Error E14 on the Kandy washing machine

Error E14 on a Kandy washing machineIf the error E14 suddenly appears during operation of the Candy washing machine, its further use becomes impossible. To solve the problem, you should decrypt the code and determine what kind of breakdown caused it to appear. After finding out the cause of the problem, you can try to repair the machine. And how to do it yourself we will tell in this article.

E14 code value

An error with this code can be observed in Kandy washing machines equipped with a display. If there is no display, then in the event of a malfunction, a blinking light can be observed on the front panel of the device. To determine the DTC, you need to count the number of flashes in the series. A series of flashes are separated by a pause of about 5 seconds. Error E14 corresponds to 14 flashes.

DTC E14, as well as its equivalent signal on a typewriter without a display, indicates a failure of the heating element, temperature sensor, or control module. To troubleshoot with error E14, you will need to check each of these parts. We recommend starting with the simpler ones - a heating element and a temperature sensor.

We test TEN

The heating element and temperature sensor are located at the rear of the Candy. To work with them, you will have to remove the back cover of the device or remove the cover of the service hatch. These actions are very simple and do not require additional explanation. Before starting work, do not forget to disconnect the faulty machine from electricity.

After disconnecting the back wall, you will see the heater located at the bottom of the machine. First of all, you need to disconnect the wiring from the contacts, and then prepare the multimeter. To check the health of the heater, it is necessary to calculate the resistance of the part. For a theoretical calculation of resistance, you need to know the following data:

remove the back wall of the Kandy washer

  1. U is the voltage supplied to the heater. Usually in household electrical networks it is 220 volts.
  2. P is the capacity of the water heater. This value can be found in the passport of the washing machine or on the Internet by model number.

Next, using the simplest physical formula, we calculate the resistance: R = U² / P. If the value obtained in the calculations is equal to the number on the tester screen or close to it, then the heater is in working condition. To carry out the measurement, you need to switch to the resistance measurement mode. Install a 200 Ohm selector on the tester and connect the multimeter probes to the terminals of the heating element.

  1. If the heater is OK, a number close to the calculated value will be displayed on the screen of the multimeter.
  2. If you see a unit on the screen, then a gap has occurred inside the element, and the heater must be replaced.
  3. A resistance value close to or equal to zero indicates a short circuit inside the heater and the need to replace it.

Checking the heater on a Kandy typewriter

But even if the test showed that the heater spiral is in perfect order, this does not mean that there is no malfunction. You should also check the element for a breakdown in the housing. To do this, put the tester in buzzer mode. If you connect the wires in this mode, the light will come on and a beep will sound. The procedure for checking looks like this.

  1. We attach one probe of the tester to the heater terminal.
  2. The second probe touch the body.
  3. If the appliance does not beep, there is no malfunction.

If a squeak is heard, further use of the heater is dangerous, it should be changed.

Need to check the temperature sensor

To check the temperature sensor, you will have to remove it from the machine. Disconnect all power wires from it, loosen the fasteners and remove the sensor from the machine. After removing the sensor, you need to measure the resistance using a multimeter. Consider how to do this.

  1. Prepare the multimeter for operation in resistance measurement mode.
  2. Connect the probes to the terminals of the temperature sensor. At a temperature of 20 degrees, the resistance should not exceed 6000 Ohms.
  3. Pour warm water into a small container and immerse the sensor in it. After placing a serviceable sensor in the water, its resistance will be understood. At a water temperature of about 35 degrees, it should reach 1350 Ohm.

Do not continue to use the sensor if it is defective! In the event of a breakdown, this part must be replaced, it cannot be repaired. Operation of a faulty sensor will lead to a large number of new failures.

Check and repair the control module

Let's move on to the most important part: what if a control module breaks down? Is it possible to do it yourself, or should you seek the help of professionals? A definite answer cannot be given here, a lot depends on your skills in working with electronic devices, the nature and complexity of the breakdown.

Kandy washing machine control module

The most difficult thing for a layperson is to find the breakdown itself. It is necessary to test each part of the module, identify a damaged track or a burnt part and carry out their repair or replacement. If you do not have the necessary skills, there is practically no chance of doing everything right and not exacerbating the problem.

Of course, you can replace electronic components; in modern Candy machines, this is not difficult. But without a good diagnosis, this measure will not work. If the breakdown is not resolved, the new boards will burn again.

Another option is to completely removecontrol module and take it to a specialist. However, usually masters do not recommend doing this. If it was decided to resort to the help of a professional, it would be better to give him access to the faulty machine entirely. After checking on site, the master will be able to more accurately determine the causes and make repairs.

Note! Only qualified craftsmen should provide quality service to Kandy washing machines. Do not trust your assistant to amateurs, before calling the master, read his recommendations.

If to summarize all of the above, it turns out that if a breakdown of the control module happened, it would be easier and cheaper to consult a specialist. This module is a rather complex element, and an attempt to fix the problem with your own hands can lead to even greater troubles and greater costs.

If the equipment troubleshooting was not carried out correctly, you can accidentally spoil not only the control unit, but also the heating element, the pump for draining the water, or even the engine. In the worst case, all of the above may burn out at once, and you will have to purchase a new machine. Hence the question: is it worth the risk, or is it easier to entrust this work to a professional? After all, after the work of a good specialist, your Candy washing machine will serve you for more than one year.
