How to put on a rubber band of a washing machine
Water flowing out of the washing machine drum is unsafe and troublesome. But the independent replacement of the rubber seal with hatches and inept attempts to put the clamp back on the cuff often lead to this situation. To avoid leaks and other related problems, do not act at random. It is better to understand the intricacies of such work in advance. We’ll talk about this in detail below.
Installation of an internal collar
If a question arose with the installation of the clamp, then before that they were successfully removed. Then it didn’t go unnoticed that two metal holders, an external and an internal, which are still firmly fixed on the rubber seal, fasten the hatch of the hatch. This is the problem of their installation - you will have to make a lot of effort, patience and skill.
But the procedure depends on the type of clamp used. There are also two of them:
- the screws have a special screw that loosens when donned and tightens at the end;
- spring ones must be stretched by hands, putting a lot of effort, and only after planting the spring will self-seize to its original size.
The second option is considered more troublesome, since it is quite difficult to “put” the latch in special grooves the first time. It’s better to first “practice” with the old cuff: often when tightening with a screwdriver, a new seal is damaged. We have to change the gum again, which will negatively affect the family budget. The procedure for working with the internal spring clamp is as follows:
- we fill the edges of the cuff into the drum;
- we unscrew the hatch lock by unscrewing two screws on the front of the case;
- insert a flat screwdriver into the lock and engage the latch for it;
- we pull the spring around the entire perimeter with another screwdriver, starting from the place of the hook;
- we return to the original position the lock and cuff.
With a screw ring we act differently.
- Remove the top cover of the washing machine.
- Unscrew the screw to a suitable diameter.
- We start it in the intended place so that the screw is on top.
- “We get” to the screw from above and twist to the optimum fixation.
Important! The type of holder does not depend on the brand and manufacturer of the washing machine, so it is not forbidden to choose an option convenient for installation.
It should be borne in mind that older models of automatic machines do not provide for the adjustment of the clamp with screws and springs. In such cases, you can only tighten the ring with pliers.
Installation of an external collar
From the outside, it is even easier to put the clamp on the rubber of the washing machine: access to the seat is absolutely free. In this case, the procedure does not change. We put the spring ring on one side, we hook it from the opposite edge with a screwdriver and pull it into the provided grooves. The main thing is to carefully check the correct installation so that the marks on the cuff and the case correspond to each other, and the holder "stands" directly in the recess. The algorithm for the spring view does not change:
- maximally unwind the screw and loosen the ring;
- place it on top of the elastic along the outer edge;
- tighten the screw.
We will dwell on tightening in more detail. It is important not to overtighten the bolt, otherwise the thread will be damaged, the clamp will deteriorate, and you will have to look for a new one. Another danger is the possible loss of the ring from the seat and the occurrence of skew. Which will require repeated unwinding and landing.
In cases where the screw scrolls with difficulty or constantly “flies out”, do not try to push the slot, increasing the pressure. You can fix the problem by lubricating the threads of the fasteners with the universal tool WD-40. It remains to screw / unscrew the holder several times to distribute the grease along the entire length, and then continue to tighten.
It is quite realistic to fix the clamp on the cuff of the washing machine yourself, if you follow the rules and act as carefully as possible. It is better to call for help an extra pair of hands and discuss the repair sequence in advance.
