work of the master, since they limit the range of reasons for which there is no drain. Accordingly, the master will not have to check a bunch of details before he discovers a weak spot that caused the specified error.

Alternative Codes

There are several dozen models of cars of this brand, released at different times. Their diagnostic system is slightly different. More precisely, the error codes for AEG washing machines differ. In some washing machines, alternative codes to E20 are codes C2 and EF0. In addition, you will hear two beeps. They also mean blockage in the drainage system.

Note! On some models, the EF0 code also indicates increased foaming.

We will not be distracted and return to a specific error E20, what to do with it?

Eliminate blockages

filter cloggingFirst, try to reset the program by disconnecting the washing machine from the network. This is the most universal way to terminate one program and start a new one after reconnecting the washer to the network. Then turn on the machine and try to start the drain. If the reset does not help and the error reappears or the machine freezes, then proceed to check the drain filter. At the AEG washing machine, it is located in the lower right corner. Open the door and unscrew the part. Then we rinse and return to the place.

After the drain filter, check the drain hose for kinks. Perhaps you moved the machine and accidentally squeezed it. This happens infrequently, but still worth checking.

Change the pump

Unlike LG or Samsung brand washing machines, replacing a pump in an AEG machine will be a bit more difficult. Nevertheless, to do this work on their own is quite within the power of many owners whose hands grow “from the right place”. The work is complicated by the fact that the pump in this case can only be reached through the front wall of the machine. Let us describe this process in detail:

  1. disconnect the equipment from the electric network, water supply and discharge;
  2. pull the machine to a free place, providing free access to all walls;
  3. unscrew the back, on top two screws that hold the top cover;
  4. move the cover horizontally, and then remove it;
  5. pull out the powder receptacle from the seat;
  6. unscrew the screws that hold the front of the case under the tray;
  7. remove the control panel from the latches and carefully put it on top of the machine, without disconnecting the chips with wires;
  8. unscrew a few more screws under the panel;
  9. open the hatch door and remove the metal clamp from the cuff, picking it up at the bottom with some suitable tool (only not sharp);
  10. detach the water inlet from the cuff and, if available, the air inlet;
  11. remove the cuff from the groove of the front wall and insert inside the drum;
    remove the cuff
  12. disconnect the wires from the door lock;
  13. pull out the drain filter;

    ! Do not forget to put rags under the washer in case water leaks.

  14. tilt the machine to the side so that from the bottom you can unscrew the screws on which the front of the body is held;
  15. lifting the case up, remove it to the side;
  16. disconnect all wires and fittings from the pump;
    take out the pump
  17. unscrew the pump from the housing and pull it out of the machine;
  18. replace the old one with a new part;
  19. assemble the equipment in the reverse order.

It is worth saying a few words about the pump of the AEG washing machine. In some cases, you can not change the entire part, but only replace the impeller if it is damaged.

So, the E20 error is one of the easy to fix. If you carefully follow the instructions, you can cope with this difficult task at home. Good luck
