Error 03 on the LG washing machine

Error 03 on the LG washing machineThanks to the self-diagnosis system that modern automatic machines are equipped with, it is easier for users to understand what caused the equipment to stop working. That error 03 on the LG washing machine means some housewives may be interested. In fact, such a code does not exist, but there is an OE malfunction designation, which, inattentively, is interpreted incorrectly. We will understand why this code is displayed, how to restore the washing machine to its previous working capacity?

Why does this code appear?

The designation is displayed on the device display after the end of a running program. The washing machine gives an error OE in case the waste liquid has not drained from the tank after five minutes after the completion of the wash cycle. It is not necessary that the water will not leave at all, perhaps the rate of its removal from the system is simply much lower than the normative.

The tank of the washing machine must be completely empty in the allotted 5 minutes after the end of the cycle.

What to do in such a situation? Experts see several reasons that can lead to a similar problem:

  • clogged dust filter and snail;
  • kink or crack of the drain hose;
  • failure of the pump responsible for draining the water;
  • blockage in the sewer pipe;
  • malfunction of the pressure switch.

The list of probable causes is rather big. To remedy the situation, there is nothing else left but to check each element of the drainage system of the washer, and also to make sure that the sewer network is not clogged.

Filter element cleaning

Better to start with the simplest one, namely checking the drain filter. The item must be removed from the housing of the LG washing machine. Unscrewing the filter is easy - grab it and make a half turn to the left. Pull the lid toward you. After removing the dust filter from the housing, you will see how water will flow out of the hole. That is why it is very important to lay rags under the machine before starting work.find and clean the trash filter

You can proceed to cleaning the filter element. Remove adhering hair, dirt, other debris from the part. Then flush the spare part under running water. If limescale is visible on the drain filter, a weak citric acid solution will help remove it. To remove scale from the surface of the element, soak it for several hours in a small amount of water with the addition of 50 grams of “lemon”. Any deposits will easily come off the surface of the part.

It is equally important to examine the hole that opened after removing the element. This is exactly what the filter snail is. Take a flashlight and illuminate the area of interest, remove pieces of dirt, pile, and other debris accumulated in the cavity from the inside.

Take a small rag and additionally wipe the inside of the hole, all those places that you can reach. After the cleaning is completed, reinstall the filter elements and start the washing cycle. If the machine still displays the OE code, you will have to look further.

Inspect the hose, check the sewer

check the drain hoseAt the same time as cleaning the dust filter, the drain hose must also be checked. He probably bent over, and this is precisely what prevents the water from freely leaving the tank. Also be sure to look at how the water generally leaves the apartment in the sewer. If there is a problem in draining water from the bathroom, washbasin or kitchen sink, then the sewer pipe is clogged. You can try to eliminate the blockage using special chemicals. With the futility of such attempts, it is necessary to call the plumbing.

Check that when installing the washer you did not place it on the drain hose. A heavy unit transfers the tube, as a result of which draining the spent liquid from the tank will be difficult. Another reason is a blockage in the drain pipe.Clean the cavity and check if the washing machine has been repaired.

Does the pump work?

In modern washing machines, you can access the drain pump without disassembling the housing. This is available on most AlGee machine models. So that the pump is in sight, you should:

  • disconnect the washer;
  • disconnect the drain and water intake hose;
  • drain residual liquids from the system through a waste filter;
  • remove the detergent dispenser from the housing;
  • cover the floor with a rag;
  • Carefully lay the machine on its right side.

Most models of washing machines are not equipped with a bottom. Parts located below are freely available. In case of unforeseen repairs, such a design feature will only be on hand, it will not be difficult to get to the drain pump. Now you have to check the pump.

The most common reason for the failure of the drain pump is its clogging with various debris accumulated during operation of the washing machine.

Therefore, do not immediately test the pump with a multimeter. In most cases, it will be enough to clean the pump from hair, dirt and lint. The drainage system of automatic machines is planned in such a way that the main part of the debris that has fallen into the tank settles in the filter. However, even a small amount of dirt touching the impeller of the pump can cause a malfunction of the washing machine. The drain pump is repaired according to the following algorithm:

  • Take a picture of how the wires leading to the pump are located and connected;
  • disconnect the wiring from the part;
  • using pliers, loosen the clamps that secure the hose and pipe to the pump;
  • remove the hose and pipes;
  • grab the pump with your hands, rotate it 180 degrees to the left;
  • remove the drain pump from the system.

Inspect the impeller to find hair or other debris on it, be sure to clean the cavities. Using a slotted screwdriver, pry off the latches and disassemble the pump housing. While checking the drain pump, examine the integrity of the internal mechanism, rubber seals, and remove debris from the pump cavity.

If visible defects in the drain pump are identified, a new part must be installed.

If broken or the impeller has flownthen changing the entire pump is not necessary. It is possible to find exactly the plastic pinwheel in specialized stores and install it in the place of the failed part. After the drain pump repair is completed, you should start the standard washing mode and check the washing machine for operation.

Pressure switch

pressure switch on the washer LGWhat to do if the measures taken earlier did not help? The water level sensor is probably not functioning properly. To make sure the pressure switch relay is working, disconnect the water intake hose. You can access the sensor as follows:

  • unplug the washing machine;
  • remove the top cover of the unit body (for this, unscrew the two bolts holding it).

The pressure switch on LG models is located on one of the walls of the washer, very close to the top. Having found the water level sensor, disconnect the inlet hose from it, which is fixed with a hose clamp. On a cleared place, connect a special tube of suitable diameter, which should be prepared in advance. Blow it lightly. If the pressure switch contacts are working, you will hear a clear click. The number of clicks directly depends on the model of the machine, how many levels of water intake are provided in the system for performing various modes.

It is also necessary to examine all hoses and tubes for integrity. If defects are found, the nozzles will have to be replaced. It is good to inspect the contacts of the pressure switch relay; if they are dirty, be sure to clean the connectors. If the contacts stick, it is necessary to completely replace the pressure switch.

At the end of the work, plug the inlet hose into place, fix it with a hose clamp. Then reinstall the housing cover and check the machine.After all the measures taken, it will work out to correct the OE error. To prevent such a problem, it is necessary to periodically clean the dust filter, inspect clothing well before loading into the drum for foreign objects in pockets.
