CE error on LG washing machine

CE error on LG washing machineYou should be wary if only a running LG washing machine shows a CE error. At best, this is a single system failure, which can be eliminated by simply rebooting the equipment. If this measure does not help, then the cause of the malfunction is more serious and will have to be found out as soon as possible.

Urgent actions

What should I do if the display shows a CE code? Such an error does not always indicate a serious breakdown. Before you start looking for a problem in the system, take a couple of very simple steps.

The first thing you need to do is sniff the body of the machine. If you smell melting wiring, you can assume that the problem is that the electric motor is overloaded. If the weight of laundry permissible for loading into the drum is greatly exceeded, an overload occurs, as a result of which the protection is activated and the motor is turned off. If the machine issues a code precisely during the main wash or spin cycle, you should pause the operation of the device and remove some of the items from the drum. After 10 minutes have passed, try running the cleaning cycle again.

Restart the washer. Sometimes the error appears due to a power surge that causes the main control board to fail. The solution to the problem may lie on the surface: you need to turn off the power to the machine for 15 minutes and plug it back into the network. If the cause was the electronic module, the CE error will be reset.

Turning off/on the washing machine using the power button will not be considered a restart; it is imperative to completely turn off the power to the equipment by unplugging the cord from the outlet.

If you can’t correct the situation using simple methods, you need to move on to more detailed diagnostics. Depending on the breakdown, the complexity of the work to be done and the repair method are determined: on your own or with the help of a specialist.

What caused this error?

LG CM control boardIn fact, the CE fault code may indicate the failure of completely different parts of the automatic machine. To fix the washing machine, you need to very carefully study the “symptoms of the disease” and identify the cause.

If, when performing the main wash or the “Spin” command, the machine reports a CE error, at the same time noise and grinding noises are heard, most likely the problem is in the bearings or oil seal. The repair will consist of disassembling the washing machine body, removing damaged parts and completely replacing them.

A breakdown of the Hall sensor, the purpose of which is to monitor the speed of the electric motor, will also be characterized by twitching of the drum in LG direct drive models. The washing machine can give an error at any stage of operation. You will have to diagnose the tachogenerator using a multimeter and, if necessary, install a new sensor.

When making repairs on your own, strictly follow safety precautions and work only with a completely de-energized washing machine.

You should also inspect the wiring connecting the control module and the engine. The solution to the problem may be the need to replace the burnt cable or tighten the connection. If there are wiring defects, the machine can display a code at any stage of the wash. Another characteristic sign is a burning smell emanating from the front wall of the case. To repair the controller, you need to clean or solder the tracks located on control board, or completely replace the unit.

The next cause of the CE error may be a failed electric motor stator. You will need to diagnose the engine and probably replace the stator. The code is also displayed if foreign objects get between the CMA tank and the drum.
