DHE error on LG washing machine

DHE error on LG washing machineOnly owners of washing machines equipped with a dryer can see the dhe fault code on the display. What exactly could have become unusable: heating element, temperature sensor, fan? Let's figure out what the dhe error on a washing machine means and how to fix the equipment yourself.

Origin of this code

In the user manual for the ElG washer-dryer, this fault code is not described in detail. The manufacturer gives the following interpretation of the error: dhe: “problem with drying temperature.” In addition, the manual describes what to do to fix the breakdown. Need to check:

  • heater responsible for drying things;
  • temperature sensor and wiring supplying the thermostat;
  • triacs of the control board responsible for the operation of the heating element.

The further progress of the repair will depend on the diagnostics performed. In some cases, you will have to replace the heating element or temperature sensor. Work related to the electronic board will be more complex. It may be necessary to either reinstall the triacs or solder the tracks leading from them.

Experienced technicians also recommend checking the fan connector of drying equipment.

check if the connector is well connected In some cases, these connectors, especially on Russian-made LG washing machines, are not fully inserted into place. After some time of using the machine, contact is lost, resulting in problems with drying clothes. The fan stops working. The solution to the problem can be very simple, and consist in securely securing the connectors to the seat.

If your LG machine produces a DHE code, special attention should be paid to checking the temperature sensor. The resistance of the drying thermostat at a room temperature of about 25 °C should be 49 kOhm. If the value detected during diagnostics differs significantly from the standard value, the sensor will have to be replaced.

Replacing the heating element

Heating element of LG washing machineIf the washer issues the code dhe, and during the test the heating element is faulty, it means that the element needs to be changed urgently. How to correct the situation, whether it is possible to carry out repairs yourself, we will figure it out further. So, the algorithm for replacing the heater in a washer-dryer will be as follows:

  • de-energize the device;
  • remove the top cover of the machine body. To do this, unscrew the two bolts holding the panel;
  • remove the metal strip located under the lid to gain free access to the “insides” of the washing machine;

The drying heating element is located in the heating chamber; to get to the element, you need to open it.

  • disconnect the hatch cuff and all electrical connectors from the heater chamber, unscrew the screws holding the upper part of the part;
  • remove the cover of the heating chamber, directly below it is the heating element;
  • unscrew the bolt holding the heating element;
  • install the new heating element in its original place and secure it with a screw;
  • make sure that the chamber seal is tucked into place around the entire perimeter of the part;
  • Reassemble the washing machine in reverse order.

When pulling the cuff onto the heating chamber, it is better to put on the back part of the seal first, then the front.

If the machine displays the dhe code, there is a drying problem. It is necessary to identify a breakdown in the system and, based on diagnostic data, replace the damaged element.You can perform simple repairs yourself; if a defect is found on the control board, it is better to contact a specialist.

    I wonder if the developer of this unit will ever figure out that the problem in the drying chamber regularly appears due to dust from the laundry, which accumulates in the chamber with heating elements during the drying process. The fan jams, the sensor detects overheating and stops drying.

    Thanks for the comment. I lifted the lid of the washer, unscrewed the chamber with the fan - there was a lot of dust there. I pulled out everything that came out and cleaned the temperature sensor (there was a lot stuck on it). The fan was still spinning poorly - I pulled out a lump of dust from it, after which the fan began to spin easily. Put it back together and everything worked.

    After 15 min. In drying mode it gave a dHE error. After disassembly, a visual inspection showed that the fan chamber and the fan impeller itself were completely clogged with dust and dirt from the laundry. I cleaned everything and at the same time rang the power circuit going to the heating element. The scheme is as follows: zero comes directly to one contact of the heating element, and the phase goes first through a thermal fuse (in a square casing in the form of a tablet, then through a ceramic short-circuit fuse (located in a heat-resistant casing) it is connected to the second contact of the heating element. The fuses ring, working, resistance Heating element - 33 Ohm, also working. Temperature sensor - 49 kOhm, also alive. Everything was assembled and working.In this case, cleaning the fan chamber and the fan itself helped.
