Error E02 in the Electrolux washing machine

Error E02 in the Electrolux washing machineThe fault code indicates a serious breakdown that has occurred in the machine. Almost always, an error E02 signals an upcoming expensive repair of washing equipment. An exception will be only a short-term system failure, issued by the equipment once, which is eliminated by restarting the washer. If turning the machine off and on again after 15 minutes did not help, and the display still gives an error, you should do a detailed diagnosis of the Electrolux machine.

Testing engine

What does this code mark indicate? Mistake E02 indicates a malfunction of the SMA motor or control board. On most Electroluxes, a collector engine is installed, which you can check yourself.engine connection diagram

What to do before testing a motor? Initially, you need to understand the wiring diagram of the engine. Most of the collector engines have a fairly simple circuit.

From the schematic image it is clear that the electric motor starts through a 220V point, passes through the control triac, reverse relay connectors, stator winding and rotor.

In the Electrolux washing machines, a relay is used to switch the stator winding, and the contacts of the command device are used. The described components are located in the control module of the washing machine.

The stator winding is divided into 2 sections. This design feature reduces the effect of interference periodically arising due to the appearance of sparks on the collector.

The drum of any washing machine rotates in different directions. This movement is caused by a change in polarity of the stator winding. Some models have a separate tap for winding, it is activated during the spinning of things. In this case, the electric current is connected to any of the extreme terminals and this branch. At the stage of the main washing process, the stator winding is turned on through the extreme leads, this ensures a leisurely, smooth rotation of the drum.

In order to check the engine and find a solution to the problem, it is necessary to connect the rotor and stator windings one at a time, and turn them on into the mains. This connection diagram is graphically presented as follows:rotor winding connection

This diagnostic method is characterized by some disadvantages. Firstly, choosing this method of verification, you will not have the opportunity to make sure that the motor is 100% functional. The regular rotation of the shaft will not be able to guarantee that at various stages of washing the Electrolux machine will not give out any malfunction.

In addition, connecting elements according to this scheme does not provide protection. Therefore, if the engine “crawls” during verification, it will most likely simply fail. To protect the motor from possible damage, it is better to include an additional link in the circuit. As an additional element, you can useTEN of the washing machine or just a high power lamp (more than 500 watts). The diagram will look like this:connection of the rotor and stator winding with an additional element

The ballast included in the connection will protect the engine under test. If a short circuit occurs, the current will go to the heater, which will begin to heat up.

There is another way to diagnose the engine in the Electrolux washing machine. Stator and rotor windings are connected similarly to the second circuit, only they are powered by a special laboratory transformer with a capacity of over 500W. The advantage of the method is the ability to constantly monitor the number of revolutions and take timely measures in case of any malfunction. For greater safety, a fuse with a throughput of 5-10 Amps is allowed.

Instead of an autotransformer, it is allowed to use an electronic regulator for diagnostics, which is usually used to monitor loads of a given power. In this case, it is better to turn to specialists for help, but if you have some knowledge of electronics, you can carry out diagnostics and repairs yourself.

Another option for checking the motor is to observe how strong and bright the spark will be between the brushes and the collector engine. With significant sparking, the washer motor is likely to be defective.

It is by the above-mentioned methods that it is allowed to check the electric motor of a machine that displays error E02. If after diagnosing the engine it was not possible to find a solution to the problem, you should proceed to checking another important element of the system.

Check the elements of the control board

The reason for the display of error E02 may be a malfunction of the control board. To fix the washing machine, you must inspect the circuit board. The first step is to remove the part from the washer. This is done as follows:

  • disconnect the device;
  • pull out the detergent tray;
  • unscrew 2 bolts located near the hole for the dispenser;
  • unscrew 4 more self-tapping screws located on top of the machine (under the SM cover);
  • pull the control panel up and remove it;
  • pry the panel latches with a slotted screwdriver and disassemble the case;
  • remove the board from the disassembled case.

Manipulate the control panel carefully so as not to damage or confuse the power supply wiring diagram.

If there are no visible defects on the board, it may be a matter of hidden damage. It should take turns to check the triacs for breakdown with a multimeter. The tester must be put into dialing mode. The voltage value recorded between the elements will be displayed on the screen of the device.terminal arrangement

For diagnostics, attach the multimeter probes to terminals A1 and A2. If the part is in good working order, the tester display will show the value “1” or “0L”; if a breakdown is detected, the number will be close to zero.

You can see if the board triac opens, if you briefly close its control electrode with the tester probe. Using this procedure, an electric current will be applied to the triac. As soon as the voltage ceases to flow to the control electrode, the triac will probably close. This suggests that a minimal electric current should pass through it to maintain a conductive state. The defective item will have to be replaced with a new one.

If you familiarize yourself with the upcoming work front, you understand that you cannot correct the situation yourself, or after all the steps taken, the washing machine still shows the code, contact the service center for help from a competent wizard. Resetting an E02 error involves a complex, expensive repair.
